Masane finds new competition!

Masane nodded, grinning competitively as she shifted back into her stance. "More than ready, Kasumi..." She replied, and started to shift towards Kasumi slowly, ready for another exchange of blows with her.

Kasumi approached Masane with a slightly different stance now. She put more of her weight on her back foot, and raised her right hand in an open palm in front of her chest. She approached slowly for a moment, but then quickly jumped right into Masane's striking range. She kicked upward with her front foot, hoping to break Masane's defense, and then would dash in for an open palm strike right at Masane's chest.

Masane's eyes widened as Kasumi suddenly jumped in, and winced as her left arm was kicked, but then she brought her right arm up to stop Kasumi's palm before it struck her. She then twisted her arm around to try and snag Kasumi by the wrist, and would step in, trying to sweep her legs out from under the kawaii and at the same time throw her down by the arm so that she landed down on her back. "Kiyah!" She would shout as tried to throw her down.

Kasumi broke Masane's defense easily it seemed, and she thought her strike would connect. But then Masane blocked the blow and snagged her arm. Kasumi's eyes widened when she was brought down in the throw. "Ah!" she let out a soft cry when she hit the mat. She rolled with the motion to not hurt herself too much, though she had gotten caught pretty easily in Masane's counter this time.

Masane was panting softly, and bounced lightly on her feet. "That was a close one, Kasumi... you caught me by surprise." She commented. "You're hard to keep up with, heh.." She raised her fists back up, waiting for Kasumi to get back up.

Kasumi pushed herself slowly onto her feet. She dusted off the back of her gi, and then assumed a fighting stance. "You got me pretty good there sempai," she said, addressing Masane with the traditional term of respect given to senior students. "I'm surprised I can keep up with you!" She adopted the fighting stance she had before, but was going to approach Masane differently this time. She found that Masane seemed to dislike going on the offensive, so she was going to try and bait Masane into attacking.

Masane normally was a defensive fighter, but it wouldn't be fair for Kasumi to go on the offensive the full time. She had all plans to attack this time, and she moved in towards Kasumi, and would bring her elbow back, thrusting it forward at her, but at the same time her other arm would try for a palm thrust at the kawaii's gut, trying to catch her by surprise.

Kasumi saw Masane finally step forward to attack. She became wary, her senses going full time to keep up with Masane's every movement. She saw the elbow coming at her, dodging out of the way easily, leaping backwards out of her range. Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Masane's palm striking at her gut. Kasumi dropped her arms, catching the blow in her hands. Then, with both hands, she gripped Masane's wrist tightly and twisted around, trying to put Masane in an armbar behind her back.

Masane cursed when Kasumi caught her hand, and winced as Kasumi manuevered behind her, and twisted her arm up in the hammerlock submission. She tried to reach over her shoulder to grab her head, but Kasumi was too short for her to grab.

"Grh... keep forgetting that..." She muttered to herself, and tried instead to slide a foot back, trying to knock her foot into her legs to knock her off balance, and would try to lean to the side and grab for her head around her side this time, and would try to flip Kasumi over her hip in a hip toss if Kasumi hadn't moved from the spot.

Kasumi giggled when Masane tried to grab her head but couldn't reach. Being short had it's perks! When Masane tried sliding backwards to unbalance Kasumi, she matched the motion, moving back herself to maintain her balance. But she wasn't expecting Masane's foot to get caught between hers, and stumbled for just a second. That created the opening Masane needed, as she slipped and got her head caught in Masane's hands. She was about to get flipped over onto the mat when Kasumi desperately grabbed at Masane's gi, hoping to get a hold strong enough that Masane wouldn't be able to toss her to the ground.
