Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
Match Type: Standard Match
Victory Conditions: Pinfall, submission, or KO.
Leah had already had her big debut. Edgar had been watching from the back. It had been pretty standard fare as far as he could tell. Some Tension dude fighting his sister. Despite his dislike of mixing men and women in the same ring, his alliance came to blood first so he had to stow his bias. The two had a decent back and forth, even had a moment when he thought Leah was done for early on. It served her right for being careless, but he was still going to jump the dude backstage if she was actually busted up. It never came to that, sadly. He met up with his sister afterwards and he treated her to pizza... only because that's what he felt like eating that night already. He paid for it at least. Now it was his turn. The "big" debut. He hadn't even looked at who he was up against, showing up was enough effort as he was willing to put in. Leah had his back though. Far more invested in his match than he was, obviously.
"Her name is Bethany. I like that name, it sound sorta regal. Bethany... Bethany" Leah idly kicked her feet over the edge of the folding chair she was perched upon, scrolling down her phone. "Oooo, they have a picture here. You wanna see? She has really pretty hair." Leah peered up at her own bangs, pinching the tips of a few locks.
"Her. Great. Stop saying her name or you'll invoke the beast." Edgar flexed his fingers, tugging his gloves on snugly. He opened and closed his hands, tossing out a few punches at the air. "I don't care L. Anything useful to tell me?"
"She hasn't had any other matches yet, so there wasn't much to find. I think the pretty hair thing is useful, by the way. What if she blinds you with it?"
Edgar shook his head, slowly making his way behind Leah to peer down at Bethany's stock photo fro AFW. "It's long. That's helpful, for me anyhow."
"...Don't go pulling on her hair, that's rude, also illegal." She pouted her lips, peering up judgmentally at her twin.
Edgar threw up his hands in mock surrender. "Don't give me that look. I can't be held accountable to stuff that happens in the... heat of battle?" He gave a shrug, already giving up the act. Instead of assuring Leah he wouldn't make use of the woman's hair, he instead just clapped a hand on her head and messed his sisters up instead. He loved his sister, but she had the attention span of a gnat.
"Hey!" She flailed her hands up at him, batting his hand away far to late. The damage was done. She huffed loudly, starting to fix her hair.
"I'm going to go kick this girl's ass. You're buying tonight when I win." He flicked duel finger pistols at Leah as he passed by, strolling down the corridor.
"Ed! Don't you cheat, or I will be so... so cross with you!" She called down the hall receiving only a small dismissive wave from her brother as he turned the corner and faded from view.
Edgar wasn't really one for being much of a showman. As his music hit, he slipped past the dark curtains out onto the stage. He hadn't specified any sort of elaborate lighting to go with his entrance, just that they should flash some lights or something. Gold, red, and white, random spotlights roaming the stage and the ramp making him feel like he was in some bad jailbreak flick. He could always look into setting something up later, or having Leah do it for him. He could hear her complaining about how lame this was already as he just walked down the ramp. He didn't really receive and crowd fanfare past those who seemed to just enjoy his music. The rest of the noise can from the dueling perspectives of people who came to see dudes beat up women, and those who came to see guys get thrashed by ladies. There didn't seem to be much crossover to him in what they wanted from Tension, something that only made him think less of the other competitors here. He was more at home in a boxing ring over a wrestling ring, but this was for L, not him.
He made his way up the stairs at the ring corner, slipping under the top rope. He casually walked the inside of the ring, bouncing a bit on his boots to get a feel for the give. He didn't appeal to the fans or even pay them much mind at all. He filled his time instead pacing the back end of the ring once the lights came up, waiting for the girl with the regal name he was about to toss around the ring for a bit. He was however feeling slightly guilty about intending to use her long hair against her after Leah chastised him. Why'd she have to always be so vocal about stuff like this.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
While Edgar may have a sister with him in AFW, all that Bethany has is just herself. Then again, being the only child, she didn't have much choice in the matter. The only people she could probably bring is either her parents or her trainer. The latter option couldn't come since she is busy with her own career and her parents...lets say they aren't massive fans of wrestling per say.
And unlike Edgar, Bethany did bother in researching her opponent before the match. Though she wouldn't have gotten to make up a strategy before the match. He was new too. Going into battle blind sucks, so now she would have to create one on the fly. Shouldn't be too hard....right?
None of it mattered right now, because she was here. About to debut in AFW and doing what she loves doing. It was surely the greatest feeling for the young newcomer and she wasn't gonna stop until her body gives out. Whoever this Edgar person might be, he better be ready.
Her theme begins to play, the young girl bursting out of the backstage entrance, looking a lot more lively, a direct contrast from Edgar's entrance. No doubt there would be other clashing differences that will be shown soon. Though like him, she's more fighter than show-woman. She just thought she would at least try to do something. Some blue, red and white lights as Bethany comes out, her long blonde locks flowing freely behind her, her midriff shown so the others could see the impressive abs that she has. Bethany didn't get much of a fanfare as well, at best rather mild. But she didn't really care much about that. Fame and fortune....sure, sounds nice. But she was here for one thing now and that was to take this guy down.
Slipping into the ring before she hops up to her feet. Loosening up, her left hand pushed against her right shoulder, rotating the arm in a circle, doing the other before she would tug on the ropes, getting a feel of how much give and take it could do. Bethany would move out of the corner. It was awesome to have finally arrived but there is business to be had. Looking over to Edgar's form. Hmmm...not bad. Looks like a cutie too. "Nice..." He was a tiny bit bigger than her for her debut, but that was fine. Nothing that scared her much. "So you're also the new guy here, huh? Not bad at all." She extended her hand out towards Edgar, of course, her intentions remains true before the start of the match. "Let's have a good match, 'kay?"

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
Edgar had lazily found his way to the ropes for her entry into the arena proper, arms resting along the top rope as he watched. No sparkly J-pop music. No frilly cheerleader outfit. She didn't even ham up her sex appeal for the crowd. She seemed all business, which was a shame because he was about to crash her stock prices.
The no nonsense approach Bethany had in her entrance garnered a bit of respect from him, at least as far as being a competitor was concerned. The long haired girl went against many of the tropes that were the lifeblood of AFW. Beyond that though, he still didn't see her as an equal, even if she looked in damn good shape. She might as well put a bullseye on her abdomen for him with how she was dressed.
Her picture hadn't done her justice, at least he didn't think so. Granted, he hadn't been interested enough to give it more than a cursory glance. The hair was the same, he noted to himself with a snicker. As she moved from her corner, he followed suit to meet her mid ring. He didn't seem in a hurry, taking his sweet time as his thumbs hooked themselves into the lip of his pants pockets. Bethany received a slight upward tilt of the chin in greeting prior to him actually getting close enough to converse.
"Green as grass, don't hurt me lady." His tone was drenched in sarcasm, it was so potent one could almost smell it on the breeze. His eyes drifted down to the offered hand with a quirked brow. So that's how they were going huh? He could play ball, especially with Leah watching in the back. He pat a hand off on her pants before clapping it into Bethany's hand, giving a light shake. He didn't respond to her hopes for a good match beyond tightening his grip a bit, trying to tug her in a bit closer.
"Nice entrance song by the way... Is that what you want, me to actually hit you like a man?" He tilted his head, flashing an innocent smile in direct contrast to how hard he was holding her hand. He had been rather in until this point, coming across as a bit of a layabout. There was a hint of something in his eyes, though it was unclear if that was the spirit of competition or something else.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
This is probably as flashy of an outfit it will get for Bethany. She did know that she needed to look a bit memorable for the crowd. She was against the schoolgirl and cheerleader costume...that would have made her out like a bimbo. And she'd rather focus on fighting good than looking good. Although if her moves look good in the process, it's a win-win.
If Bethany could describe Edgar's attire, it would be... Alternative. The first thing that came to her when she saw him, looking like someone from a rock band. Though she couldn't say much. Especially with the exposed midriff. Wouldn't blame him for some belly punching.. apparently people are into that sort of thing....but her body isn't just for show. Work has been put into it. And she's damn proud of the work she has put into.
Another word she would think of...lazy? Maybe. Doesn't seem to be in any rush, just a tad relaxed. Probably a chill dude. Guess that's nice. Least it's not some loudmouth.
While he did confirm he was new, the heavy sarcasm certainly doesn't sound too convincing. Well he might be new here, maybe to something like this. Fighting? Maybe not. There are a lot of people that came with experience, herself included. Though he did accept the handshake. Phew. At least they could start on good terms.
Or at least she thought they would once his grip tightened around her hand and she is tugged a bit closer to the other newcomer. All of her first initial thoughts of him had changed somewhat. Bethany was not dumb. Those were fighting words. "Why thank you..." Returning the smile and a harder squeeze. If that's how he wanna play it then fine. "...Consider those lyrics as a warning to fight with all you got." Her face leans in just a tad bit closer than before. "For your sake, I hope your flexible. Cause once I get my a hold of you, Your Mine." Using the title of his own theme to make that point clear.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
Edgar was tickled pink by how straightforward and serious this chick was. Every ounce of her seemed to radiate this quiet intensity that was to him, more so adorable than anything else. It was clear she thought she had a chance. She came here to win, not only over him but moving forward in Tension. Leah had a similiar blind hope, he could see the same spark in Bethany's eyes. This was going to be a rude awakening for her when he laid her out on the canvas.
She got in close. Was that suppose to intimidate him? He only seemed to grin wider in amusement as she told him to bring his A game. This girl was something else. She was playing at being tough, unflappable, someone he should be worried about. That was fine. She could be whatever her imagination wanted her to be in the ring. He decided to take the wind out of her sails before the match even started by doing something unexpected.
"Oh yeah?" She hadn't even finished her last threat, something about him being flexible? He wasn't really listening fully. She was already so close, he leaned in the rest of the way to place a kiss on her lips. There was a bit of smolder behind it, Bethany wasn't a bad looking girl after all. He wasn't looking to force himself on her, if she tried to pull away he wouldn't stop her.
He was aware of the likely response. A slap or a punch... That was fine. It was all about mind games. Putting her off her game. Hell, maybe she would even like it, wouldn't that be something? He was prepared though, braces for a sudden impact. Best case scenario she was a romantic sort and he could mess with her the whole match. Worse case she was pissed at him... Which would be fun on it's own. At least this made things interesting for him

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
Bethany would be right that there was something else to Edgar. Before he probably seemed like he was a bit lazy and did not wish to take things seriously. Though, looking at him now, is it that he didn't take her seriously?
Memories of the past wrestling gym he has been in swirled their her head, the head coach....he had the same look as Edgar had when she first met him. Though that was a time when she first started and her enthusiasm was at high, only to take a hit by that coach. Though as they say, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.
He had that look. And she wants to knock it clean off his face.
Though that face soon got in really close and her lips had met his. Wait, what? The heck is that? Sure, he'd not a bad looking guy and, not to sound too vain, she is still a looker. Though that's not the time for that. This was a wrestling ring!
.... Though they do have hentai matches in a ring so that might have defeated the point a bit... anyways, this wasn't a hentai match!
Yeah, that's better.
A bit of a low growl, Bethany's other hand soon pressed at his collar, pushing him away. Should she punch him? Maybe slap him? She is going to get his hands on him later. Come on, Beth. You still got this debut match! Even if he is still easy on the eyes-no, snap out of it!
"Save that stuff for outside of the ring..." She would simply reply. A little wierd but she can't let that distract her. Taking two steps back, realising the bell hasn't rung yet. If only the ref starts this damn thing already! She's got her boot itching to kick his ass.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
It hadn't quite gone as he expected. He had figured there would be an instant recoil, and the inevitable slap. He must have really caught her off guard, stunned into taking it for a moment or two before the rumble of her seething hatred bubbled up from her throat. Her palm dug into his shoulder as she gave him a shove, enough that he slipped away from her seamlessly transitioning his stumble into a lazy lean. Even after they parted she seemed conflicted, seemingly unsure if she should actually retaliate. Edgar was grinning ear to ear just watching her reaction, casually wiping his lips off with his thumb. Maybe he had planted a little something with that kiss. He'd have to explore that a bit more as the match went on. This may have just gotten far more entertaining than he originally expected.
He folded his hands behind his head, taking a few steps back from Bethany as he awaited the bell. "That an offer?" He chuckled softly, wiggling his eyebrows at her. The comfortable distance between them provided him with ample protection form any form of retribution now, before the match began. He didn't wait for a response before bringing his arms down and around, fingers flexing into tight fists. He eased his boots apart, bobbing slightly in place as he leaned inwards, shoulders hunched. His forearms came up protectively as he smirked at her through the small gape between them, giving the girl a small wink.
"Sure you don't want to give me another kiss? You know... for good luck." He puckered his lips, giving the air a playful kiss before pretending to blow it her way. The referee finally called for the bell, a sound that instantly snapped him back to attention. He'd done an awful lot to mess with the girl even before things got rolling so he watched Bethany like a hawk. He expected her to come in guns blazing and he was ready to shuffle step away from a strike or grapple before lunging back in, looking for a good opportunity to use her possible anger against her.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
Honestly, her priorities was wrestling first and any other stuff second. Though she couldn't deny that he did look hot...but she had other things to worry about. Like winning her debut match of all things. Bethany didn't really know what his game is. Either he wanted to kiss her or Edgar was jarring her on. Not to be completely vain but she is a good looking girl, even though she spends her time tussling with people! It is a wonder how her face still looks good to this day.
As Edgar wipes his lips with his thumb, Bethany used the whole of her backhand. Not wanting to allow herself to be flustered, she got her serious face on, but even she can't hide the conflict shown. She just needs to get this match started and get into her groove. Yeah, that would do her just fine.
She would just reply with a growl as she bounced on her heels while she waited for the bell to ring. Her eyes narrowed as Edgar kept teasing her. Screw having her boot kicking him up the ass, it could meet right in the kisser! "Man he's an ass..." She shook her head, before she would smirk some. This is the sort of mind games the blonde should come to expect. Alright girl. Just keep calm. He may be pretty cute, but he's your opponent! Now get that spirit up!
Once she heard the clang of the bell, she would slowly close in the distance. While she would like to give the boys a good thrashing, Bethany wasn't the type to just charge right in. Treat it like a normal match. And just try not to let Edgar get to him like that. That's a good plan. As she edged in closer, her hands up around chest level, Bethany looked to just get in closer towards him. If he steps back and keeps his distance then he might find himself getting closer to the corner or even the ropes. If he comes in, then Bethany would pounce, but it is a matter of closing the gap first. With that in mind, Bethany shoots both hands at head level, seemingly looking to grab his neck, though it was more of a feint to try and catch him off guard if she can. Her actual intention is to go low and get her shoulder right on his abs and the arms would follow with wrapping around him. She was a wrestler after all and it was natural of her to go for this and take him down to the ground.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
At the end of the day, wrestling, AFW, they were nothing but a paycheck. He wasn't part of the league to compete, he had other avenues for that that paid out far better for knocking people out. If it wasn't for his sister Leah, he likely wouldn't be here, but the job presented a unique opportunity for him to keep watch over her, and pummel anyone who gave her a hard time backstage. He hadn't had to break anyone's jaw, yet.
Bethany was just another girl. Didn't matter what her priorities were or what she wanted to get out of the AFW. If she didn't want to loosen up and have fun with this, he wasn't going to humor her all night. Regardless of how pretty her face was, he didn't intend to let her leave looking so pristine if this turned out to not be worth his time.
To her credit when the bell rang she gave him the respect he deserved in taking things slow and careful. While he was looking forward to knocking her down right out the gate just to see the look on her face, that would have to wait. He circled opposite her, letting her be the one to close the distance. "Any hobbies? Singing, dancing, knitting, cooking, comedy? You have the last one down pretty good so far. "
Once she had finally lunged in at him, the subtle feign was lost on him as he just skirted backwards, tilting his body so his side faced her as he quickly back peddled with quick short steps to reposition himself away from the ropes. "More of a hugger than a kisser huh? Maybe later. We have a match, remember. If you aren't going to take this seriously..." He rolled his shoulders into a small shrug, flashing Bethany a wide grin. He was pushing his luck spending more time trying to rile her instead of actually fighting.

Re: Edgar Shaw vs Bethany Kanzuki [Standard Match]
If Edgar wasn’t going to take this seriously then Bethany would give him a reason to do so. Saying that he was starting to get on her nerves was a bit of an understatement, seems that he liked flapping his lips than anything else. Funny how he commented that she seems to have a knack for comedy where he could certainly fit the role of a jester or comedian than anything else. Well once she gets her hands on him, he wouldn’t be making jokes now.
Except she didn’t and missed the mark. Only just.
Skidding along her knees as she quickly turned on the guy that got away. To his credit, he at least knows how to evade. That alone was clear. Edgar wasn’t going to fall for that trick which sadly, Bethany thought he’d fall for it. Either he was smart or that tactic was lost on the man. Her eyes narrowed at him at his taunts. “Oh please.” Tilted her head, her fists clenching. She wasn’t going to give up on the chase just yet, not until she gets her hands and throttle his neck till his face turns red. That perfectly…lovely face…
Dammit Bethany, snap out of it!
Okay, So. Greco-Roman tactics didn’t work. She would have to try another tactic. Pushing up to her feet and dashed towards Edgar, coming in at an angle that would probably force him to get close to the ropes again low at first and then shooting up a bit more higher, just to drive her shoulder at his lower abs and wrap her arms around him. For now her objective is to just grab a hold of him before she would try something else.
