AV 18 Tag Championship - Blazing Blizzard (c) vs. Novae

“Why is this so hard now..” Chelsea was moving slower then last time and she could tell. It was written in just about every step she was taking up this ladder. She could slowly start to get closer but she wasn’t moving as fast as she would have liked, obviously you get hurt doing a move like that but the difference was shocking.

“Almost..there” Chelsea had finally reached the top without some interference and her hand went for the belt again. Trying to grab and pull the sucker off it’s pedestal once and for all. If Chelsea got the time to herself she would get a great on the belt and eventually unhook it to finally be declared the winner of the match, if someone knocked over the ladder she might be in trouble.

Not like this. Not like this.

From the ringside, Valerie surged back to life, watching Chelsea climb the ladder and seeing their chances fade before her very eyes. She was hurt, she was aching, but there was no way she was going to let this be the end. She had to act. Now.

She reached over the rope as Tatiana stretched her arm up, just barely making the tag, and slip in through the middle and top rope, nearly falling over herself in the process. It wasn’t the most graceful moment in her career, but desperation fueled her as she made her way up the ladder, crawling up the opposite side, trying to reach the titles before Chelsea could get her mitts on them…

Chelsea was slowly getting her way confident that she could eventually get her hands on the titles. Though that bit of confidence was halted when she found the other half of the puzzle that was her enemy climbing up the ropes to try and salvage this match! She zipped up the ladder like it was nothing and was up at the top with Chelsea before she even could have guessed reaching for the belts all the same.

“How did you...No! No you don’t!” Chelsea screamed shocked and angered that what she thought was certain success was at risk. Desperate the redhead tried to smack her foe across the face looking to knock her off. Adding to that she would even bring her leg up to kick at her.

Desperation was quite a good fuel in a pinch, and Valerie, as it turned out, had more than her fair share left in the tank. It was enough to make her ignore all the little pains going through her body at the moment. She had one thought and one thought alone - get to those belts, by any means necessary.

Unfortunately, there was an obstacle in her way: Chelsea.

She met the woman at the top, and resistance came her way immediately, as she the redhead struck out and threw a hard blow at her face. Valerie ducked that, but the kick that came after was a different story - that had enough speed to catch her in the chest and nearly knocked her down - nearly. She managed to hold on, saved her resolve, then lurch forward and threw a stiff forearm at her opponent’s chest, returning fire with everything she had.

Chelsea was fighting with everything she had now and trying to topple her foe for good but nothing would do the trick her punch missed and her kick merely wobbled her for rather then send her down like she so desperately wanted. The redhead had to keep on trying and working for an opening when she was taken by a big chop to the chest.

“Hhaagh!” Chelsea screamed flinching and shaking on top as she felt one of her hands slip and she shook to remain on top. Chelsea eventually regained her footing and felt slighted by the near mistake. Trying to act quickly she would throw another big chop to the chest to retaliate.

For a moment, just a moment, Tatiana thought she’d hit the jackpot and managed to knock Chelsea off. The blow landed clean, sent her wobbling, and it seemed like she was destined to topple off, that the title was within reach, so close now…

...but nope, the champion held on. Which made sense, she supposed. She was a champion, after all. Didn’t make it any less annoying, though.

Gritting her teeth, Tatiana was about to lash out again, hoping it would be enough, when her foe came at her with a resurgent blow to the chest. This one knocked the wind out of Tatiana and sent her reeling, arms wobbling about as she struggled to maintain her balance and stay aloft. She was able to pull it in and stay up, but just barely, and the result had her leaning forward as she gasped for air. All she needed was a few seconds to catch her breath...

Thank god she held on. If she dropped now she wouldn’t get up for several minutes and she could kiss her titles goodbye in her first match. Chelsea was too proud for that and looking at her foes one more time she would try and hit her once more. And she watched her hit connect clean and trip up her opponent but just like her she stayed on and Chelsea practically starts to cry. She had only ended up allowing this to happen because she wanted to prove something and went for a risky move. Giving her time to stand up and get to the fight once more. But now she was paying for it and after a second Chelsea would reach for her head and try to grab some hair.

“GET..OFF!!” Chelsea screamed and would attempt to drive her head down into the ladder hoping to finally knock her down by causing her a very painful collision with the ladder and ending this match for good.

It was all over in a flash. Tatiana didn’t even realize what had happened until she was halfway towards the mat.

She’d been catching her breath, hoping for just a second’s reprieve, when she felt the tight grip on her hair. She started to pull away on pure reflex, but before she had the chance, her face was introduced to the steps in the most brutal way possible. For an instant, a fraction of a second, the entire world went black, and when she came back to reality she was falling, falling, falling to the earth, and the title was getting smaller by the second.

She hit the mat flat on her back, shaking the ring on impact, and it hurt every bit as bad as it looked. Even still, though, her arms reached to the sky, as if she might just be able to stretch far enough to get the belts…

Shame. Such a shame.

The impact had to hurt, and even though it was to her benefit seeing that girl fall made the redhead wince in place exhaling as she shook her head and leaning against the ladder. She was tired, the rookies had rang her bells and proved more dangerous then one would expect. But after a second Chelsea shook her head and looked up with determination reaching for the belts again and trying to yank it out of place now that both of her opponents were dealt with. Her hands fumbling with the titles as her vision blurred but finally she secured a tight grip and pulled the suckers down. Yanking them out of place and seeing that she had in fact secured the titles.

Smiling and biting her face into the belt as the bell rang, Chelsea felt a wave of joy crash into her that almost made her forget how sick, tired and hurt she felt. Her first title defense and she had pulled through. She had proved that her win wasn’t some fluke. That she was a true champion. And she would have jumped for joy, had it not involved jumping off the ladder as well.
