Strategy: Saoirse primarily uses explosive slams and high impact strikes to break and batter her opponents before putting them away with her finisher, and doesn’t often deviate from this simple gameplan. She has a handful of submission holds she can comfortably use to wear down opponents, and won’t hesitate to incorporate a smother or hentai tactic if it is deemed useful, though it is rare for these to be the main focus of her offense outside of match types that specifically encourage or require their use.

Chokebomb: A move she picked up after wrestling Scarlet Farley in Cutlass Wrestling. Grabbing her opponent by the neck with both hands, Saoirse uses her impressive strength to lift her target high into the air before slamming them down onto their back with all her might, often in a sitout position so she can immediately try to pin them after. On lighter opponents, she is also capable of using a deadlift variation of the move.

Spear: Running full speed at her opponent, Saoirse throws herself at her foe and seeks to blast them off their feet by driving herself shoulder-first into their midsection with explosive impact.

Kill Stroke: Saoirse hoists her opponent up onto her shoulders in a wrist-clutch fireman’s carry position, then drops into a seated position while driving her foe straight down onto their head and neck and simultaneously bringing a leg down on top of their chest. She usually holds this position after delivering the move to initiate an immediate pin attempt.

Personality: Saoirse hates small talk and dislikes when people waste time and words on unimportant things, and as such does not say much herself unless she believes she has something important to say. Because of this she can often seem quite standoffish. Despite her apparently serious nature, she is not mean-spirited or unkind, though she does have a dry sense of humor. Saoirse has a strong sense of honor and loyalty, and respects others who demonstrate that they do as well.

Past/History: As a child, Saoirse was always bigger than most of the other kids. That gave her an advantage in sports, which was part of why she was so heavily involved with them all the way through high school. Volleyball in particular was her favorite, and she was the star player for her school’s team. The other reason she participated in sports was to provide herself with temporary escapes from her toxic home environment.

Her younger sister, Fiona, was diagnosed with primary immune deficiency shortly after her birth. During her childhood she frequently required a lot of attention and care from the family because she was often terribly sick. Their surly father believed letting Fiona get over her illnesses naturally was the only way she would ever get better, and used that to justify his lack of assistance, while their mother was rarely sober enough to be of any help. So it essentially fell to Saoirse to look after her sickly sister. Seeing Fiona’s condition taught her the importance of taking care of her own body, and as a result Saoirse made a habit of frequent exercise and eating healthy from an early age. Weightlifting came to the forefront of her athletic focus, and little did she know then how important that would become to her career later on.

When Saoirse was 21, her father started to become abusive. Refusing to further endanger Fiona by letting her stay with their neglectful parents any longer, she took her sister and left. While they lived alone together, it was Fiona who suggested wrestling as a career path for Saoirse. Fiona had watched it frequently when she was sick and bedridden, and knew of a local promotion called Cutlass Wrestling. Saoirse felt confident she had the body for it, but if she was going to do this, she wanted to do it right. So she first found a wrestling school to enroll in, and trained for nearly a year there while working two part time jobs to pay the bills in the meantime. During her training, she met and befriended someone who owned a costume design company and frequently made custom gear for wrestlers. During one of her training sessions she had lifted a grown man up and thrown him across the ring with little effort, and someone made an offhand comment about how “barbaric” her strength was. That had earned her the nickname “The Barbarian,” which served as the inspiration Saoirse and her friend needed to come up with her gimmick and gear.

Soon after, Saoirse The Barbarian made her debut for Cutlass Wrestling, donning a leather bikini designed to look like metallic armor, looking like a character out of a fantasy novel. As The Barbarian, she was a simple brute who seemed to love nothing more than combat, and used raw strength to cleave through her opponents. Things started off well as she amassed a good winning streak, even earning her an opportunity at the championship fairly soon. But the Dread Pirate Captain and ace of Cutlass Wrestling, Scarlet Farley, was a champion far out of Saoirse’s league. Scarlet decimated the Barbarian and beat her in only a matter of minutes. Saoirse still has no memory of how the match ended, only that she woke up to the sight of the pirate captain standing over her with a boot planted on her chest. The Barbarian, rather than feel shame at her humbling defeat, was awed and inspired by Scarlet’s prowess. She decided that day that that was the level she wanted to reach some day. However, just as she was beginning that journey, Cutlass Wrestling was unexpectedly forced to close its doors due to financial issues.

Saoirse spent the next few years as a free agent wrestling wherever she could across Europe, taking on opponents of all shapes, sizes and styles to improve herself. Eventually, her efforts were noticed by AFW talent scouts, who contacted Saoirse with a contract offer for the Friction brand. She was hesitant about accepting, knowing Fiona wouldn’t be able to go to Japan with her. But their friend from the costume design company offered to take her in, and Fiona strongly urged her to accept the deal. So, The Barbarian boarded the next flight to Japan, eager to see how this new chapter of her career would unfold...

Fun Facts:

- She absolutely loves romantic comedies. The cheesier, the better.

- Saoirse had a strong independent record outside of Cutlass Wrestling, but there was one woman who always seemed to have her number. She was a jiu jitsu specialist, and whenever they wrestled the girl was able to take her down and twist her into submission despite Saoirse being far larger and stronger. Eventually this rival became so confident against her she started winning the matches with holds geared specifically toward humiliation. After their last bout, Saoirse’s record against her was an embarrassing 0-10.

- The correct pronunciation of her name is “ser-sha.” After having spent so much time in Ireland where no one had a problem saying it correctly, once she started traveling for her wrestling career she was surprised to find many couldn’t pronounce it correctly when reading it aloud until she corrected them. It’s happened so much it’s become a pet peeve of hers, and now several of her closest friends often intentionally mispronounce her name just to tease her.
