Georgia Flynn debut - vs. Abattoir

In the wake of the lariat, Abattoir had a few seconds to recover. She shifted back and forth, tentatively resting her weight on the leg that Georgia had been working over. A grimace crossed her face under the mask; the knee joint had taken quite the beating there. Had this match gone differently in the first half, she might well have had to tap in order to avoid risking serious damage.

Rookie or no rookie, this girl had a lot of unrefined talent - she just needed a better strategic mindset to go with it. Well, that kind of thing came with time and practice.

The nak muay took a moment to mop the sweat off her forehead, then leaned over to hoist Georgia back to her feet. She immediately clinched, reaching for double underhooks, and then tried for an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. It was a highly effective move, but her technique wasn't exactly perfect (she'd just recently figured out how to do the move, after all) and with her shoulder bothering her, there was a considerable window of opportunity to counter it.

That lariat had thrown Georgia for a loop, the brunette's head actually sagging forward to lean against Abattoir's mask as she picked her up and double hooked her arms.

The next thing Georgia knew, she was flying again, seeing the world turn upside down before she hit the mat flat, wind knocked out of her as she lay on her back, staring at the lights.

The scent of blood was in the water. This was never a good thing when facing Abattoir.

She was admittedly quite banged up, and was having to throw strikes with her non-dominant hand (to say nothing of kicks, which she didn't particularly trust herself to throw at the moment; being fresh out of the figure four, a single well-timed strike could buckle her knee). But there was a certain x-factor (not the kind with Justin Credible) to her type of fighter, where the minute they sensed they had an advantage they'd hold onto it like a pit bull. A surge of adrenaline invigorated her, and the next thing she knew, Abattoir was almost reflexively dragging the staggered Georgia to the center of the ring.

It was a remarkable thing, actually. The Abattoir that debuted in AFW would've probably hauled her upright and gone for a finisher, but this Abattoir was more calculating, less of a bloodlust-crazed psycho - or at least able to keep it strategically in check better than she used to. Instead, she dropped down in a lateral press and hooked the leg.

"One!"

There had been something comforting about the predictability of her swarming offense. Apparently even that small reassurance was gone now.

The pain in Georgia's chest finally seemed to lessen, her breathing coming easier, just in time for her to feel the pain in her back from the suplex as she was dragged to the center of the ring.

Still, it couldn't end like this. Her big debut in Japan, all that effort, ending with a lucky lariat and a belly suplex? No, no way, she had fought way too hard to go down like this!

With a loud yell, Georgia kicked out of the pin attempt before the two count, to the surprise and delight of the crowd!

This was definitely something of a critical moment; hitting a big move and having the other person just steamroll over it and plant you, especially if it was because of a tactical mistake on your part, tends to be an event that breaks a person in a fight. Abattoir had seen it time and again; she'd taken girls to the point where they just wanted out, and then that was it.

As Georgia kicked out, the nak muay grinned under her mask. Clearly this wasn't one of those times - or one of those opponents, for that matter, being as Georgia had made it obvious she wasn't going down without fighting Abattoir all the way. Splendid. That was the kind of spirit she was looking for.

She rolled off and steadily climbed to her feet, testing the stability of her stance - not great, but not unreliable, either - then, as the other girl was halfway up, hoisted her upright and sent her into the corner with an Irish whip. Bracing herself, Abattoir dashed in for a left shoulder charge in the corner. It wasn't the most devastating attack, but considering the state of her other shoulder and the risk of picking up speed on her damaged knee, it'd have to do as a setup. The real hard-hitting moves, well, those would be coming shortly.

Georgia shook her head as she rolled over, pushing herself up to her feet, shaking her fist in a sign of determination and rebellion against Abattoir, the crowd getting behind her and, mimicking her from earlier, clapping in unison to cheer her on.

Feeling motivated and energized, Georgia was almost up when her masked opponent grabbed her and pulled her up to her feet, whipping her to the corner.

Having hit her second wind, Georgia watched as Abattoir ran in close, then dodged to the side, avoiding the shoulder block and letting Abattoir hitting the turnbuckle shoulder first, the girl backing up a few steps from the recoil.

Taking advantage, Georgia let out a loud battle cry, moving to stand behind Abattoir before, in a move that got a loud "OOHHHHHHHH" out of the crowd, jumped straight up and kicked her legs out, locking them around Abattoir's head as she fell back, flipping herself down and pulling Abattoir back and over, spiking her headfirst to the mat with a Reverse Hurricanrana!

The shoulder charge seemed like a good idea right up until the last possible second, which was the point where Georgia dodged out of the corner, and also the point where Abattoir's eyes widened considerably.

Her opponent had waited just long enough - any longer and she would've gotten splattered, but had she dove out sooner, Abattoir might've had time to slow down or bail altogether on the move. As it was, there was no window of opportunity at all, and the nak muay crashed painfully into the turnbuckle. She'd come in so hard that she actually bounced off from the force of the impact; her head snapped back and she staggered backwards comically, shaking her head in a daze.

To her credit, Georgia capitalized perfectly. The swell of the crowd meant Abattoir knew something was happening for about a split-second, which was not nearly long enough to turn around, see what it was, and counter accordingly. Hell, it wasn't enough time to turn around, period, and by the time her mind registered that she should be doing something, Georgia's legs had clamped on her head, and the world was turning upside down, and then everything just sort of stopped.

Although Abattoir couldn't hear it over the sudden tinnitus noise, the audience was roaring; Georgia had spiked her perfectly on the top of her head with the rana, and she'd actually done sort of a headstand before collapsing in a heap. The excitement was reaching a crescendo as the nak muay lay there, pupils dilated, clearly out of this world. It was entirely possible she'd been knocked out altogether from the impact.

The crowd continued their loud roar, certain the rookie fighter was done for, but now thinking she was about to pull off a unbelievable upset!


"YES! GOTCHA! YOU'RE MINE NOW!"


Georgia yelled, rolling Abattoir over to her back and hooking the womans leg for a pin attempt, as the referee dropped down to start the count!

"ONE!"

The noise from the crowd was at an absolute fever pitch. This was looking to be one of the bigger debut upsets in AFW history. Georgia had things well and truly locked up for the moment, being as her opponent's eyes were staring half-open into the distance and she hadn't even twitched since being pinned.

"TWO!"

Abattoir's eyes focused. They glanced around wildly, then up to Georgia, and then widened noticeably, as if she was only now conscious of her predicament.

"THRE--"

An arm shot upwards just in time! At the 2.99 mark, Abattoir had just barely managed to shove one shoulder up - it was an unsteady, jerky motion, but she'd manage to avoid being counted out somehow. The fans gasped in disbelief. It was clear from her recovery and the wobbly kickout that she'd been flash KO'd by the hurricanrana. If she'd been out for a fraction of a second longer, this would be all over now.

Inside the nak muay's head, things were not quite as clear-cut. Everything seemed to be swimming around her. She remembered, uh...she'd suplexed Georgia, and then her memory jumped to a point where she was on her back and the referee was counting, which was a bad thing. The kickout had been basically instinctual - it'd take a few minutes of recovery for her to be running on anything other than impulse.

Georgia couldn't resist a grin as she pinned Abattoir. The girl had to be knocked out after that, she had her first victory in the bag!


Then Abattoir kicked out.

Georgia was as shocked as the crowd, spending a couple minutes just sitting up and getting to her feet, staring down at the masked girl and wondering just what the hell she had to do to keep Abattoir down!

Finally, Georgia snapped out of hit, moving through the ropes to stand on the ring apron, raising her arm in the air to signal she was going to put Abattoir away this time, waiting for the masked fighter to rise up before she would leap to the top rope and springboard off when she turned around, leaping towards her with her intended finisher, the Crossbody, diving head first to try and smash her body into Abattoirs!
