Dark Reign: A Snake Enters the Garden

Hyacinth:

"O..oh good morning...":

Hyacinth was super excited about the fair. She had heard so much about it, but had never been. Every time she had made a plan to go, she had slept through every single one, but this time would be different because this time she had friends to go with. Hyacinth barged into Amber's room to wake her up and she woke up with a startled look on her face,  "Amber it's time to get up we gotta go to the fair!" She giggled and pounced on the girl, "O...oh...good morning Hya...OOF!" she grunted and fell over with Hyacinth on top. Hyacinth grabbed her hand and led her out of her room down stair, grabbing their coffee before heading for the car. All the while Amber had no idea what was happening until she got in the car and took a sip of coffee. Hyacinth started the car and off they were to the fair, but first, they needed to get Berenice.

Berenice rubbed her eyes as her alarms, all 4 of them blared into her ears from either side. She groggily got up and smacked each on on the top, turning them off. She stretched her arms wide and yawned. Today she would go to the local yearly fair with Hyacinth and Amber. She slipped out of bed, and re-made it. She hated being a fidgety sleeper, it was always a pain to sort out in the morning.

Afterwards, she went and grabbed a big, saggy T-shirt with some metal bands image on, and went downstairs, making some toast. She slept, most of the time, with just a pair of underwear which she would freely admit, made getting ready in the morning quite a pain but the weather in Japan could get pretty hot at night and she hated sweating when she didn't have to. She could get dressed later..she had time..probably..

She switched on the TV to see the usual. Some drug dealers had been caught, a murderer from her area was found, She groaned, "What a shitty place to live in..How'd I let that estate agent persuade me..." she said as she ate her toast.

After about 5 minutes she got a text from Hyacinth, well, from Hyacinths mobile, seems like Amber did the sending. It read "We'll be there in 7 minutes to pick you up" and so Berenice pushed herself up from her sofa and trudged up stairs, grabbing a pair of jeans, a decently fitting shirt, and her boots, after which she went downstairs and waited for the other two.

"Couldn't we have gone later" she groaned whilst rubbing her eyes and yawning once again, when she heard a "beep beep" from outside. She grabbed her jacket and sleepily wandered over to the car, opening the door and getting in, not making any effort to hide the fact that she was still waking up.

"You must have been excited since Amber looks like she just got out of bed and didn't have time to get dressed" She said, leaning against the cold car window as the warmth of the sun hit her cheek.

Amber smiled sleepily and waved at Berenice while Hyacinth unlocked the doors and poked the woman, ”Relax, I gave her coffee, she’ll be fine.” Amber gave a little thumbs up before going back to her book as she sipped from her thermos of coffee. As soon as Berenice got in the car, Hyacinth put it her car in reverse, pulled out of her driveway and they were off, Amber punching in directions to the fair. Once they arrived, Hyacinth paid for the parking and got out. Amber running over to cling to Hyacinth as they walked toward the ticket booth, ”Don’t worry Berenice, I already took care of it.” she flashed her phone and the ticketier before they walked through into the fair.

Berenice was a little more awake now, but couldn't hold back the yawn that came from her mouth. The sun had risen a bit more as well, the heat beating down on her. She still wasn't used to the heat the Japanese sun shine produced, but it was what it was.

She began walking towards the ticket machine before Hyacinth waved her phone and told her all was sorted out. Berenice smiled at her, always one step ahead it seemed, always. She caught up to the pair, and smiled from Hyacinth to Amber. This was the first time she'd been to one of these fairs..or festivals, whatever they were, and she was happy to go with them. A shame Abigail couldn't have taken her..but the area they had been in was less than...nice, so such events were rare, very, very rare.

"Thanks for inviting me, Really. I was just gonna spend today sleeping and browsing the internet or something. Other than going to the gym, I don't get out much, don't know many people here...let alone, being on good terms with people" she said, trailing off, looking at the ground and stopping. She'd left everyone she knew and cared for..to come here..and here she was spending time with a woman she had developed feelings for, despite already having someone. Guilt assaulted her mind, she felt terrible, how could she do this...she didn't mention that she was going to spend time talking to her friends today, when Hyacinth had called her, her excitement got the better of her and she accepted without a second thought.

She realised she'd stopped. She looked up and smiled, "No its nothing, I'm just happy to be here" she said, shaking her head and trying to put on the best fake smile she could. She was happy to be here with these two, of course she was, but the guilt picked at her mind, etching away at it.

"So, What are we doing first? you probably know more about this stuff than I do so you lead the way" she said, smiling still, going from Hyacinth to Amber.

As soon as they got through the gate, Hyacinth already started giggling. She was super excited, like an adhd kid that had managed to get their hands on caffeine. She was spinning, skipping and laughing, all the while Amber buried her face in her book that she had grabbed before leaving and hid behind Hyacinth. Ever since joining the AFW, Hyacinth was the only one that she had managed to get close with. The woman even let her stay with her until she could get a place of her own and settle down, which was really surprising to her, but Amber didn’t mind it. The more her body circulated the coffee in her system and the more she woke up, the more scared she was. She was very weary of Berenice, seeing as this had been their first official meeting and Amber didn’t really want to say anything, but she didn’t have to since Hyacinth seemed to be doing all the talking, ”Well, I’ve never actually been here, but I heard they have amazing food. What do you think Amber, you hungry?” She asked the green haired girl and she nodded, only taking her eyes off her book for a brief moment to look Hyacinth in the eyes and nod, drawing a squeal of delight as Hyacinth snuggled her, ”OoOo I know you hate it when I say this, but you’re such a cutie!” She hugged Amber tightly, nearly squishing her and drawing out a pout from the girl, ”What about you Berenice? You hungry?” She asked, looking up and smiling softly as she looked Berenice right in the eyes. It seemed just like yesterday that Hyacinth was trying to beat down and humiliate this girl and now here they were, walking around a park together as friends.

Berenice nodded, "Yeah, sure. Where're we going?" she asked, looking around. She then looked down, and smiled gently at Amber, who was watching her wearily. She wondered what such a cute, small girl had gone through to be so fearful of strangers. She next focused more on their surroundings. People ran around, lovers, families, people simply walking around on their own. They went to stalls, played games and ate. Some jumped around and some of the couples seemed to wonder off to more secluded areas, to do gods no what. The Japanese were a perverse people at times, but she certainly wouldn't judge them for it. It was part of their charm to many, Berenice included. She turned her attention back to Hyacinth, who had walked off without her in her excitement. "Wait for me!" she called, her combat boots thudding hard against the ground as she ran. As she got closer, she could smell a mixture of foods, finding herself practically watering from it. She hadn't eaten her usual breakfast, and the couple slices of toast left her feeling hungry so it was hard not to react in such a way to the food.

Hyacinth was just walking back with some food when Berenice came running up and she handed off a plate, ”Mmm, there are so many things we can do today, we could go into the haunted house, or we could go play some games, or go on some rides!” Hyacinth was super excited and it showed. She hadn’t been to a fair since her parents were alive when she was younger. The woman was practically bouncing in her seat as she dug into her food, “So what do you wanna do first?” Hyacinth asked as she softly wiped off her mouth of the barbecue sauce.

Berenice grinned. "Haunted house sounds good, if you get scared you can grab hold of my arm and I'll protect you" she said flexing her arms and showing off the obvious muscle that sat within them. Afterwards, she wiped a bit of sauce that Hyacinth had missed.

Today was a day where she could relax, could forget the trials and tribulations and the issues she'd had at and around her home. This is nice, a nice, calm day to just have fun and mess around she though, and upon thinking this, quickly shot a glance around, looking for any possibly threats. She saw nothing entirely suspicious, but nothing nice ever lasted long in her experience. Perhaps she was just paranoid, given her lack of luck in terms of a kind, calm life. It was something she'd never had and couldn't imagine. Always looking over her shoulder, always double checking the journey she had planned out, and then when she got to a location, would keep her head on a swivel still.

She felt Hyacinths eyes Burrowing themselves into her, too which she smiled Quickly at her. "Lets go!" she said, taking her hand and walking towards the haunted house

Hyacinth’s eyes widened a little at Berenice. She was getting very bold with her, but she wasn’t about to complain. A small blush spread across her face as she stammered, ”O...oh...thanks...” she said softly before Berenice took her hand and suddenly they were off, heading towards the haunted house. This girl was moving very fast for Hyacinth, making her head spin a little as they walked. Amber opting to stay underneath the table and continue reading her book. Once at the house, Hya’s heart began pounding at the sight of the horrible thing, “M...maybe this isn’t such a good idea...” she said softly.
