Wrestling Information
Strategy: Gabriela utilizes a unique blend of Capoeira and Lucha Libre-style wrestling. She throws powerful kicks from unusual angles and positions to catch opponents off guard, and dissorient them with fluid, high-speed takedowns. A staple of her unorthodox offense is a handstand, out of which she has a surprising number of options of moves to spring into, many of which are hard to predict due to their unusual nature. What ties the whole package together is her dangerous speed, bolstering the impacts of her kicks, and making it even harder for opponents to keep up with her already abnormal techniques.
Style: Capoeira / Lucha Libre
Preferred Attacks:
-Hurricanrana
-Flying Headscissor Takedown
-Scissor Holds
-Kicks… LOTS of kicks
Preferred Match Types: Any
Physical Stats:
Endurance: ★★★☆☆
- Spoiler:
- Her stamina is excellent, but she’s not exactly a tank when it comes to taking damage.
- Spoiler:
- She’s no power lifter, but she’s stronger than she looks. Watch out for those kicks.
- Spoiler:
- Quick as lightning.
- Spoiler:
- Decent, but handles herself much better when on the attack.
- Spoiler:
- Her style is highly unorthodox, but her execution of it is fluid and precise.
Wrestling Stats:
Strikes: ★★★★★
- Spoiler:
- Kicks like a mule.
- Spoiler:
- Not her focus, but has some creative ways to apply holds. Her scissor holds are pretty nice too.
- Spoiler:
- Fairly strong for a woman her size, but rarely uses power moves in matches.
- Spoiler:
- She’s fast and comes from a Lucha Libre background. She can fly.
- Spoiler:
- Another area she can be pretty creative on her feet with, though escaping submission holds once they’re applied is sometimes a struggle for her.
Signature Moves:
Handstand: Gabriela often employs a handstand as an unorthodox fighting stance. From this she can execute one of several possible moves depending on her situation, such as these examples:
- Headscissor Takedown:
- Helicopter Kick:
- Leg Sweep:
Missile Dropkick / Gabby-roonie: Leaping from the top rope, Gabby slams both feet into her foe’s chest to deliver a missile dropkick. After, she often picks herself up with a breakdancing spin she calls the “Gabby-roonie.” Of course it can be done at just about any point, but currently those who’ve watched her have come to expect it after the Missile Dropkick.
- Missile Dropkick / Gabbie-roonie:
Poison Rana: Sitting astride her opponent’s shoulders (sometimes using a handspring to get there), she leans back while pulling with her legs to spike her target right onto their head or neck.
- Poison Rana:
Upswing: Leaning down and balancing herself on her hands, Gabriela swings her foot up, aiming a powerful high kick to the head.
- Upswing:
Finishing Moves:
Cyclone Kick: Standing with her back to her groggy opponent, Gabriela twists around and throws herself through the air while spinning horizontally, swinging her feet around and slamming her sole right into the head or face of her opponent. The speed and power she gets behind this often packs knockout potential.
- Cyclone Kick:
Game Winner: Running to the side of a dazed opponent, Gabriela leaps up before springing off of either the ropes or something else near her target, using the push-off to launch her foot into a violent, airbourne roundhouse kick right to the head.

Personality: Gabriela, also known as “Gabby” by some, is a bright, radiant young woman who tries to have the most fun she can with any situation she’s in, and is as friendly as they come. She’s energetic and easily gets bored when cooped up at home, so more often than not she spends her free time training, or looking for something fun to do in town. In the ring she’s a good sport, and loves doing flashy, exciting things to get the crowd cheering.
Past/History: Gabby’s father was a wrestler on the local independent scene in Brazil, and was very open in wanting her to follow in his footsteps. Her mother allowed him to start training her at a young age, on the condition that school would be her number one priority at least until she graduated high school. Her father initially only thought of school as a distraction and waste of time for Gabby, but saw the various sports clubs as a way to use that time to help train her body.
As for where Gabby stood on it all herself, she was entirely on board with her father’s plan for her. She’d fallen in love with pro-wrestling the first time she saw her father compete, and there was rarely a moment she ever considered pursuing any other kind of career. Gabby was never a straight-A student, but did well enough to pass her classes and keep her mother appeased while her real focus went to wrestling training and sports, mainly football (don’t refer to it as “soccer” to her). She and her group of friends also frequently got together for freestyle dancing, where Gabby learned to breakdance, which came to play a bigger role in shaping her wrestling career than she ever would’ve guessed.
In her mid-teens, her father suggested learning a martial art to add to her wrestling skillset, and specifically recommended Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Gabriela didn’t like that style, however. Despite its clear effectiveness, all the constant jockeying for position just wasn’t for her. She ultimately decided on Capoeira instead, finding its flashy acrobatics and agility far more appealing. And though she hadn’t planned it this way, her breakdancing skill provided a solid base that made learning some of the more nimble and difficult Capoeira techniques easier for her to master.
After graduating high school, Gabriela went straight into the Brazilian wrestling scene, with her father acting as an agent to help get her booked, and as a tag partner once in a while. Putting her wrestling training to competitive use for the first time, she struggled initially, amassing a rather large losing streak. It was disheartening, but her father encouraged and coached her along the way, helping her improve where she was weak and learn from her mistakes. As time went on, Gabby learned to incorporate her Capoeira with her wrestling rather seamlessly, and she finally started winning consistently. Her father was so impressed and proud that he started talking about how Gabby should try going to Japan to compete in the “big leagues.” She laughed it off and dismissed it as hyperbole. Wanting to show his daughter how much he believed in her, he mailed a few of her match tapes to AFW HQ in Tokyo. Deep down neither of them ever expected to get a response. Gabby appreciated her father’s display of support, but didn’t expect it to be anything more than that.
Needless to say, it was a thrilling shock to both of them when AFW’s recruiting staff did reach out to them, offering Gabriela a position on the Friction brand. Before her departure for Japan, her father held a self-produced show in her honor. The main event was Gabby’s sendoff match, where she teamed with her father one last time. With her time in Brazil coming to an emotional and abrupt end, the next day she boarded a plane for Japan, eager for the chance to take her career to the next level.
Fun Facts:
- Gabby has a big kink for foot domination, which part of why she usually wrestles barefoot.
- Sometimes her opponents like it too...:
- She’s a devout fan of Brazilian football, and can’t stand when people refer to it as “soccer.” Usually it takes a lot to get under her skin, but this pet peeve is a button that does the job very quickly.
- She is fluent in Portugese, Spanish and English, and also hopes to learn Japanese eventually, since she’ll be staying in Japan in the foreseeable future and currently knows almost none of the language.
