Katori Kimura vs. Blossom Fields - Youth In Revolt

As Blossom’s music played, the pint-sized powerhouse came out from the back with some unusual pep in her step. Granted, she was pretty much eternally happy, but today she seemed doubly so, even by her standards. She practically skipped her way down the ramp, made sure to slap hands with everyone she could, had a wide smile on the entire time, and generally seemed to glow as she moved about the ring.

The reason was simple: Blossom had won a match!

Okay, it was only one match. It wasn’t like she was on a hot streak, and Millie, while she was certainly good, wasn’t exactly a top ranked wrestler, either. It wasn’t like she’d beaten Angel or something.

But, all the same, after being on and off for years, after losing so many matches, after failing time and time again, it felt so good to finally have a real win under her belt. It was concrete proof that she could handle the AFW, and if she wanted to drive home that point, there was only one way to make it work: keep winning.

So she’d set up a match, and as she rolled into the ring and skipped on over to her corner, she tried her best not to let her nervousness show. Blossom broke into some stretches with the ropes, using those to help ease her nerves, but she couldn’t take her eyes off the ramp as she did. Just waiting for her foe to show.

”I can do this.” She brought her leg down, then lifted the other one up for the same treatment. ”IcandothisIcandothisIcandothis.”

This was perhaps so far to be the most sudden match Katori had ever done since signing on in AFW, normally when management schedules a match the wrestlers learn of it from them a few days to a week in advance so they can get ready for it. But this one came unexpectedly this morning while Katori was in the middle of her daily morning jog, and the first thing that came out of the young Angel's lips after getting and reading that email was a loud and confusing: "Huuuuh???"

So now here we are, in the AFW locker room as Katori Kimura got ready for her sudden match tonight. She at least learned beforehand that her opponent set this match up herself, so unless she was specifically selected by her opponent, Katori thought that she might have been chosen at random for this by management.

Either way, it was another match for the Mighty Successor, that she fully intended to win no matter what! As Katori's music played on the speakers she entered the arena to the loud welcoming sound of cheers from the audience. She stood on the stage to give waves to the crowd as per usual to show her appreciation for their loving support.

The angel then starts to make her way down the ramp to the ring, giving high fives and fist bumps to fans as she went. Doing this never got old, interacting with fans was always important to Katori. She climbs up the apron and vaults over the top rope as she walks to her corner, getting a good look at her opponent. From the looks of her, she could easily be mistaken for a kawaii wrestler as well as a boy if not for her small chest. Katori did some last minute stretches as she reached her corner before leaning back into it while looking at her small foe with a friendly but competitive smirk.

And there was her opponent, coming down to the ring with a brightness that even rivaled Blossom’s. Katori Kimura - or Kimura Katori? The whole honorific thing got mixed up sometimes. At any rate, she decided to take inventory as she waited for opponent to get in, and ask the question: What did she know about Katori?

Not a whole lot. She was a Wrestle Angel, apparently, but she must’ve been one of the last ones to come into it before they went belly-up, because they both looked about the same age. She was certainly happy looking enough, unlike some of the older, more intense angels. She had a questionable fashion sense - the blue hair was something Blossom had grown used to in Japan, but the colors on her outfits clashed like crazy. Hurt the eyes a bit just to look at them.

Aside from that information? Zilch. So it looked like this would be another one of those ‘make it up as you go’ matches. Great.

Blossom wasn’t going to let it bother her too much, though, knowing that sort of thinking had sunk her in the past. Instead, she came out of the corner with her head held high and her gaze focused. She made her way to the center of the ring, eager to start, but before that happened there was one piece of business to handle.

Blossom extended her hand. ”Let’s have a good match, okay?

Before getting ready for this match Katori tried to get some info on her opponent since she never heard of Blossom Fields before. With all she managed to get briefly, apparently this girl has been in AFW for a long while and is seen as a jobber due to how many losses she got. That really doesn't say much about her, but one thing that Katori has to keep in mind, is that no matter what you do you shouldn't underestimate an opponent. Despite Blossom's loss/win ratio, there is still the chance she could defeat the angel.

But now it was time to focus on the here and now, and Katori was gonna give it all she got in this match tonight and show her stuff once again! Seeing her opponent come from her corner with high spirits and focus, Katori did the same as she pushed from hers to meet with Blossom.

As she got closer she sees the girl extent her hand out early to offer a handshake, the angel smiles as she raises her own up as she walks to her before swinging to clamp with Blossom's to accept the hand shake with a strong and firm grip. "Yeah, let's have a good one tonight." Katori says as she looks at her opponent in the eyes, as a slight smirk forms on her face.

"But don't hold it against me if I kick your ass tonight, okay?~" She follows up with as she giggles and winks at Blossom while tightening her grip a bit. Despite following the rules and being nice while showing sportsmanship, Katori cannot by anyway resist doing SOME kind of friendly banter before a match.

Sportsmanship in an AFW match? What a nice change of pace.

Granted, Katori wasn’t the first woman she’d fought against who’d been considerably pleasant, but it was a trend she was getting more and more used to. Her last opponent, Millie, had became a fast friends of Blossom. With how seedy this place could be at times, she was glad to see things changing up more and more.

”I think you might wind up disappointed, there.” Blossom winked back at Katori, already enjoying the friendly, fun banter. She tried her best to push past it, though, as the bell rang and the match officially started. Switching to game mode, she dropped down into her grappling stance: one leg forward, the other back, shoulder width apart, arms out and ready.

Careful and cautious, she started to circle around Katori, occasionally darting forward and rushing back, trying to test her opponent’s reflexes and get a feel for her style.

An opponent who is not only nice and sporty, but who is also willing to engage in competitive and playful banter before a match? Katori likes this girl already just from that alone.

In a league full of women who a large majority are here for themselves and don't care about their opponents or show any form of respect, even if it was a small kid that was beaming it was still great to find SOME nice rivals here to fight with. Katori can definitely see that Blossom would make a great rival down the road should she improve and get past her high loss rate.

"Oh, we'll see about that, you little firecracker." Katori replies back to her opponent just as she got into a stance of her own and the gong rings to start the match, to which the angel dropped her smirk and looked at Blossom with a serious expression. The girl looked at her opponent thoroughly as she circled her, noticing how her stance was for grappling and was solid, definitely a sign that she knows her stuff and cannot be underestimated one bit.

When Blossom darted at her the first time Katori quickly rose her arms up in defense before she went back to keep circling and doing it again. **Testing me, are you?** The successor thought to herself as her eyes shifted to Blossom's legs to try and predict her actions and movement. As when her opponent tries to go for another feint when she pauses to back away, Katori will dash forward herself at her and attempt to throw a hard kick at Blossom's chest.

Hm. ‘Little firecracker’. One of the nicer nicknames Blossom had picked up since joining the AFW.

That thought a smile to her face - or, to be more exact, widened the one that was perpetually on it. Questionable clothing choices aside - the colors hurt her eyes - Katori was looking pleasant enough from the outset, which could make a big difference when it came to way she handled things. Already, she was thinking about ways to pin her foe, opting for that instead of something harsher, like an ankle hold. Softer, more pleasant ways to go about this.

She just needed an opening, needed her opponent to give her something to work with. Stay close, but not too close, wait for it, and…

Ah, there we go.

Katori came at Blossom with a kick one that did what it was supposed to and hit her in the chest. The only problem was that it didn’t hurt her enough, because she still had enough wherewithal to grab hold of the leg and keep it close to her chest.

From there, the pint-sized powerhouse pushed forward, trying to drive her to the floor with a single-leg takedown.

With how this match had started everyone had been questioning on how would make the first move, with Blossom doing constant back and forth feints at Katori while she kept on her guard. Both girls were waiting for a moment to strike the other or counter, and this defensive stare down was already pretty tense for what it's worth.

After quite a long while, the Wrestle Angel makes the first move, as right when Blossom did another feint towards Katori she pressed forward to deliver a hard kick to the girl's chest. The good news is that it hit, the bad news was that she caught it in the process.

Instead of panicking like most would Katori kept her cool as she balanced herself on one foot while her opponent held onto her leg. This had an easy solution, however it would also be an easy one to avoid since a leaping counter kick to the head this early would predictable. So Katori decided to improvise.

Once Blossom began to push against the Mighty Successor, she reached for and grabbed the brunette's arms. As she went down on the mat with the Single Leg Takedown, Katori will use that momentum against her opponent as she will attempt to throw her leg up while it was still pressed against Blossom's chest to throw her over her in a Monkey Flip counter, letting go of her arms as she flew!

Blossom tried not too smile too hard when she caught the kick. It was just one move. One successful counter. Hardly enough to win the match, or even gauge the way it would go. There was still a lot to do, a lot of progress to be made and she truthfully didn’t even have an inkling of what sort of wrestler she was really dealing with, here.

But she couldn’t help but be a bit happy. It was nice for things to actually start off in her favor. A good sign, in her book.

She was on her way to bringing Katori to the mat, her prime area, and it would be smooth sailing from there - in theory. But before she could find out, her foe proved to be a little more nimble than she’d given her credit for, and she showed that surprise with an awkward sqauwk as she went flying.

Monkey flip. Nice.

Blossom landed on her back and immediately rolled over, wanting to give Katori as small a window as possible. She tried to rush forward to her feet and reached out, attempting to capture her foe’s skull with a headlock before she could get away.

Shortly after Katori threw the young Blossom back with a Monkey Flip, having used her own momentum against her, she used that same momentum to keep rolling backwards and get back onto her feet with ease. It was a nice counter for a counter, having gotten  the edge over Blossom briefly because of that. And it certainly helped play to the crowd as they cheered in approval of it for Katori.

Despite the success though, the young angel couldn't let her guard down for a second as she turns around, hearing fast steps behind her as she did. Seeing her opponent rushing at her, having already gotten back up herself instead of being in a seated position like most would be. It certainly tells Katori that Blossom must be quick or aerodynamic to have recovered so quickly, either way, she was ready for her!

When the brunette tomboy lunged her arms at her head, Katori merely lowered herself to avoid the grab as she quickly maneuvers herself to step behind Blossom as she throws a fast kick to her lower back to make her stagger. From there, if the girl was pushed forward from the kick, Katori will lunge forward herself and wrap her arms around the girl's waist before attempting to lift the girl up and over herself as she will slam Blossom down with a classic textbook Backdrop!
