So Close, So Far

Tatiana had dreamed about this.

Not this specifically, of course. In fact, if she’d had to come up with a list of places to say those three magic words, ‘ in a hospital bed’ would be right at the bottom, just above ‘public bathroom’ and ‘dentist’s office’. But everything else was pretty much on point. She’d had the words inside for - God, who knew how long. Definitely since she painted Belle’s portrait, and probably a little before that. But she wasn’t sure when would be the best time to get them out, and she’d been kind of afraid. How would Belle react? Would she think they were moving too fast, getting too serious? It was such a deep, heavy thing to put on their relationship.

But, aside from the scenery, this was almost exactly the way she pictured it in her best hopes. The silence. The looks. The tears. The overwhelming feeling of love, radiating from her girlfriend like a hot furnace. It was absolutely worth it, climbing up this building. She wouldn’t scaled a skyscraper for this.

Eager and happy, she returned Belle’s embrace, soaking her shoulder with tears, too. ”We’re a mess.” She pressed hard enough into her girlfriend’s muscular shoulder that she could likely feel the rising smile, even though the gown. ”Let’s be a mess together, forever.”
