Sonic Boom:

Music that hadn’t played in this arena for two years sounded over the speakers, working the Friction fans into a frenzy as Julia Rogers stepped out onto the stage alongside Alaina Sanders! The masked cowgirl couldn’t contain her joy and excitement, literally jumping up and down while she looked out into the sea of cheering fans. As amazing as it had felt to finally meet back up with her best friend when she returned from her hiatus, very little could have meant more to her than getting to step back into the ring as her tag partner once again!

“Oh HELL yeah! I am so ready for this!” Julia said, giving the Amazon a big slap on the rear before hurrying down the aisle. She high fived every fan along the front row she could on her way to the ring, and once there jumped up onto the apron before ascending the nearest corner to the top rope. There she cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted out to the crowd at the top of her lungs. “LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE, TOKYO!!!!” Her call reignited their loud shouts and calls, and for a moment Julia just basked in it.

It was such a nostalgic feeling, reminding her of the many battles she and Alaina faced together in the past. There had been no shortage of memorable and difficult battles, and it had eventually even led them into a position to challenge for the tag titles. That was something to be proud of on its own, but Julia wasn’t content to leave it like that. A unique debacle had once caused them to hold the Entropy Championship simultaneously. But as a team they had been just one match away from holding a title together the right way. When Julia had suddenly had to leave Japan not long after, she didn’t know if another chance would ever come again. But she was back - no, SONIC BOOM was back, and they intended to finish the journey they started. Better late than never, as they say.

But to do that, they would have to rebuild their standing in the tag division. There were several teams around now Sonic Boom had never encountered before, all of whom no doubt ultimately wanted the same thing they did. Their opponents tonight were no exception. And after Julia hopped down from the corner and took a moment to pose in the middle of the ring with Alaina, she went into their corner and began stretching, eyes staring down the entranceway in eager anticipation of their opponents’ arrival.

“Let’s give ‘em hell, Alaina. Just like old times!”

Alaina had her share of ups and downs since Julia had to go back home a couple years ago. No matter how much of a roll Alaina was on things just didn't seem quite right. Now after coming down the ramp with Julia, high fiving fans and hearing their noise Alaina knew what she was missing. Sonic Boom was more than a tag team for Alaina, more than unfinished business in regards to them just missing out on tag gold. it was somehow bigger than all that to Alaina.

"You have no idea how much I missed all this!" Alaina said to Julia inside the ring with a smile, motioning out to the crowd as she spoke. "The tag division... hell all of Friction won't know what hit them! Lets show everyone how things are done!" Alaina said as she paraded about the ring, striking some poses and showing off for the crowd as she kept trying to keep them hyped up. She eventually did settle in near her corner with Julia. "Ok, so who is gonna kick things off for us?" Alaina asked as she gazed up the ramp, eager to see what this rookie team looked like.

"Do you even understand how lucky we are? This could be our big break!" Ellie guided her arms into her jacket, rolling her shoulders to slip it up onto her shoulders. She tugged at the sides and sleeves, making sure everything sat just right. "We are up against big name women tonight. Champion level women. If we can squeeze out a win here, we'll be on the map for sure."

"Yeah, I know. I read the handout you gave me… Well, skimmed it at least. Borin' read, that." Lyla lounged on the locker room bench behind her tag partner, hands tucked behind her head in a lazy state of rest.

"Lyla! I swear you had better be joking." Ellie let out a tired size as she looked herself over in the mirror, tugging at her leotard to make sure it wasn't bunching up to much.

"...Yup, you got me. Read all… five pages?"

"Twelve." The silver haired woman groan d slowly, turning back to her partner who was giving her a wide shit eating grin. Ellie crossed her arms, pouting heavily at the display. "This is serious, come on. After our last tag match we have a lot to prove. So head in the game, okay? We need to be on the same page."

Lyla sat up with a heavy with. She hated it when Ellie gave her those looks and used her disappointed mother tone. "I get you. Don't worry, I'm ready. These girls are straight shooters right? So you don't have to worry about me. I am all business tonight, promise."

"Good. Let's get out there and show the world they should be paying attention to Bangarang."

Ellie burst through the curtains with arms raised. She was energy embodied in a tight, attractive package that fit right into the ranks of Friction. Lyla followed closely behind, displaying a similar youthful energy that had the crowd bouncing in time with them and the music. They both made their way down the ramp, weaving from side to side to focus attention from both girls on the crowds on either side.

Once they reached the ringside they split up, each going to their own side of the ring. They rolled under the bottom rope in unison, taking to the corners to hop up onto the middle rope and strike a pose. Ellie displayed her tenacity and spirit with a pumping fist in the air. Lyla puffed out her chest and pursed her lips, putting her physique on display. In time with their music, both girls jumped back off the ropes and met up mid ring and threw their forearms together.

As their music died down Ellie turned to smile over at Alaina and Julia, giving both women a respectful nod. She was positively brimming with excitement. "I'm Ellie St. James and this is Lyla." The peppy girl motioned back to her partner who gave the two women a lazy two finger salute. "Yo."

"Together we are..."

The crowd weren’t the only ones into the music. Partially fueled by general excitement for the match, and partly because she just dug the song, Julia was bouncing and dancing in place along with everyone else while the energetic duo made their way down the aisle. In her mind the cowgirl made a mental note to download the song after the match. She had a feeling it was gonna be stuck in her head a while.

Knowing so little about these two coming into tonight’s bout, Julia was happy to see the fan-friendly showmanship the two girls displayed. If it was any indication, it told the masked blonde their foes they could expect a fair, clean match from these two tonight. At the very least, their behavior wasn’t the kind of thing she typically saw from the types of women who often bent or outright broke the rules to get their way. Appearances of course could be deceiving, but Julia was willing to accept this as a good sign.

“If ya don’t mind, I’ll kick things off ‘fer us. But I’ll get ya in soon. I know ‘yer just as eager as I am,” Julia said to Alaina.

When Ellie and Lyla introduced themselves - or more accurately, when Ellie introduced them both, Julia smiled and nodded back to the duo. “Y’all sure know how to make an entrance!” she said, then took a step toward them. “I’m Julia, and this here’s Alaina. Good luck to ya both, and may the best team win.” With that she extended a hand out, wanting to shake both Ellie and Lyla’s hands in a show of sportsmanship before the match started.

Alaina was bouncing along to the music a little herself as the young tag team made their way to the ring. She watched them and then heard Julia's request to start the match which Alaina was on board with. "Ok Julia but don't go too crazy on them, save something for me!" Alaina said as she waved and nodded to the young team across from them. The amazon climbed through the ropes and stood on the apron, clapping and waving her arms as she tried to hype up the crowd, getting them behind Sonic Boom.

Ellie lit up twice as much if it were possible at the compliment, looking almost as if she were about to burst. It seemed almost silly that a simple.acknowledgement could put her so over the moon but she had done her research. She knew just how impressive both Julia and Alaina were, so to have either of them throw praise at her was almost a dream come true.

"So honored to meet you both… to wrestling against you both, oh my goodness…" When the hand was offered, the silver haired girl jumped at the opportunity to shake it, clapping both her hands over Julia's to give an ecstatic shake. There was certainly stars in her eyes. When she had reluctantly let go to step away and give Julia her space, Lyla cocked a brow at the hand still offered out.

"Saved some for me too El? Thaaaaaaanks." The Irish lass slipped, giving her partner a side eyed glance that had the silver haired girl looking away with a faint blush. Lyla gave a quick, curt, shake of the hand. She was on good behavior tonight for Ellie's sake, so no flirting with the pretty ladies in the ring unless someone else initiated with her… then all bets were off.

Lyla backed off, looking to Ellie to make the call on which of them were staying in, which in turn got a confused look from the silver haired rookie. The two awkwardly stared at each other for a long moment before Ellie tried to subtly nod towards the apron to try and preserve the idea they were on the same page. Lyla glanced to the apron with a furrowed brow then back to Ellie. "Yeah but you or…"

"You… I am starting." Ellie leaned to the side, speaking in a soft whisper from the corner of her mouth. "I want you in for Alaina so you can be all dodgey and submissiony." Lyla nodded, silently mouthing a "Ooo" before backing away, gesturing finger guns at Sonic Boom as she went off to her corner.

"Let's have a good match." Ellie chirped with a firm nod, springing back a bit on the balls of her feet. The silver haired rookie lowered her frame, getting into a grappling stance as she stared Julia down, waiting for the bell like the gunshot of a relay race. As soon as she heard it, Ellie would storm forward, arms wide, trying to bring them forward to initiate a simple collar and elbow lockup with Julia.

Wow, this really was a nice surprise. It was relief enough knowing she and Alaina would have their big reunion match against a pair of perfectly respectable young women without needing to worry about some sort of shenanigans involved, but the respect and enthusiasm Ellie demonstrated was on a degree much higher than Julia could have expected.

“We’re lookin’ forward to it too!” she replied to Ellie while the girl gave her hand quite an enthusiastic shake. The cowgirl lightly chuckled, then shook Lyla’s hand as well. She genuinely appreciated Ellie’s words and attitude, and wasn’t about to say or do anything to deliberately embarrass her over it. Everything about the energy of the scene just made Julia feel great. And as much as she wanted to come in here tonight and kick off the Sonic Boom relaunch with a victory, she was equally curious to see what their opponents would bring to the table.

Once Alaina and Lyla went into their respective corners the bell rang to kick this match off! Immediately Julia bolted out to the middle of the ring to meet Ellie, throwing her arms out and locking them with her foe’s! While they struggled against one another the blonde could hear the crowd starting to cheer, responding to Alaina’s efforts to rile them up.

“JU-LI-A! JU-LI-A! JU-LI-A!” their voices echoed out together. Of course there were always fans who liked cheering on the underdogs too, and cheers for Ellie began to blend into the mix. Ever the showman, Julia would stomp a foot on the mat in time with the first and last syllable of the cheers directed toward her, a way of encouraging her fans to get louder to try to overwhelm those of her foe. After doing that a few times, right after one stomp she’d suddenly twist her body, slinging an arm around Ellie’s neck in an attempt to pull her into a tight side headlock.

They were looking forward to wrestling her! Oh God, she could just melt into a puddle right here and now. When people spoke about doing the things dreams were made of, this was probably pretty close. Of course having a title match would likely outrank it but... well, this was pretty darn close! The pressure was on. She had to do her best to impress these women.

A fire lit in her eyes at the sound of the bell, unable to hide the wide smile plastered across her face as both women came charging forward at one another. She could shake the starstruck feeling and when they clamped down on one another locking up it only grew. The physical contact made it real, made her hungry to do better.

She lost the initial charge, being pushed back several inches before pivoting her foot to let her boot catch extra traction with a loud shriek against the mat. Leaning in her frame lowered, arms already straining as she aimed to not only match Julia but surpass her if possible. She found the other woman to be a wall, barely able to gain any ground, but she wasn't giving her any either.

"S-shoot!" That was until she managed to somehow surge forward and gain ground, though for the wrong reason. As Julia slipped away, Ellie stumbled right into her trap, arms locking in around her head as she was left awkwardly bent forward. She took a bracing step, wincing at the tightness of the hold as her hands reached around blindly, patting at Julia until finding her waist.

With an arm hooked behind Julia's back, Ellie tried to trudge forward and bring the veteran with her, wanting to gain some momentum with the both of them. With a palm pressed at the cowgirls back and another jammed up behind her thigh, the rookie shoved at the other woman with as much force as she could muster while simultaneously putting the breaks on her own forward momentum with a hard stomp. She was trying to send Julia to the ropes and yank her head free in a slippery move before she could be controlled too much by the simple hold.

Julia knew how it felt to step in the ring as a rookie with veterans you respected. When she first broke into the wrestling scene she had gone to Mexico, where she trained with and even competed against some of the best luchadors the country had to offer. And not long after her debut in Friction she became a student of the Higurashi Dojo, where she trained daily with the likes of Taylor Parker and Akashi Tanikaze. She’d known what it meant every time she stepped into the ring with those people. And while she wasn’t so arrogant as to put herself on the same pedestal as those legends, Julia understood what was going through Ellie’s mind right now. But she also knew there came a time when that admiration had to be set aside.

The cowgirl was just about to inwardly question of Ellie understood that too, only for the answer to come right away. The girl met her head on in the middle of the ring. And even though Julia had the stronger momentum between them and drove her a few steps back, she could tell her foe wasn’t holding anything back. She couldn’t help but smile, even as Ellie brought them to a sudden stop and apparent stalemate. As far as mind and heart were concerned, everything was right where it needed to be in Julia’s eyes. The only other factor to determine was her skill in the ring.

She caught Ellie in the headlock and squeezed it on tight. No submission would be earned here, but every effort taken to wear her down would matter in the long run. So she held on even as her foe pushed her back, letting go only once Ellie pushed her off toward the ropes. Julia’s legs churned to rapidly accelerate her as she went into the ropes and bounded back, dashing straight at Ellie, lowering her shoulder and attempting to slam it into the girl, seeking to drop her onto her back with a simple shoulder block.

"Nyah!" With a hard shove Ellie sent Julia running… perhaps too hard of a shove. While her intention had been to stop dead and mount a good defensive stance to respond, plans hadn't worked out so well. When her head popped from the other woman's arm, she came stumbling forward, briefly scrambling on all fours in an attempt to keep from falling.

She had managed a quick recovery, getting to her feet just in time for the masked cowgirl to barrel into her. The silver haired girl took the blow dead on, getting shoulder checked with a meaty thud. Unprepared, it took her clean off her feet, sending her flopping backwards to the mat with a hard this that briefly had her legs hanging up in the air before they dropped back to the canvas.

"Hey! Look out!" Lyla called from their corner, casually leaning her weight on a leg which was propped up on the second rope.

"Thanks." Ellie grumbled flatly from the ground, trying to slowly push herself back up.
