Fancy meeting you here

Shido chuckled and smiled as Daisuke retorted and playfully forearmed him. He didn't get the reference, as he'd proven himself to not be much of a hockey guy, but it felt like a genuine reply and he was happy with that.

He'd enter the arena with her, hearing her friends cheer which was totally understandable. On top of the fact that these people were close to her, she could probably win the contest in her sleep if her skills were anything like Lina's, and it was a safe assumption that they were. The announcers began going on explaining the rules to the audience and the cash prize to be won. It sounded grandiose and the moment was definitely being played up, but for Shido it was all background noise. He was concentrated on exactly what he should do out there and how he should do it. One could tell that he was barely paying attention to what was actually happening on the ice right now.

If the others were around they would have gotten the reference for sure. She wished him good luck just as they were about to step on the ice. Daisuke looked down the ice from where they were just before things got started. They were standing at the center red line and all the way down by one of nets was a board that covered the net, except for a small hole that was the length of a puck and maybe an additional centimeter or less on each side but was a bit difficult to tell for sure, but having seen these before she knew it would have to be dead on for it to go in the hole.

She, as does Shido, has three shots. After grabbing a right handed stick and checking out she goes for her first shot. She looked to line up the shot and it looked good but ended up being an inch or so just to the right side of the hole.

"Aw man, that shot looked perfect! I'm sorry about that, Dai. Shido would say, trying to console her after a fantastic attempt. He tried to steel himself and do the best he could. He fumbled with his stick for a bit, accidentally tapping the puck once while trying to get a feel for how he could hit it.

"Oh no! This doesn't work like golf, right?! Did that count as a shot??" He would say in a concerned fashion, hoping that he didn't waste an attempt in such an absentminded fashion.

Daisuke wasn't too bothered by it but thanked him for his concern anyway. Luckily for him it didn't appear to count as one.

Shido let out a huge sigh of relief. The counter didn't seem to go up on the scoreboard and there didn't seem to be a crowd reaction, be it positive or negative.

He would tense up and focus, determined to give it his all! Despite his resolve, he knew that any success here on his part would amount to dumb luck, as he's never played any hockey before in his life. He'd hit the puck forward, hoping for the best! Unfortunately, it was just as he feared. He'd knocked the puck forward with decent enough force, but it wouldn't even make it to the net. Instead, his puck would veer left and miss the net entirely, going right past it. Shido would look on and laugh to himself about it. After all, he wasn't disappointed, he was having fun.

From what the others could tell that was the first shot he's ever taken, which wasn't necessarily a bad one given he was going for an unreasonably small target from a far distance. "Not bad" Daisuke said with a smile before going again. She got set up and fired off her second shot. Unlike last time she was up and like Shido's shot it didn't hit the board, it did however go through the hole and into the net.

The others cheered for her as did those that were also watching since it was impressive. A red light behind the night lit, which Shido may have seen this happen when one of the goals that happened so far was scored. She was trying to be humble about it, not wanting to rub it in to Shido at all, but just to please Lita, Lina, and Sion she did raise her stick for a moment while looking their way.

"Wow that was pretty impressive." Shido would say, trying to give Daisuke props. She seemed to get a decent enough crowd reaction for her shot and her showboating was welcomed. Shido let things die down a bit before attempting his second shot.

He didn't take his time with this one and instead just swung and the puck quickly, hoping for the best, it skid along the ice quickly, traveling towards the net before ricocheting off the bar on the edge of the and sliding away. It was a better attempt than his previous one, this shot actually hit something, but still not prize. Shido looked a little disappointed, but he still smiled and took it well.

The sound of where the shot hit was something that would usually get a reaction of some kind no matter which side one was on. She was still ahead and they each had one shot left, but if she made it here she'd put it out of reach and win it. She was hoping to connect this last one but sadly she did not as it hit the board on the opposite side from her first shot.

Shido would reach out to Daisuke to pat her on the back and extend his empathy. "Aww, no worries. You tried hard and I'm sure you've impressed many people tonight. You've certainly impressed me." he'd say with a sincere smile.

"It's alright, thanks though" she tells him. Shido still had one shot to go and Daisuke was still ahead 1-0. The others continue to watch from where they are. A couple of people near by already wrote Shido off while some believe he can still tie it up, but it would be difficult.
