[ONE] Round One Match: Melody Serperior vs Makie Akamatsu

As Makie got Melody back up, the green-haired girl couldn't help but be angry at herself. Over her entire time in AFW, she lost a lot of her matches. Outside interference, her opponent working over her leg, most of the time after a single mistake that allowed her opponent to land a finishing blow on her. On a personal level, if she lost this, this would be her most embarassing loss in the company. She foolishly went ahead with her silly strategy, trying to land a lot of big moves in a short amount of time, only for Makie to reverse and managing to stay on top for a huge part of the match.

Makie rammed Melody's head against a turnbuckle in a corner, clearly looking to follow up the move with something much stronger.

This was it. Melody was now dazed and all but helpless in the corner after being rammed face-first into it. Now was her opportunity to end this bout, and she wasn't going to waste it-- especially against an opponent of Melody's caliber. 

Raising an arm to signal to her fans that she was about to do Something Cool(TM), pushed Melody up and tried to lift her up and sit her on the turnbuckle, before clambering up the ropes so that she was standing partially above her foe. Signalling for her fans to start cheering, Makie would try to flip back, kicking her legs around Melody's head to execute a top-of-the rope hurricana on her foe to finish her off!

Makie lifted Melody onto the top rope. With how tired the green-haired girl was, she couldn't mount any offense to try and avoid what Makie had in mind.

Within a second, Makie's legs went around her head as she left her seat at the turnbuckle. The next second, Melody's back hit the mat very harshly as Makie executed Top Rope Hurricanrana!

A normal fan, whether in the arena or watching at home, would likely think that, after what Melody went through in the match, she was unlikely to kick out. She laid spray-eagled on the mat, with her chest slowly rising up and down as her chances of moving forward in the tournament were seemingly dashed...

The move worked better than Makie had expected: after latching her legs aroudn Melody's head, it was a relatively simple task to rotate her body, using her momentum to execute a spin on her way down to the mat. Trapped in Makie's legs, Melody was unable to stop as she was flung head over heels, colliding hard onto her back. The audience was in an uproar by this point, and Makie sprang back to her knees, flashing her fans a V-sign after executing that move. Damn, I should turn that into my finisher, she thought to herself.

Crawling over to Melody, Makie could see that the green-haired girl was barely moving. Knowing that this was probably it, she crawled across Melody and hooked one of her legs for the pinfall. Immediately, the ref girl was starting the countdown. "ONE..."

Melody laid on the canvas, with Makie playing to the massively cheering crowd, before trying to pin the girl for the 3 count, naturally thinking she had the match in the bag:

"TWO!"

"THRE----NO!"

Right before ref's hand hit the mat for the third time, threw her hand up to lift her shoulder, and trying to shove Makie off of her with the other hand, as the crowd exploded in shock over Melody managing to survive the move!

Melody knew that this tournament was her ticket to end her unlucky streak. She was not going to lose it, even if Makie threw everything at her, even as harsh of a move that she experienced just now!

Makie had been so sure, at this point, that she had won this. After executing that hurricanrana on Melody from the top rope, she figured that Melody would finally get the picture and stay down after being hammered by one of Makie's best moves. The green-haired girl had put up a good fight, and Makie had been forced to go all out against her...but in the end, it looked like Makie was the one who was going to advance into the next round of the tournament.

At least, that's what she had thought. Her surprised matched that of the crowd when Melody suddenly kicked out, the movement throwing Makie back up to her knees. "WHAT?" she exclaimed, looking down incredulously at the green haired girl. Out of pure frustration, she slammed a fist into the mat. "What the hell are you made of?" Whether out of resilience or sheer stubbornness, Melody wasn't staying down...and Makie was getting fed up.

Standing up to her feet, Makie grabbed a hold of Melody's hair. "Come on, get up!" she growled, before grabbing her by the arm. Pulling Melody over to the ropes, Makie would press her against the ropes before flinging her across the ring, aiming to nail her with a drop kick to the face as she bounced back! If Melody wasn't going to stay down, then, damn it, it looked like she'd have to knock her out to win this!

Melody smiled as she heard the roar of the crowd and Makie's shocked reaction, letting her know for sure that the match will keep going.

Makie didn't share her opinion on the matter, however, as she roughly pulled on Melody's short green hair to get her up, before launching her towards the ropes. The problem with the forced run was that Melody still felt the strong pain in her spine over the previous hurricanrana, making the run that much more uncomfortable.

As she rebounded from the ropes, Melody would fall victim to Makie's dropkick, falling on her already hurting spine and holding her hurting abdomen as a result of the attack. She might've kicked out of Makie's hurricanrana, but unless she managed to shift momentum in her favor, she was still unlikely to win th match.

Makie almost heard the soft thud of her boots on Melody's chest as her drop kick slammed home. Dropping to her butt, Makie rose again, seeing Melody sprawled on the mat. It was time to end this now.

Leaving Melody sprawled on the matt, Makie turned to crawl up the nearest turnbuckle. Sensing a finale coming, the crowd began to cheer, and Makie, eager to spur them on, clapped her hands at them as she stood on the top turnbuckle. Then, she sprang off the corner, arcing in midair to execute a perfect dive down at her opponent to finish her off for good.

As Melody laid on the mat, she realized that Makie neither tried to pin her, nor tried anything else at the moment. But that was rather terrifying than relieving. She knew that a veteran of Makie's caliber wouldn't let her laying around unless she had something big in mind. Sure enough, as she turned her head, she saw Makie making her way towards the top rope.

Melody turned on her stomach. If everything was executed perfectly, she would not just get back into the match big time, but she might actually win the match!

As she kept looking at Makie from her position, she would wait until her opponent's boots would start to leave the top rope, she would try and leap to her feet. People in the audience would be surprised at how quickly she would do that, considering all the punishment she took in the match. Then, as Makie would start falling towards the mat, Melody would try and grab her head in midair, and drive it towards the mat with an impressive looking variation on her favorite Impaler DDT!

There was a moment of silent trepidation before Makie launched herself off the ropes, her heart beating as she sensed the end of the match was near. With practiced essential she sprang off the ropes, her willowy body revolving in the air as she flipped, coming down at Melody...

...who was suddenly standing up to meet her. Alarmed, Makie only had a split second to react before Melody grabbed her by the head and tilted back in a suplex.

Everything went white as Makie's skull was driven into the mat. Her entire body jolted from the impact, before she flopped lifelessly onto her back. A tremendous roar of disbelief erupted from the crowd as Makie fell. Makie, for her part, showed no signs of life save for her eyes staring up blankly at the ceiling and her boots twitching against the mat.
