Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
First to score either a KO or a 10 second count out will be declared the winner. Asides from this fighters are free to fight how they see fit.
There was nothing quite like just having an all out war. Those kind of matches where both people clearly didn't like or care enough about one another and just had at it. Abi had a feeling this match was going to be one of those matches. She was going to make it one of those matches. Ever since she had laid her hands on Edgar's profile, something about him rubbed the Korean woman the wrong way. Now she just wanted a piece of him. Normally she would invite them to the boxing ring and punch the daylights out of them. But this time. She wanted to beat him on his turf.
That was what tonight was all about. No gloves, no build up. Just all out war. It took her back to those days in the underground before she came over to the AFW, and the thought of that only helped to get her even more excited. Sitting backstage she finished up preparing. Tonight she wore her normal black and grey sports bra and grey shorts that just went over her ass. Instead of her boxing boots she decided to wear some trainers and instead of gloves she elected to instead wear some hand wraps to protect her knuckles.
Everything was now in place and she was ready to go. She was called out and now she was making her way down the ramp towards the ring. The crowd seemed excited, cheerful as always. They knew they were gunna get what they came for. They wanted to see mayhem and carnage. That was all they truly cared about. Once she made the trip to the ring, she climbed the metal stairs and through the ropes, taking a moment to swing her arms and roll her shoulders, getting her arms warmed up for what was about to happen. She had to be at 110%, no messing around.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
Edgar had been sidelines for too long. "Promoting a toxic work environment" had been the reason for his suspension, though the incident that caused it wasn't filled in. It could have been anything really. His physical confrontations backstage, taking a AFW brawl into an arcade against some British douchebag, or maybe Felina had made up some shit to get back at him. It didn't matter, they benched him all the same. Meanwhile, his sister was turning shit to gold. Despite a lackluster win record, she was winning over the hearts and minds of the tension crowd as an up and coming in the brand while he wallowed in her shadow. What a fucking joke.
"Wow. She is an olympian!" Leah squeaked from behind her brand new tablet, eyes glowing from reflected backlighting. He glanced sidelong to his sibling, grumbling at her bubbling over anticipation for HIS match. Why was she so giddy about it anyway?
"So? I kicked the crap out of your bestie and she was too." Edgar got a small chuckle out of that, pulling his laces tight as he tied his boots.
"Felina? That is her cousin who was the olympic girl, Carman. She was also a former 24/7 champion! Carmen I mean." Leah blinked, looking as if she had confused herself for a moment.
"Oh? So I beat the knock off olympian. Whatever." He rolled his eyes, sitting back to work on some wrappings for under his gloves.
"She looks younger than I imagined for her age. Though this might be an old picture."
"Is she an old hag?"
"Um, rude. Also no, she is really cute actually, in these portrait shots anyhow. She looks really intimidating in this action ones." Leah kicked her feet in the chair, giggling to herself as she idly browser pictures.
"Eh?" Edgar quirked a brow, leaning forward to gesture Leah to hand over the tablet. She cradled it close like it was a baby, her brand new toy… he gestured again with a furrowed brow and she conceded, delicately handing it to him. Turning the screen around, he slowly swiped through the gallery Leah had been looking through.
"Huh." He snorted, flicking between a few choice images before Xing out of the gallery. He arched a brow at the page Leah had been looking at. "She is a gold medalist?"
"Yuh-huh. Told you." The blond girl reached out wiggling her fingers with grabby hands for her tablet back. With a short, Edgar handed it over to an elated cheer from his sister.
"Olympian doesn't mean they won anything, just that they were there. Doesn't matter though. Women's boxing doesn't count for shit in a Tension ring." With a soft dismissive huff he returned to wrapping his hands, taking a moment to flex his fingers.
"I think it means she punches good. You should avoid those." Lean nodded as she commented lightheartedly, already engrossed in diving deeper into who Abi was.
"Thanks for the hot tips Sherlock. When you figure out the rest of the mystery, let me know. I have a cute girl to disfigure." Edgar rocked back in his chair then forward, getting to his feet. He spared a glance to Leah who looked like she wanted to say something but was silenced when he caught her eye. Instead, she just gave him a small smile, likely for good luck.
There was no pageantry, no showboating, just Edgar trudging to the ring under a sustained veil of jeers. He hadn't endeared himself to the crowd at all since premiering in AFW. Battering Celina and interfering in his sister's match with Beowulf had made him a radioactive talent when it came to crowd support, no one wanted to touch him. That was fine. He didn't much care so long as he got paid all the same. The only thing that changed was that he had barred Leah from accompanying him. Even though she constantly asked, he didn't want to tarnish her own popularity by being connected with him.
Climbing up the ring steps, he ducked through the ropes and walked the inside of the ring, eyeing Abigail from afar. He hadn't fought in awhile so there was a bit of rust to work off. He rolled his shoulders, cracked his neck and tapped the toe of his boots to the canvas to make sure they were on tight.
"Wow, don't you look serious." Edgar brought a hand to his face, scratching the side of his nose with a thumb. He flashed her a grin, one that may have in different context been charming, but here and now, as he nosed down his nose at Abigail it dripped of condescension. "Hope you didn't have any plans for tonight because I am about to ruin them. But if you want to come back to my place after I knock your ass out, you are more than welcome to lay down for me there too."

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
Abi couldn't help but feel that the crowd was going to be behind her for this match. As her opponent entered the ring the booing and jeering hardly seemed to calm down. Was his reputation that terrible? Still, watching him enter the ring, Abi just kept her eyes on him, scanning his body and making an assessment of him.
Given his build, he wouldn't look like an immediate threat. After all he wasn't like some of the hulking walking muscles masses around here. But that didn't mean for a second that his lithe figure didn't hide its true power. Abi was in a similar boat. Her body wasn't exactly muscular, but the power contained within was enough to win her a gold medal. Listening to his opening remarks and his smirk, Abi could only help but let out a small sneer.
"Well... Better to look serious than look the fool. And really? That is your offer? To go over to yours after this." And first she shit up and took a few steps forward to the centre of the ring. "Though to be fair I suppose that perhaps it might be fun to drag your deadbeat destroyed body back to yours afterwards. Just gotta make sure that those eyes are swollen shut so you won't know what happens."
At that point the ref called the duo together in the centre, going over the normal rules as they did. But this time it more the lack thereof. There we two simple things to note: Anything went and no quarter was to be given. Just the way they liked it. The ref forced them to take a step back, which Abi obeyed. She then raised her fists, getting into her fighting stance, raising her guard.
"Let's see how well you hold up. I have a few tricks up my sleeve." The bell would then ring and usher in the start of the match. Abi wasted no time, striding forward towards Edgar, while keeping her hard raised. She didn't wanna charge in, only to get peppered with a counterpunch. When she was close enough she dropped down and arch her left arm around, throwing her fist forward, aiming a hook into the males midsection. The punch would reveal from the Get go that Abi was indeed a Southpaw.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
"But you look like both, so that must be a bit embarrassing." He gave a soft whistle, playfully tugging at the collar of his top as if he was a school kid in serious trouble with the teacher. "You have a pretty messed up idea of what's fun. You go around picking up roadkill off the street and bring them home with you just to have company? Sad. Pfft, never mind hitting me in the face, just watching that big mouth of yours flapping is making my eyes sore already."
Edgar lazily strode to the center ring when beckoned, giving Abigail a snarky little wink as the official talked. Anything goes huh? He had just assumed this was a standard match so this little stipulation was a welcome surprise. He didn't have to worry about a lot of the hangups that would ordinarily find him disqualified. Good.
He didn't step back immediately when directed, instead leaning in to blow Abigail a kiss. The referee grumbled, putting a hand to his chest to keep him from getting any closer. He backed off before too long, taking a few slow steps in reverse while keeping eyes forward. His hands came up in loosely balled fists, fluid form, with a slight forward lean just begging to be hit.
"You want to tell her she isn't wearing sleeves or should I?" He quipped to the referee out of the side of his mouth, snickering softly to the woman across from him. The sound of the bell didn't seem to cause a great change for him last a bit of movement. When Abi came in with her hook, he didn't think much of it, assuming it to be a feint. Instead, he circled away from it, preparing for the right that would likely follow only to be clipped by an actually punch.
For appearing slightly scrawny when compared to many of his more body build like peers, he was solid, a fact Who's fist could attest to. The blow had caused him to stumble a side step, grunting as it landed. The force took him by surprise, even without making a clean hit he could get the strength behind it. Despite having looked at an information page about Abi, he hadn't bothered to see she was a lefty. Still, it had been a glancing blow, not nearly as impactful as the olympic boxer likely had hoped from encounters with other contenders.
"Tch, what was that? This isn't a tickle fight sweet cheeks." He fired back with a quick jab of his own, sliding backwards along the canvas with quicker footwork than any of his previous movements suggested. Baiting her to follow and have to weather several more jabs on approach. There was no doubt this sort of tactic would work on someone less experienced, he was testing to see how stubborn she was to get to him, especially after trying to get her riled up.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
Edgar was just swimming in confidence wasn't he? He didn't seem to have a care in the world and most certainly wanted to do whatever he could to get right under Abi's skin. She would be lying if she said it wasn't working though. Right now she just wanted to kill the blonde male and be done with it. So much so that he nostrils almost flared as he spoke.
BUT... But, Abi also had a brain. After blocking that incoming jab, and watching Edgar slide back like a ice skater, Abi knew that following him wasn't a smart idea. Defeating Edgar would require her to keep her head level. Not get distracted or let her emotions get the better of her. Back when she was boxing you never spoke during a match. Your fists did the talking. But in this brand new weird world she was in, it seemed the trash talk was actually just as important as your actual fighting skill.
Refusing to buy into Edgar's taunt, Abi kept her position, but decided to loosen her guard letting her one arm trail back down to her waistline. That way she was still prepared, but not always on edge. While Edgar had speed when he wanted it, she couldn't help but feel that he was either deliberately going slow or was he just too lazy to fight. Either way it gave Abi some affordable breathing room. She would be in to circle the male, keeping an eye for an opening that would allow her to rapidly close the gap and avoid getting jabbed to death early on in the match. Despite his amateurish looks, Edgar had locked it down pretty well, giving her nil chance of getting in without him getting off the first shot.
With that in mind, Abi moved in. She kept her right arm stiff and up as a guard, hoping that the incoming jabs would hit the guard, it obscured her view sue, but she didn't need to see too much, she just needs to know when she was close. Letting out a few groans as one of the jabs hit the guard the second went right past and peppered her right in the face, threatening to stop the entire offensive for a second. For a jab, it had some hidden power in it, almost knocking her head back. She was most certainly going to feel it over the next few minutes.
Now she had paid the price for getting close she had to make sue that Edgar did too otherwise he would be on the winning end of this fight. Something she was not willing to concede that early on in the match. Since she had approached Edgar on his right side, Her left fist was in a perfect line to hook directly into the front of his face. And that was exactly what she did. Throwing the hook round towards him... Only to stop inches away. She didn't hide the fact she was throwing the punch, hoping that it would set Edgar on the frontal defensive allowing her true attack of a right punch to sail right past his guard and hit him squarely in the liver. She hated going for liver shots. She always felt bad, they were horrid shots which had even ended one her fights at one point. She had no idea why it hurt so much, but her old coach had always taught her, that if you couldn't go for the face, go for the liver.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
A stiff jab cracked against Abi's raised guard, drifting back as he moved away, setting the obvious but likely unavoidable trap. While he didn't have a height advantage on her, it was clear that he knew how to space himself effectively. While not an out-fighter by nature, he understood the merits of working down an opponent before going in for the kill.
"What's wrong champ? Thought you were coming for me." Edgar circled opposite Abigail, taking quick steps.in before dipping back out, testing to see if she went for any wild swings he could catch her on. She had good discipline though… he could tell she was planning. That wouldn't do. Calm, collected opponents? That meant more work for him. He perverse them emotional and reckless where he could catch them doing stupid things.
"Maybe you should have brought that shiny medal of yours I heard you got, so I could take that home with me too." And here she came. The first jab flew, testing distance, clipping her charging guard. The second, just the same, but a crisper hit. He planted his boots, pivoting to throw his weight into another now that he knew where to aim, slipping past her shallow guard to crack her clean in the face with a snappy punch.
He saw the next one coming, but both shared in the next mistake. He was a slugger, through and through, willing to take a bit to give one back twice as hard. He left himself open, rearing back with narrowing eyes in anticipation to take her blow only to have it stop short. A bluff? His eyes flared, teeth on full display as he grinned wide and came about with a large sweeping haymaker.
"Kuh!" His eyes shot wide as Abigail's fist buried itself into his ribs, lurching him forward. His lunch still came around, though it was wild now, off target as he bent inward with a gasping cough. The crowd roared to life at the sudden change in the air as the blond seemed to be feeling from the blow, wide open. He tilted his head up to glare at Abigail, a twitch in his eye as he seemed to fully understand what she had just done but was unable to verbalize it from the crippling shot of pain wracking his body.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
Abi really could have done without taking that jab right in the face. Even after the fact it had left behind a frustrating and annoying tingle that only served to wind her up. Still, if that was the cost of hitting Edgar where it hurts, then so be it. All in all, it was worth it in the end. Her feint worked... Kind of Edgar had no intention of trying to block it. He truly was a slugger and that kind of attitude legitimately scared Abi. Everyone she had ever faced in the ring was a technical fighter. Even the brutes, even your Carmen's, they still used technical stances, blocks and dodges. But here Edgar was going to willingly take a punch head on to the face, just so he could hit her back. At first she thought perhaps it was arrogance, but Edgar did have the ability to back it up. She would have to be careful.
Either way at the current moment in time, she had managed to score a punch and a half, and even Edgar had realised just what a punch Abi had used. The liver shot had pretty much paralysed the blonde male for a moment leaving him squarely open. But a part of Abi still felt bad for using such a shot. Even if she thought Edgar was a prick and a bastard, using a show like that always felt cheap, even if it was legal. Still, there was little time for dwelling on it. Otherwise Edgar would be back at it again.
The haymaker that was heading her way had now gone off course wildly, but had still managed to graze her shoulder with enough force to sting. Still, if that had hit her in the face, she might not be standing right now.
"What's wrong? Trying to say something?" Abi retorted for the first time in ever. It was the first time she had actually ever spoken in the middle of a live fight. She felt good saying it though. It felt like perfect revenge. The only thing left to think about was how she was going to follow through. Edgar was hunched over and a uppercut was the most obvious attack. Straight into the jaw and hope it sent him flying. But this was a brawl, not a boxing match, so Abi decided to switch it up and instead fire her knee upwards to collide with his jaw. She had been told that knee stores could contain more force than traditional punches, but if that was true she didn't have the training to utilise that correctly. She almost lost her balance with the strike, but she stayed standing tall, this was her moment after all. Nothing was going to take that from her.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
Edgar wheezed up at Abigail, eyes narrowing sharply at her comments. He bet she thought she was cute, turning his own words around on him. He clenched his jaw, grinding his teeth as he focused his malice into a burning glare that almost felt like it could bore a hole through someone's head.
At her mercy now, there wasn't much he could do beyond trying to raise his arms in a markshift defense. It hadn't been nearly enough though as her leg shot up, catching him just under the chin with a sharp knee. His head snapped back with the impact, briefly standing him back up before a few fumbled step backwards found him dropping down to one knee, planting a fist on the canvas to keep himself from falling to the mat. The last thing he needed was to get dropped in the opening exchange of the match

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
For Abi this was about as good a opening this match could have been, just short of scoring a one hit KO. The comment she made as well helped boost her confidence, helping her forget about the fact that she was up against a slugger who had no issue in taking hits to get hits in.
She carefully observed Edgar when he was on his knee. To most people it would be the perfect time to strike and cause more agony. But Abi had a suspicion that if she tried to go in for a attack, Edgar would have an ace in the hole that would force her down onto the mat too. And she most certainly did not want to get into a ground and pound situation.
She would instead take a step back, taking a different approach and instead kept her guard up,. Loosely. Enough to protect her at least. "Come on. Get up. We both know this is only starting." While it might have looked like she was being honourable on reality the decision to let him get up was more of a tactical one. It was better to get Edgar on the counter punch than be the one who attacks first.

Re: Abigail Larsen Vs Edgar Shaw - Brawlhalla
Edgar had indeed been laying in wait for a response to the next attack, his eyes narrowed in hard focus up at Abigail. But did he had a real plan for it? Not really. Her effective one two combo had caught him completely by surprise and left him more vulnerable that he could ever remember being… she wouldn't get that out of him again, he was certain of that. Now she was backing off… showing him mercy? Or was it just her being cautious? Either way, he chose to begrudgingly benefit from the small pull in the fight to recover. Her small verbal jab was annoying, yes, like a gnat flitting about him unable to be caught. He would live.
Standing to his feel he could still feel the echoing pains of the liver bunch. It was like a hole had been blown in his side and the air breezing up against it was making it burn. It would subside, he knew it would in time, this hadn't been the first time he had been hit like this nor would it likely be the last. The blond squared up, notability leading with his other shoulder to keep his aching side further away.
"Maybe you should give up boxing and become a comedian, you're real damn funny." He drew in a deep breath through his nose which made his nostrils flare, taking small steps to the side to circle her again. It was hard to tell just how strong she was, mostly because of where and how she had been hitting him. He had faced a similar issue with Felina's kicks straight up dump trucking him in that match too. He had to take away her weapons… but that required him to get an opening.
Edgar pressed forward, leaning into a tight guard as he peered over the top of his balled fists at Abigail. Two quick shuffled steps them one actual stride, bringing his leg up high before bringing it back down in a stomp trying to crush his boot heel down on the soft toes of her sneakers with an unexpected move that might open her up.
Regardless if it did or not, he would lean his weight in to try and keep her foot pinned, cutting off her ability to move away as he took a quick jab with his left towards her head, for either a lot shot at her face again or bait up her guard. He would follow with a wide right hook, seeking to move around raised arms to catch her in the side of the head.
