Sienna Sorrel vs Mia Yukari Wilson - Samurai v Mustang!

The time had finally come, a debut match between two fresh faces to AFW: Sienna Sorrel and Mia Yukari Wilson! The lights in the arena dimmed as opening bell rang. The titantron lights up with the image of a rising sun and a dozen faceless warriors, all stylized black silhouettes being quickly cut down as a graphic displays in English: "SAMURAI", as Sienna's music hits:

Emerging from the gorilla position, a short, red-haired girl makes her way to the ramp, donning ceremonial armor, with two prop katanas in their sheathes at her sides. She wields a rather realistic looking naginata, which she displays remarkable proficiency with as she does a brief kata with it on the entrance ramp, flourishing and showing off her impressive skill and dedication to her "Samurai" persona. After a few seconds she turns and hands the naginata to a faceless "retainer" that runs out, the two respectfully bowing to one another as Sienna makes her way down towards the ring.

"Samurai" Sienna Sorrel:

Calmly walking down the ramp, she makes her way to the steel steps and walks onto the apron, stepping through the ropes and into the center of the ring. She unsheathes both of her katana and shows off even more of her routine, executing a series of nimble sword-swinging maneuvers and parries against a phantom opponent, finishing the whole thing by striking a pose, then bowing respectfully towards the crowd. More faceless "retainers" take her weapons and armor as she unstraps down to her proper, armorless ring attire as her music fades in time for her opponent's entrance...

The atmosphere was jolting with excitement as the crowd was on fire. It was a logical thing. Even if the upcoming match wasn’t the main event of the night, it wasn’t every night that the public got to enjoy a double debut. Those were always interesting because two new wrestlers would hit the scene without anyone knowing a bit about them, not even of each other. A Double Debut match was always a box full of surprise, full of oportunity, and no matter what it was a pretty good chance for a budding wrestling talent to shine and get some fans on their side.

Behind the backstage Mia gazed at the arena as the lights went dim and her rival’s entrance theme started. She was resolved to observe each of her oponent’s moves from the very moment she got a step on stage, every little detail being useful to her to judge her character. And there she appeared that imposing samurai, executing impressive katas with a naginata. The woman liked the staging, one could see that as she did more moves now with two katanas at the same time before some retainers helped her out of her samurai armor, revealing Sienna to everyone. Without much time to think Mia stepped into stage as the chorus of her entrance theme started, mixed with the sound of wild horses and motorbikes.

The American-Japanese’s entrance wasn’t half as impressive as her rival was. Maybe she would have to give more attention to staging since her rival got a lot of cheering from the crowd. Mia made her way to the ring and stepped inside before giving a proper round of waving at the public and then signaled her rival in a challenging gesture.

As she retreated to her corner so the final preparations could be done Mia could have a proper look at her oponent. Sienna was a tomboyish redhead with a slim body, but she looked fit as well. It would be wise to take this rival seriously from the very beginning because she looked focus and resolved. Before the bell could ring the brunette stepped in the middle of the ring.

“Heya. Mia Wilson, I go by Mustang. Cool entrance just before. Let’s have a cool fight.”, she said looking at Sienna in the eyes, assessing her rival’s reaction and ready for anything.

"Of course!" she replied emphatically as the bell rang.

She approached her opponent cautiously, eyes open and alert as to what her opponent might do, Sienna had a bit of a size advantage but given this was her very first match against someone in a league like this, she was understandably cautious.

The crowd was excited, given the nature of a double debut, but didn't seem to have picked out a favorite yet among these two unknowns. Sienna likely had a few hardcore indy fans that knew her from her earlier days, before she fully embraced her "Samurai" gimmick. If they were there, she couldn't hear them. She would have to win this crowd over with her performance tonight.

These thoughts and this initial hesitation weighed on her mind as she lurched forward to lock up with Mustang, unaware of her opponent's exact skill set and hoping to simply out-wrestle her early on and maintain control.

Mia nodded at her rival when she replied, woman of few words. The Mustang was good at assessing people and even from details like that she could get information that may prove useful in the future, at least it had been like that for her in the past.

But without further ado the bell rang. The crowd went crazy in excitement at the now beginning match but even if Mia was ready for anything it looked like her samurai rival wanted to take things slowly. Mia circled a little bit around her rival while looking at her directly into her eyes, waiting for some sign that would give a weakness away. The redhead looked somehow appalled and hesitant when she raised her arms to lock up against her. It was true that Mustang had the disadvantage in size and weight, but she was actually quite confident in her strength so Mia welcomed the move and started pushing with all her will, hoping that this outburst of raw force would get Sienna off-guard.

Sienna was surprised by the smaller woman's strength, and found herself quickly at a disadvantage as they locked up. She held firm and tried to stand her ground, but it was clear that in spite of the size advantage, she would be outperformed in raw physical strength. She quickly backed up towards the ropes to force a quick break and reset her position.

As excited as the crowd was, Sienna had grown a bit more nervous once the bell rang. She had psyched herself up for weeks leading up til her debut, but had never once wrestled in front of a crowd of this size... Plus, she had seen some things in other matches before hers, and hadn't realized this place was into all kinds of "entertainment". Did they intend for her to get involved in something like that? She wouldn't sign up for it voluntarily, of course, but if that was the way of things here, she'd probably have to confront it sooner than later.

These thoughts drew her focus away for a split moment as she approached her opponent again without thinking, leaving herself open for something if Mia was paying attention to the subtleties of where her opponent was focused, a mistake that would likely become disadvantageous very quickly.

Mia pushed as hard as she could and after seconds locked with Sienna it became clear that the Japanese-American had the upper hand in terms of raw strength even despite their difference in size. It wasn’t the first time that happened to the Mustang, back when she was training in martial arts as a teenager her sensei was surprised to see that display of strength coming from a girl of her size, so the brunette decided to make that her thing when she became a wrestler.

But even if Sienna wasn’t as strong as Mia she compensated that with resourcefulness. The redhead forced their struggle to go so close to the ropes that she could force a break. Mia immediately broke the hold, she was wild and maybe unpredictable in her manners but she also believed in fairness in combat and sportsmanship if her rival was also willing to show it.

While they were facing each other after their reset Mia noticed something in Sienna’s eyes. There was something worrying her rival, keeping her attention from the match. No matter how worrysome that matter could be Mia thought that letting the mind slip away from a match was a dire thing to do. The brunette used that window to give her rival a call to action.

With a nimble move Mia used her left leg to get a hit on Sienna. That was just a distraction, since the Mustang’s intentions were to get a hold around the redhead’s head to then fall back executing a DDT! If succesfully done she would rapidly get on her feet to tower over her fallen rival.

“Wake up, Sienna! Don’t hesitate because I won’t!” She didn’t try to sound menacing, but encouraging. She didn’t know what was keeping her rival to show her strength, but she wanted a fair fight for her debut.

Sienna hit the mat hard, getting the wakeup call she needed. She gritted her teeth and quickly moved to recover back up to her feet, dazed as she was, making it to a kneeling position in her burst of adrenaline. "Right..." she muttered, hearing the gist of what Mia was saying.

The crowd popped for the DDT, a few "Ooooh" spread throughout as they reacted to the throw, the first of what was likely many to come. Sienna's head, aching as it was, was now in the game, she couldn't let her nervousness cause hesitation again, as the Mustang had proven this could quickly become her undoing. The lights, the noise, the atmosphere... it was all so much different than the small shows she had been a part of before, but she was resolved to show her worth now more than ever!

Returning to her feet, Sienna hid the grimace on her face with a stoic look of determination as she turned towards her opponent and sprung forward, throwing out a wild lariat. It was certainly capable of laying out some of the best, but it was perhaps not the greatest attempt, given that Sienna's world was still spinning from the recent DDT.

Of course Mia was nervous about her debut. Going on stage in front of thousands of judging eyes, being the spotlight of the night was some hard burden to carry, but the Mustang wasn't new to big crowds. She had seen that many people looking at her when she used to be the lead singer of her band, the Mustang had just changed careers.

The brunette was sure Sienna's hesitation was more about being nervous than not being ready. The redhead looked so confident when she made her entrance with all the armor show and all the apparels, but from the very moment the bell rang it was as if her mind drifted somewhere else. Mia didn't want that to happen. Mustang believed in giving her all everytime she set her mind on anything. She wasn't going to hold back because that was a way of showing respect to her rival and to herself. That's why she also wanted Sienna to go at her full force.

When the redhead recovered from the DDT the look on her eyes was different. Now Sienna had some fire in her eyes, a much more resolved look to her as she regained her footing. That's more like it, the brunette thought. That was the moment Sienna attempted a lariat, but the dazed state she had from the previous throw made her strike slow and predictable.

That gave Mustang the window she needed to get a grip on her rival's arm and use Sienna's momentum agains her in a by the book over the shoulder arm drag, sending her rival again to the mats, wanting to keep her streak going for long enough that she could weaken her and eventually win the match.

The Samurai hit the mat and rolled some distance away, shaking her head. The hesitation was gone but now frustration was beginning to set in. She needed to prove herself in front of this crowd, and though the passion had returned, recklessness had begun to rear its ugly head. In the earliest days of her career, Sienna's natural athleticism had carried her throughout her time in the minor leagues, but it was becoming readily apparent she would have to get her head in the game in order to outlast, maybe even beat, someone on a bigger stage like this.

The noise of the crowd continued to drive her forward, a minor pop and the familiar sound of ring rocking could be heard when she'd tumbled across the mat. Comforting sounds, reminding her where she was and what she needed to do as she dashed ever onward towards Ms. Wilson.

Sienna sprinted at her opponent, juking left in order to feint for an instant and grab her arm, aiming to irish whip her across the ring. She'd stand firm and prepare to throw a vicious superkick on the rebound if all went according to plan.

Sienna's attempt of a lariat was slow and easily to counter since something was keeping the Samurai from giving her all. Mustang found easy to use her rival's buildup against her and take her down with an over the shoulder arm drag. The throw wasn't a very effective one in terms of damage but it could help disorienting the redhead and consolidating the brunette's advantage.

When Sienna quickly regained her footing and feinted so Mia would try dodging an attack that never happened, getting the brunette caught by her arm and suffering an Irish Whip the brunette realized that something had changed. If the woman who threw that clumsy lariat looked hesitant and not resolved now it was as if the Mustang had awakened Sienna's fighting spirit. The real challenge was about to begin and Mia needed to regain control of her momentum before things could get worse.

However, the force with wich Sienna launched the brunette against the ropes was just too big. The Mustang was caught off-guard as she rebounded and couldn't stop in time nor block a powerful superkick aimed at her. "G-haaaagh!" With a sound thud Mia went on her back against the mat, her first real taste of Sienna's skillset. But the Mustang still believed that she could have the upper hand in the exchange, she only had to do something unexpected. That was why Mia, instead of getting up, used her down position to strike at the Samurai's legs with a legsweep, trying to take the redhead down.
