Kyo Akamatsu Vs. Kara Vela

Kara reaches back, her hand brushed against his arm. She tried again, this time slipping her hand into the crook of his arm but it slips out again. To no one's surprise Kyo doesn't let her escape attempts go unhindered. Kyo pulls Kara's leg where it really doesn't belong, and then pulls further. Her lips tremble with a final effort to remain stoic before her mouth opens.

"AAAAAAAH!" she screams, the first real scream of the match.

She hears Kyo talking over her scream, and she turns her head to try to catch Kyo out of the corer of her eye. She considers it, not for very long but just the fact that she considers it makes her angry at herself. She shuts her eyes and tries to put the pain out of her mind. Maybe it would be better to just take it, she isn't getting out.

That's when she hears something unexpected. Rian's voice. Rian, the guy who seems to be happiest when out of the spotlight, who blends into a crowd like some kind of spy, is standing up and shouting.

"Get out of that Kara! Come on, don't let him win like this!" he shouts, even over Vita's voice.

She would be smiling if she could, but his encouragement does its job. She turns her head enough to see Kyo out of the corner of her eye, refiled with determination. 

"Sorry, can't," is all she says.

Kara tries to escape again, except this time she will try to catch Kyo's right leg and pull it out from under him, hopefully throwing his balance off.

If that fails, she'll look for the nearest ropes and start crawling, hopefully dragging Kyo with her.

The crowd was hollering now as Kyo locked in the stretch muffler, demonstrating his skill in submissions on the poor newcomer. Many of Kyo's fans were cheering him on, but many others were cheering for Kara, even as Kyo's hold curved her attractive body in a painful arch. Kyo held his breath, keeping Kara's leg stretched across his shoulders as his opponent finally began to scream in pain. He admired her tenacity, and her bravery at holding it back for so long. A part of him found himself silently cheering her on as well, hoping she would escape or manage a crawl to the ropes-- it would feel like an anticlimax if she were to tap out so soon.

"YYYYEAH KYO!" Makie shouted from the sidelines. "You've got her! Keep it locked-- she's gonna tap!"

"Yeah, Kyo, come on, keep it locked!" Toshio added. He paused, hearing some very enthusiastic cheers for Kara not far from him, and frowned. "Don't let her go, Kyo!" he shouted, almost reflexively countering the other guy's cheers. "Come on, make her tap!"

Even as shouts for and against him screamed up from the audience, Kyo saw Kara manage to turn to face him and answer his call for her submission. The next thing he knew, Kara's arm was shooting back and grabbing his ankle. "Tch--!" he hissed in surprise as he was yanked off-balance, the move causing him to fall onto his butt and lose his grip on Kara's leg.

The crowd applauded Kara's bold escape, even as Kyo tried to kick his leg free and roll to his knees. It must not have been easy for Kara to reach so far back while in the stretch muffler, he realized. So far, this girl's tenacity was impressing him...

The moment Kyo's weight falls off of her she scrambles towards the nearest ropes. She doesn't try to hold onto Kyo's foot once she gets free. She grabs onto the bottom rope and pulls herself to a sitting position, looking out towards the crowd. She's surprised how loud some of them are cheering, or maybe that was just her own ears ringing.

"Hah! I knew you could do it! In your faces!" Vita shouts, half at Kara and half at Kyo's friends, or family, or whatever. Kara wasn't paying that much attention to anything outside the ring.

She grabs the middle rope, pulling herself up and ready to kick some a- ow. Her right leg aches from doing it's best scorpion impression, and though she manages to stand she isn't ready to take off for another wild tackle. She does turn to face Kyo, though he's a little
blurry through all the sweat poring down her forehead. She's already running low on steam, she might be able to get out of something like that again, maybe twice if she stretches her chances. A third hit? She's not so sure she can resist that long.

But Kara's too winded to go on the offensive right away, she will hang on the ropes trying to catch her breath on guard for Kyo's next move.

Some more shouting to Toshio's left caused him to look again at the very vocal Kara fans, and give them an annoyed frown. Normally, he didn't mind it when audience members cheered for someone one of his siblings was fighting against-- after all, most AFW wrestlers had their own fanbases, and unless those fans were screaming truly nasty things at his family, he'd let it slide. But the two fans to the left of him seemed to be making this personal, by directing some of their taunts at him.

"Your girl Kara had a lucky escape, that's all!" he shouted back at them, a confident grin on his face. "If my bro gets her in another hold, it'll be game over for her, just you wait!"

Kyo, of course, remained ignorant of the little war of words that was going on-- his attention was focused solely on Kara, who was pulling herself up to the middle rope. She was visibly struggling to pull herself upright, no doubt weighted down by a hurting leg, and it was clear that the stretch muffler had left her in pretty bad shape. He considered backing away, giving her space, and waiting for her to leave the ropes on her own. As Kara glanced at him again, however, he thought again: her sweat streaked face bore an expression of exhaustion and pain, but grim determination still shone in her eyes. No, Kyo decided, he wasn't going to insult her by holding back.

Wasting no time, he would get to his feet and walk over to Kara as she was propping herself up, grabbing her arm to pull her upright and push her against the ropes. The movement would cause his bare abs to press up briefly against Kara's chest as his eyes met hers. "Not bad so far," he'd say, before backing away to ram a knee up into her blue-clad abdomen, hoping to knock the wind out of her.

If the blow connected and did the trick, then he would grab onto Kara's head, turn and break into a run, aiming to drop down and flip her over his shoulder onto her butt in a snapmare, before dropping down to his knees behind her and wrapping his arms across her throat and forehead in a sleeper. Against a tough and strong opponent like Kara, Kyo knew he had to weaken her in any way possible in order to defeat her...

“Yea right, Kara’s seen worse than your bro, she’s beat me,” Vita says half-jokingly with a smirk. “Just wait till she gets a hold of him.”

In the ring Kara was wishing for the confidence that Vita has in her. She’s gasping for air like a dying woman gulps water, she can barely see though the sweat pouring down her forehead, and she knows Kyo isn’t the type to let her catch her breath.

Just as she predicted Kyo moves towards her before she can get herself back in the match. She hears him talking, and in her state his comment sounds more patronizing to her ears than anything else. Sincere or not he doesn’t waste time talking, and rams his knee into her abdomen. The blow hits so hard that Kara bends over his knee, precious air rushes from her lungs and the world starts to get blurry. She doesn’t have the breath to stop him from grabbing her arm and sending her flying over his shoulder. Kara lands on her butt, shaking the ring with the impact and letting out a girlish yelp that she hopes Kyo didn’t hear.

The blow knocks the sense out of her for a moment, or perhaps the various bruises from the match has started to slow her down. Regardless, when Kyo wraps his arms around her neck she doesn’t have much strength to stop him or even slow him down. But she isn’t winded enough to just let him choke her into unconsciousness without putting up a fight. As Kyo starts to put on the squeeze Kara’s hands clasp onto Kyo’s wrists and she pores on the pressure, trying to pry him off of her but her strength isn’t what it was at the beginning of the fight.

With Kara back on the defensive Vita just gives an exasperated sigh before realizing she was still talking.

“Eh well she’s just a little tired,” she says with a sheepish smile.

Toshio laughed at Vita's sheepish reply. "Oh yeah? By the looks of things, she's going to be even more tired in a few seconds!" he replied. "Kyo's got her beat in skill and experience, and submission holds like that are a specialty of his! It's going to be lights out for her before long, just you watch!"

Kyo, at this point, could hear the argument at ringside, and gritted his teeth, partly to shut out the outside noise, but also because Kara met his grip with determined resistance. No sooner had he locked in the rear naked choke when Kara grabbed at his wrists and began pulling. The American girl was breathing hard, and her face was drenched with sweat, but even after all she had been through, she still had a very strong grip.

"Going...to have to...do better than that..." he whispered to Kara. Truth be told, however, he felt his grip slowly but surely weakening: slowly but surely, Kyo's arm around Kara's throat was pulled upwards, so that both arms were now around Kara's head and twisting it to the side awkwardly. The crowd stomped as the two wrestlers pitted strength against strength, but Kyo felt his grip slowly coming loose...

As Kara strained to pull Kyo off of her she, with her vision letterboxed between his two arms the ring starts shaking. She wonders for a second why until her eyes drift to the crowd does she see that their stomping their feet, cheering the two of them on. That’s louder than any crowd she ever got before, and all of them are getting into the fight, calling for a good show.
‘Well I’ll give them a good show alright, just have to get out of this hold first,’ Kara thinks to herself.

It’s not easy, not by a long shot, but sure enough Kyo’s grip starts to slip and his arms unwrap around her head. She can feel his arms shake as they try to keep the hold in place, but Kara still has enough gas in the tank to keep on pulling Kyo’s arms apart. All the while she plants her feet underneath her and pushes herself and her opponent to their feet. The crowd’s stomping come on louder and quicker as the two wrestlers struggle against each other, reaching a crescendo when Kara, with a final burst of strength pulls Kyo’s arms clear of her head as she screams,

“That’s… my… line!”

The moment she frees herself Kara will try to throw her head backwards to catch Kyo in the face, hopefully stunning him long enough for her to do something. If her blow lands she will try grab Kyo’s right arm and toss him over her shoulder onto his back.

Through the struggle Vita was on her feet cheering Kara on until someone reminds her to sit down. When Kara breaks free she doesn’t bother trying to hold herself down and jumps into the air pumping her fists.

“Yea Kara I knew you could do it!” she yells.

Intensity and strain showed on the faces of the two wrestlers as they struggled, Kyo gritting his teeth as he tried to maintain the sleeper, all the while battling against Kara's prying arms. Sweat rolled down his forehead as he felt his arms slowly but surely parting, the American's own strength pushing back against his. Around them, the audience was going crazy at this test of strength, shouting and stomping at either of them to pull through.

And then, from out of nowhere, Kara's head slammed backward into Kyo's face. "UGGH!" he grunted as stars exploded across his vision. His grip was released as he stumbled back-- except Kara was not letting go of him. He felt the blood rush to his head as Kara yanked on him in an arm drag, executing an almost perfect judo toss as she threw him over her shoulder. He slammed, back-first into the mat, the impact causing him to jacknife upright briefly. Gravity kicked in, however, and he collapsed onto his side, clutching his hurting back. "Aaaahh..." he moaned, still feeling woozy from the headbutt in addition to everything else.

"Kyo! Kyo, get up! Kyo!"

Toshio and Makie's cries could only barely be heard over the ringing in Kyo's ears as he tumbled onto his side, his athletic body describing a sweat-sheened arch as he clutched his back. He was conscious of very little besides the way his skull throbbed like a swollen drum, a testimony to Kara's figurative and literal hard-headedness. He gave a low groan. No matter how insistently his siblings cried for him to do so, Kyo wasn't going to be moving any time soon.

Ready or not, however, Kyo did find himself moving as his arm was pulled, rolling him over onto his knees and sending him stumbling up drunkenly to his feet. He blinked, trying to re-orient his swirling vision, but he wasn't given time to recover before he was yanked forward. The next thing Kyo knew, Kara's thighs closed around his head. He gave an alarmed gasp and went red-faced, both from the skull-crushing pressure of Kara's powerful legs and from being in the position he was in. He squirmed, but Kara was quick to wrap her arms around his waist, and for a brief moment Kyo was distracted by Kara's warm breath against his bare skin, and her chest compressing itself against his back.

That is, until he was lifted upside down, still clutching in futility at Kara's thighs as the blood rushed to his head. He wasn't suspended long, however, before gravity kicked in, and he was driven down, hard. Colours exploded across his vision as an impact jarred up his spine, his limbs jolting awkwardly before he flopped down to the mat like an unmoving sack of meat. The audience erupted at the sight of Kyo, lying face down and unmoving, in front of Kara.
