Kyo Akamatsu Vs. Kara Vela

…The answer, it turns out, is not that great.

Kara drives forward, eager to the point of giddiness to get started. Kyo struggling to hold her back only drives her on, making her eager to shove him down quickly. Perhaps even get him into a good position. Her eagerness drives her forward too quickly and lets Kyo slip away, and around her. She has enough time to grunt in annoyance at her own slowness before Kyo slips behind her and twists her arm. She bites back a yelp, more out of surprise than pain.

But despite being caught by surprise by his speed she tries to keep her composure and think straight.

“Alright so you know your stuff, but it’s going to take more than some fancy move to win this,” she says, trying to look over her shoulder to look at Kyo.

She will try to swipe her arm around and catch her opponent’s shoulder with her elbow. If her swing connect she will try to break free towards the nearest ropes.

Kyo's move went off without a hitch as he darted in behind Kara, wringing her arm behind her back and giving it a sharp twist. It was more of a wake up call than an actual submission hold, but Kyo locked it in all the same, amping the pressure on her wrist.

"As it so happens, Miss Kara, I have plenty of 'fancy moves,'" Kyo quipped back. Kara's response was quick-- her elbow came whistling back, glancing Kyo in the shoulder. It was only because Kyo had been expeting a response that it was just a glance in the first place, but it was enough to make him release her.

As Kara ran towards the ropes, Kyo followed after her. If she came bouncing off, then he would duck low, to evade her and/or build up some momentum as she rebounded: otherwise, he would keep his distance, as per the rules, if she was holding the ropes to keep off limits.

Kara winces a little as Kyo puts on the hold. As she swings backwards but Kyo deftly dodges her blow, her elbow barely brushes up against him.

‘Damn this guy is fast,’ she thinks to herself.

But the strike does get him to let her go and she picks up her pace. She turns around just as she gets to the ropes and throws her weight into them. In the second that the ropes stretch under her weight she looks back at Kyo and sees him close behind her, crouching low and ready for her to spring back at him.

‘No not fast, just good at reading me, he’s expecting me to come at him,’ she thinks to herself. ‘Maybe I should play it safe? …Nah,’

Barely missing a step Kara will try to bounce off the ropes, and make a beeline for Kyo. She’ll try to kick out with her right leg mid run, trying to trip Kyo’s feet out from under him. Of course this might lead to her face planting on the mat if she messes up but she hadn’t thought that far ahead.

Kyo's focus was now completely on the match as he sent Kara into the ropes. There were no fears of a beatdown, no anxieties over facing another heel like Juni Acker, not even any thoughts on the looks of his opponent. There was just the match, and the steps he was going to take to win it. And the first of those steps, he knew, would be to outmanouver and out-move Kara to put her on the defensive.

He was anticipating a retaliation as Kara came running back, but the one she used surprised him--- a sudden kick, aimed at his legs. Cursing, he nonetheless spun, Kara's boot catching a glancing blow across his shin. Pain shot up his leg, but he held back a cry of pain, using his momentum and Kara's to spin around facing her back. If he managed this, then he would waste no time kicking both legs up in a drop kick...although whether or not Kara turned to face him in time remained to be seen....

Kara thunders a cross the ring, and her boot strikes out at Kyo barely scrapping by his shin. She brings her foot back down to awkwardly stop herself from running into the far ropes.

She can feel her blood boiling in frustration. Not because she hurt herself, though the sudden stop does make her ankle ache a bit. No its because that big sweeping, someone is going to get hurt, move just nicked him. Almost like risky moves don't always pay off, she quips to herself. She turns around to face Kyo, a sarcastic comment about how he should stand still on her lips. And that's when she sees a pair of boots rushing towards her.

'Oh,' was all that crossed her mind before twin boots crash into her chest.

A hundred and sixty pounds of muscle and bone send her flat on her ass and shakes the ring with the impact. She sits up in a hurry, holding her her aching chest with her left hand and propping herself up with her right.

'Ok so he hits hard too, should have figured,'

She'll try to get back to her feet using the ropes, but she doubts she can get up before Kyo gets to her.

Kyo's shin throbbed dully from Kara's hit, but he put it out of his mind as he leaped, his boots slamming hard into Kara's chest. The blow sent the girl crashing onto her back, and Kyo felt some elation at getting a good hit in so early in the match. He put the elation, like the pain, out of his mind: getting overconfident and underestimating his opponent was the most surefire way to lose this match.

Rolling back up to his feet, Kyo saw Kara propping herself upright, and wasted no time in walking up to her. "Not a bad try, with that sweep," he said, the sportsman in him still giving her an encouraging comment even as he grabbed her by the arm. The moment she was upright, however, Kyo would wrap his arms around her firm waist briefly hugging her from behind...before tilting backwards, aiming to nail her with a quick and effective back body drop!

Kara had barely gotten to her feet before Kyo's on top of her. She only half hears him saying something, and from that she couldn't decide if he was trying to be friendly or patronizing.

She tries to pull away but Kyo's arms wrap around her waist, and she instinctively brings her arms down to try to pry him off. She almost succeeds when Kyo lifts her off the ground. The next thing she knows she's looking at the ceiling and plummeting back down to the mat. In desperation she twists her body so that she lands on her shoulder instead of her back.

Pain laces up her left arm as she hits the ground and she almost bounced off the mat like a skipping stone. She doesn't want to think about what would have happened if her head took the brunt of that hit. Then again she probably wouldn't be thinking for a while after a hit like that.

'Got to turn this around, come on Kara get up,'

With a groan of pain Kara props herself up with her right arm and turns to face Kyo, her posture low and on guard for what he might do next.

"You're going to have to do better than that," she says through clenched teeth.

Kyo's back body drop went off without a hitch. Well, almost without a hitch-- he had been hoping to keep his arms locked around the fit girl's waist to follow up with a quick pin, but the way she twisted in midair put a stop to that-- the movement caused his grip to loosen and break the in mid-toss, scrapping that plan. Landing on his butt, Kyo quickly saw that Kara had landed on her shoulder, rather than her back, and was already rolling over and pushing herself upright.

He wasted no time, pushing himself upright as well and flinging himself forwards, trying to lock Kara tightly in a side headlock, pressing her firmly against his abs while trying to ensnare one of her arms under his own. This was more to keep her under control than anything else. "Oh believe me," he said back to her, "I intend to." Unless Kara managed to successfully resist him, Kyo would suddenly drop backwards, pulling Kara down with him, before snapping his legs up around her waist as he tried to wear he down a little with a bodyscissor, hoping to set her up for future holds...

Before she can even get a breath in Kyo's in her face, despite being ready for something her left arm flounders and her right can't keep him off by itself. The next thing she knows his abs are in her face and his arm is around her neck. She's so surprised that she can't stop Kyo from pulling back and Kara falls right into his body scissor.

She would appreciate the closeness if it wasn't at the cost of her air, or if the air she got wasn't sweaty Kyo. The match had barely begun and she hadn't gotten a single good hit in and had gotten her ass kicked in front her friends. Might be time to pack it in before things get really bad.

'Damn it I'm not going down like this, not when my legs still work,'

Kara wraps her arms around his abdomen, to make sure he doesn't just let go, and with a grunt stands up trying to lift Kyo with her.

"I. Told. You... you'll need to do better than that!" she says breathing deep with every word and screaming at the end.

As she screams she'll try to slam Kyo by basically falling with him between her and the mat. It might hurt her too, scratch that it will hurt, but she hopes it'll hurt him more and get him to let go.

For a moment, Kyo had Kara locked down tightly in a combination head scissor and frontal headlock, giving his female opponent a demonstration that his strength wasn't to be underestimated. In the background, the crowd went wild, and he could hear Makie and Toshio cheering from the sidelines and urging him on. From here, it would be a simple matter to angle his body sideways, shift his grip, and transition the hold into an armbar to prevent Kara from countering.

Kara, however, had other ideas.

Even as he felt her ragged breath against his abs and heard her groaning slightly, Kara suddenly wrapped her arms around his midsection, and then, at that moment, it was his turn to be reminded of how strong his opponent was. In a matter of seconds, Kara had pushed herself back up to her feet and was lifting Kyo up with her, squeezing hard at his midsection and making him wince, even as he squeezed back.

And then Kara dropped forward and slammed Kyo back-first into the mat. The combination of impact and having Kara slam down against him blew the air out of his lungs, and his limbs came loose as he lay splayed on the mat, winded.
