Phoebe watched trembling as Seraphim froze, hoping that this pause, this retreat... none of this was happening. Seraphim had been her first true companion, her first kindred spirit in so long. Seraphim's words were the last crushing blow she was waiting for, that she knew was coming but hoped to the point of almost self-delusion wouldn't come. Her entire body froze, her stomach twisted into knots. She closed her eyes, taking a sudden, quick breath. "No... no please, Seraphim..." She muttered helplessly. Her pleading eyes sought Seraphim's own... before the hope of her pleas being granted drained out of them. She closed her eyes and turned away, sighing once more calmly.

When she spoke again, her voice was even once more, her characteristic calm demeanor had returned. Her face betrayed nothing. "You're... right. I... shouldn't have... I'm sorry." Her voice was sullen and heavy, but controlled. "I should go." Not even looking at Seraphim, she leaned down to collect her clothes. She didn't even bother to put them on before she began to head out the door. Phoebe could barely think straight, she was just certain that this was all her fault and that she couldn't stand to face Seraphim any more...
