The parking lot was cleared. Only a few cars to worry about, some trash here and there. The lights were flickering, going off every few minutes. That would be a problem; Carmen would have to be ready to fight in the dark. She'd memorized the lot fairly well - she wouldn't be totally taken off guard in it, she hoped. Little weird, she thought the AFW could afford a little better maintenance.

Anyway. Ready, she was. Eager, even.

She leaned against a van near the middle of the lot, praying as she waited for her opponent to show up. Her usual pre-fight ritual, but this wouldn't be like her usual fights. No rings. No ropes. No gloves. No rounds. Just her and her opponent beating the shit out of each other until one of them couldn't stand anymore. She was a long way from the Olympics, now. A whole new world, with all sorts of new opponents waiting to test her fists against, and a worldwide audience to witness it. She'd heard a lot of things about the competition here - the strangest, but also the strongest, men and women, and this was one of the few places that put no restrictions on who she could fight, male or female. Total freedom.

Her spine tingled. Blood rushed. This was going to be fun.

"God bless the ring."

Kuro arrived at the dimly lit parking lot with a rather flat expression. A backstage brawl like this was nothing new to her. She had her shares of this kind of fights during her high school years. How long had it been since then? Kuro let out a sigh as she approached her would be opponent who's standing a couple of yards in front of her.

She looked around at the lot and the lights which keep flickering. She even changed her footwear with a pair of black boots for tonight's occasion.

Kuro stood silent in front of her would be opponent. Her expression remained calm, although she's excited about the upcoming fight. She did a little research before hand. This Carmen girl was a boxer, certainly not the first she ever faced, although Kuro had mostly dealt with amateur level boxers in the past. Well, a fight is a fight. Whether it's boxing, wrestling, or just pure brawling, she definitely didn't plan to lose.

Carmen opened her eyes and did a Hail Mary, looking back as her opponent approached Kurohime. She knew the name, but not much else - she water to go into this one a bit blind. The federation would be throwing all sorts of things her way, she needed to learn how to adapt to new styles on the fly.

She pushed off the van and walked her way, looking her over from head to toe. Good body. Strong, but slim, about Carmen's own frame. Loose clothes and not too much of them; maybe a quick mover, agile, she guessed. And a serious face.

Carmen's tapped feet padded along the floor, circling her once before getting into position with a Peek-a-boo stance. Her bare fists were clenched tight, eyes focused with iron intensity.

She didn't say a word. They were fighters in a fight. What more need be said?

The quiet type, huh? Kuro guessed as she only watched her opponent circled around to check her out. Either she's nervous, or just quiet. Too early to tell, but it wouldn't really make a difference anyways. Kuro took a step back slowly, her arms moved up for a battle stance. It's about time to test this boxer.

Wouldn't hurt to try...

Without warning, the pale skinned girl would dash towards her opponent. She seemed ready, so why wait? Kuro would draw her right arm back, pretending as if she's going to throw a punch. When she got closer to Carmen, however, she would dive down in an attempt to tackle the darker skinned girl down to the ground. After all she's not the type who would play her opponent's game.

The tacks took her off guard, it was a good fake, and the followup was swift - the girl was fast on her feet, and she wasn't afraid to close the distance, and a problem to deal with.

But she would deal with it.

Her stance was solid; the tackle knocked her back, drove out her wind, but if getting her on her back was that easy, she never would have made it out of Puerto Rico. She braced herself before she could be driven into a car, and she would take advantage of Kuro's exposed back by drilling herewith a few elbows, dropping then hard into her ribs.

"Nnngh!"

Kuro's eyes widened as instead of taking her opponent down she ended up receiving a solid blow on her back instead. Okay, that was bad.... She dropped to one knee, feeling slightly dazed with the sharp hit. Fortunately, a hit like that wouldn't be enough to take her out. She wouldn't even made it to her gang otherwise would she? The paler girl gritted her teeth, and soon her expression changed. She smirked.

"Not bad... but how about this...!" Kuro hissed while swinging one of her legs to sweep Carmen's, hoping that could take her opponent down.

That was a little more effective; Carmen had been preparing to take wider varieties of attack, but she was still a boxer at the core, and leg sweeps weren't exactly commonplace in the ring. The kick swept through her stance and brought her down other back, gritting her teeth as she fell on the asphalt, glad she decided to go for a one- piece instead of the usual top and shorts.

She didn't stay down long, though; she rolled back in a somersault, increasing the distance between then and landing on her feet. She burst forth as soon as she got good footing, coming low, bobbing left and right, then coming at Kuro hard and fast - if she can close the distance, she'all throw a quick left jab, then strike out with an uppercut, aiming for the stomach

"We're even now..." Kuro muttered as she watched Carmen fell down on the solid ground.

Her opponent was quick to recover and rolled away from her before she could capitalize on the fall, however. Kuro just sighed and got up as well, knowing that it wouldn't end with just one of them backing off. Her opponent would come again at her, and she needed to prepare herself as soon as possible. Just as she got up, Carmen was already on her again, doing a couple of footwork before throwing a punch.

Kuro backed away, narrowly avoiding the punch. When her opponent followed up with an uppercut, however, she didn't have too much time to dodge again. She did what she could, which was twisting herself to the side, causing the punch to his her arm instead of her midsection.

"Ugh!" grunted the pale girl.

That stung, but still better than taking it with her stomach. Kuro grimaced and backed away again. Exchanging blows was never the part of her plan, although it's impossible to dodge everything. She kept her distance from Carmen, luring her opponent to come at her. Should the girl take the bait, Kuro would charge as well, planning to grab an arm of her opponent to pull her closer, so she could drive her knee onto Carmen's midsection!

Nice dodge - if this girl hadn't spent any time in a real ring, she should have thought about it on the side. Good form, and that uppercut had been textbook. Not too many could have avoided it like that.

Never one to let a gap stay widened, Carmen closed in and paid for her reflex, getting grabbed by her arm, opening her defenses like a door, exposed on the right. She tried to pull away, but her grip was iron clad - too evenly matched to get away easy, and before she had the chance to try harder, Kuro's knee shot into her stomach, folding her in half.

She gasped, stumbling forward, but manged to wrap her arm around Kuro's leg before she could bring it down from the knee. Gritting her teeth, she'll try to jerk back and toss Kuro over her shoulder, hoping she doesn't weigh too much - she's been lea ting throws, but they're not her thing yet, to put it in a mild way.
And, of course, the lights pick this moment to flicker off.

Kuro smirked as her knee connected with Carmen's stomach. Another one would do the job in knocking the girl down, but her opponent reacted faster than her. She gasped as her knee was caught, and before she could try to pull herself away or strike at the girl, her relatively light form was pulled and tossed off.

"Agh!" Kuro grunted as she landed hard on her back, before the lights suddenly went off. "Huh...?"

The darkness might just have helped her, but she still needed to react. Carmen was still nearby after all, and even if the couldn't see too well, it wouldn't be too hard to catch her if she's too slow. With the pain on her back, obviously it wasn't easy to escape, though. Kuro woudl try to shift around instead, before crawling backwards using her hands, while preparing to jerk her foot should anything grabbed it or something.
