Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Vanessa didn’t like running away from a challenge, but that didn’t mean she was gung-ho beyond reason. Eka seemed to want her on the floor, and with good reason. It was in her best interest to get away as soon as possible, so that was what she made happen.
She reached them, Eka sprung back to her feet, and she popped back up as well, only a scant second later, moving right back into her stance. It was as if the last few moments hadn’t even happen. No major harm done. Still even.
Though they were both a bit wiser now, weren’t they? She could tell by the look in Eka’s eyes, she was wary of the fists now. She knew where the attacks would be coming from - or thought she did. She knew Vanessa was quick, that she could launch blows quick. She was ready for the punches now. Expecting them.
Maybe that wasn’t a bad thing, though.
Eka inched forward. Vanessa did as well. She moved in, taking a small step, tightening her guard, waiting until she was just out of range. Suddenly, she pounced, closing in on her foe fast, drawing back her right arm for a right straight…
...only to raise her leg at the last second and come at Eka with a toe kick, trying to land a swift blow to her opponent’s gut, instead.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Eka breathed in. A great sense of trepidation came over her, and she felt like she was just waiting for something to happen. Like a gazelle drinking from an alligator-infested oasis, she was hyper aware of where those fists might fly. She eyed them, then looked into Vanessa's eyes, then back to the fists. Eka gulped. She was good on the counter. But countering something would require that she did something just short of catching a bullet. Her opponent moved forward, and Eka brought her guard in close to protect her head from the punches. The Georgian girl had braced for impact.
And then pain exploded in her gut. It didn't make any sense. The redhead's dukes were still up. What ripped the air from my lungs, she wondered. Pain came to her gut again, and all too late she realized what had happened. While Eka had been so intently focused on attacks coming in high, Vanessa slammed her foot into her gut twice.
The Georgian girl doubled over, gasping. She was desperately trying to recover in time to deal with whatever was coming next, but her eyes were bulging and her mouth was hanging open. That one hurt. She was holding her stomach and staggered a bit to the left.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Vanessa couldn’t help but feel a little bad about the kick. Not nearly as bad as Eka felt, without question, but still bad. Going for the fakeout was a trick - a legitimate tactic, sure, but sneakier than she typically liked, and it earned her a few scattered boos from the audience.
But, hey, it worked. You couldn’t argue with results. And while she wasn’t thrilled about hurting the sweet-looking Eka, well, she wasn’t so bothered that it would stop her from putting the kibosh on the Georgian cutie. ”Sorry, babe.”
To be fair, Vanessa couldn’t really help what happened next. She was a boxer at heart, always would be, and Eka made too tempting of a target to ignore. Leaning over like that, gaping, her face wide open…
Yeah.
Vanessa moved in like a wolf after fresh meat, dropping down and rising up with an uppercut aimed at Eka’s jaw. Full power, all the way.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Eka knew she was in a vulnerable position. Of all the places to be in a wrestling ring, this was one of the worst ones. Bent over, right in front of your opponent, with no vectors of attack, let alone means of defending herself. Vanessa seemed like a nice lady, but she also seemed to know to take the opportunity when it was right in front of your face. Eka was trying to erect herself when a hammer slammed into her chin and made her head snap back.
Instantly, Eka flew backward. In the next moment, she did not regret the fact that she never became a boxer. One moment later, she regretted getting into the ring with a pugilist, whom, truth be told, she only had a rough understanding of how to deal with. After that moment, she hit the ground behind her with her arms going out wide. It was awfully polite of her opponent to apologize, but that did not help alleviate the pain that was in her chin.
And that pain was immense. Eka blinked a few times and rolled over on her side. There would be no awe-inspiring counters, no brilliant and tricky moves. The Georgian girl was down, and she would be down for the time being. She held her chin, as if that helped.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Vanessa landed her dynamite blow. The crowd winced. The referee winched. She winced, and she was the one who launched the damn thing. She could feel the impact even through her gloves, the familiar tingle that went down her arms whenever she scored a solid hit. There was no shame in going down from a punch like that, and go down Eka did.
She took only a half-second to observe her fallen opponent, briefly considering a pin attempt. Eka was tough and the match was young, true, but the right punch could put just about anyone down for a ten-count, and she couldn’t imagine it was any different for pinfalls. It’d be the easier route for both of them, and it would certainly go a ways to raising her profile…
Vanessa had just started to move for it, too, when she saw Eka roll to her side, clearly having a good deal of life left. Best to work her over a bit more.
She made her way over to the Georgian’s side and reached down, grabbing her head with one and her arm with the other. ”Up you go, come on.” She tried to yank Eka up to her feet, giving her a few harsh tugs to get her going.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Pain is temporary. Pride is forever. She was not quite sure who told her those words. Whoever it was, they might not have felt pain quite like this. Eka squirmed a bit, and tried to compartmentalize the ache in her chin. She controlled her breathing, and rolled over once more so that she may get on her stomach and start pulling herself up. Vanessa proved to be more than helpful in that matter, grabbing the Georgian girl and forcing her onto her feet. Eka yelped a bit when the redhead seized her, but now that she was on her feet, she was not yelping now.
The Georgian was more interested in staying on her feet. She wasn't in her usual wide stance, with her hands up and her knees bit. No, her eyes were wide and a strand of hair was of her face. She tried to get her hands up as quickly as possible, to try and ward off the worst of whatever was coming next.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Eka was young, but unlike many wrestlers her age, she wasn’t all that dim or headstrong. Vanessa could tell that much about her, despite only being in the ring with her a few moments. Most rookies wouldn’t have had the sense to get their guard up so soon after being brought to their feet, but the Georgian knew what to do, still had enough wit to muster some proper defense.
It wouldn’t save her, though. Not from what Vanessa had in mind.
She took a step back, braced, then rushed forward into range, throwing out a snapping jab at Eka’s guard. Another followed that one, and another after that - none of them had that much power, wouldn’t hurt Eka too much if they got through, but that wasn’t the point. Vanessa wanted to work her back, get her trapped in the corner, take away all her escape routes.
Then she could start to unload.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Eka felt it with her whole body. First, the jab hit her guard, which then careened into her body. The Georgian girl found herself moving backwards at first, almost imperceptibly. Then it was a far more conscious effort. Eka could deal with ground and pound, she could deal with a more upright sort of wrestling, but she had very little experience with getting jabbed a hundred times. From what she remembered of boxing, knockouts tended to come when someone got punched in the head. Eka brought her forearms up about five inches in front of her face, slightly separated, in what was one of the most comical looking and least effective boxing guards of all time.
Even with her terrible guard up, she kept getting peppered. Blows would slip in between her guard now and then and smack her right in the nose, in the collarbone, on her shoulder. She took step after step backward, peering through her defenses to try and find any opening. The redhead was relentless, punching and moving forward, punching and moving forward. Eka recognized that her situation was totally untenable. And even for such a clever girl, she had no idea what to do.
Circumstances soon became desperate, too. Her heel graced the turnbuckle, which meant that there was no more ground to retreat onto. A frown formed on her face, and then quickly turned into a look of quiet fear and obvious dismay. If she wanted to so something to get out of this dire situation, she recognized she needed to do it in short order. The raven haired girl lashed out, sending a sloppy straight left forward, hoping that her opponent would stop haranguing her.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Vanessa’s jabs weren’t merely jabs. To the untrained eye, they probably didn’t look like anything special, but she threw them differently. Instead of straight on, hers came at a downward angle, whipping out fast from below, almost as if her arm was a lash. A technique she’d been taught years ago, one that she liked to bring out every now and then - the Flicker Jab.
It was fast, punishing, and, as Eka would likely agree, was the perfect way to pressure an opponent. An experienced boxer would be able to counter them easily enough, but Eka wasn’t even close to that. She was being pushed back, going right where Vanessa wanted, further and further until….
Yeah. Back against the wall.
Vanessa smiled the moment Eka hit the turnbuckle. Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, and her right arm was just aching to get into the action. She cocked it back, moved forward, and-
”Ufff!” Vanessa’s head snapped back as she took a punch from nowhere. She’d been so focused on the offense that she’d almost forgotten her opponent had arms, too. She’d thought the Georgian was too scared to strike back, but she was wrong, and the price for that was a strike in the jaw.
Not enough to bring her down, no, but it left Vanessa wobbly for a golden second.

Re: Eka Guramishvili vs. Vanessa York - Generation Gap [FWC]
Eka blinked. She could not believe the punch worked. It was a sloppy thing, not even fit for a wrestling ring, but it came with enough strength that it staggered the woman. As it turned out, the Georgian girl had more power in her arms than even she thought, and was more capable than she suspected. But her back was still to the corner, and now she had a taste of Vanessa's supreme speed. The Georgian girl was not going to tarry, not even for a split second.
She surged forward, her head lowered and her arms forward. She groped blindly for Vanessa's legs while shooting her shoulder forward, hoping to get Vanessa's legs with her arms and the redhead's gut with her shoulder. It was a form tackle, one that would make both the head coach of Alabama football and her old high school wrestling instructor eminently proud. In it, she brought forward the force and desperation of a cornered mountain lion, trying to get out from under the long shadow of the turnbuckle.
This move was theoretically an offensive move, but Eka was using it in a far more defensive manner. In a perfect world, she would use this takedown to start off the match, in the center of the ring, to get her opponent down to the mat and use the move as a means of securing a submission. But here, Eka just wanted to be granted a certain freedom of movement, and an end to the flurry of jabs that put her back up against the wall.
