[ONE] Round One Match: Melody Serperior vs Makie Akamatsu

Melody breathed heavily as she executed a hurricanrana. This was her chance to get back into the match! She yanked Makie up to her feet by her hair, grabbed her wrist, and launched her towards a corner.

If Makie stood at the corner backfirst, within a split-second, Melody would run at her and jump at a high angle, with her feet posed to hit Makie right in the abdomen with a Dropkick!

Makie was staring up at the lights now as she lay on her back, which was now hurting quite a bit after that hurricanrana. "Fffff...." was all she could say, whatever words had been forming on her lips lost in a haze of pain. Even so, she still managed to move, a little, flopping over onto her front as she tried to will her body back into action.

Her scalp burned as Melody grabbed her by the hair. Gasping, she was pulled to her feet and then roughly swung to the rope. Spinning, Makie managed to catch herself in time against the corner-- her back still took some of the impact, but her elbows took most of it, though it still caused her to wince visibly.

She avoided one heavy blow, but not the other-- a second later a drop kick from Melody cannoned into her midsection. "UUUH!" she grunted, slumping against the corner and breathing hard.

As Melody quickly got back to her feet, she took a quick look at Makie and soaked in crowd's cheering aproval of the match so far. She was extremely glad she got her momentum back, else the match would've likely been over after a few short minutes.

With Makie at her feet, she would have an idea of how to continue her offensive, with a recently learned move by her. Dragging the girl back to her feet by her head, she would put her opponent's head under her arm. It looked like she was going for a DDT, which was true, but it wouldn't be just a boring variation. Melody would jump into the air while keeping ahold of Makie's head, and, as they were near the ropes, would attempt to drive the girl's head into the mat with a Springboard Tornado DDT!

Makie groaned as she lay slumped in the corner, her back and ribs throbbing with pain after being nailed by Melody's hurricanrana. She was too hurt to move at this stage, which meant that, for now, she was unable to stop Melody as the other girl pulled her up, forcing Makie wobbling to her feet.

As she felt Melody clamp an arm over her head, though, alarm bells rang in Makie's head. In her battered state, she tried to ball a fist and slammed it into Melody's side. If it was enough to make the other girl pause, Makie would try to twist around in her grip, hoping to grab the back of Melody's head and drop down to her butt to nail her with a stunner!

If her punch failed to do any damage, though, then she would be unable to stop Melody and would be slammed down hard, and stunned, by the other girl's brutal DDT.

Just before Melody was about to jump for a bounce off of the rope for the DDT, she felt a hard punch against her side, forcing her to stop momentarily as Makie was managing to get out of Melody's grip.

Despite Melody realizing in time what has happened, she couldn't react fast enough as Makie got her hands around Melody's head, and dropped on her rear, bringing Melody's head down harshly onto her shoulder with a stunner!

Melody would drop onto the canvas back first, stunned, as the only visible movement from the girl was her chest going up and down.

Makie's counter managed, somehow, to work in the nick of time, sending both herself and her opponent crashing to the mat at the same time. Lying on her back, Makie took a few deep breaths, feeling a dull throb in her back. It could have been a lot worse, she knew, especially if she had let Melody get her DDT off.

Speaking of Melody, as Makie rolled over onto her front, she saw the other girl lying on her back, breathing hard and in obvious pain. She was tough, resilient, and resourceful, but Makie knew that Melody shouldn't have too much left in the tank at this point. Crawling over to her downed foe, Makie lay across her and hooked her leg, once again going for a pinfall.

"ONE..."

As Melody laid on the mat, she thought it was a mistake to rush in and try and take down Makie as fast as possible, burning out her most powerful moves in the arsenal (such as her failed Springboard DDT), very early on.

And as Makie laid on top of Melody, hooking her leg for a pin, she realized that if she didn't kick out now, her mistake would cost her the entire match!


As ref counted the first count, Melody still laid unmoving, incredibly tired from an ordeal of a match she endured thus far. However:

"TWO!"

"TH---NO!"

Just as ref got her hand up to count to the 3, Melody kicked out, lifting her shoulder up... and then dropping her raised hand and shoulder to the mat, trying to slowly crawl away from Makie to recover from the harsh stunner her opponent delivered earlier. However, Melody knew that that recovery depended on Makie following her to try and deliver more punishment on her. And, sadly, it was unlikely for that not to happen.

Makie's counter worked like a charm, leaving both her opponent reeling and her fans screaming. By this point, exhaustion was beginning to set in-- Melody had been a good opponent so far, one who had forced Makie to really work for a win in this match. But it looked like Melody had taken a lot out of that last hit, and victory seemed to finally be in reach.

That's what Makie thought, at least, until Melody kicked out. Rolling up to her knees, Makie ran her hands through her short, damp hair in frustration. "Dammit, just lie down already!" she cursed as she followed after the other girl. Running past Melody, she would aim to bounce off the ropes and then ran back at Melody as she was crawling, aiming to elegantly somersault down on her opponent with a brutal leg drop!

With how tired and beat up Melody was, there was no way for her to get away from her opponent, nor to avoid any attack she had in mind.

As a result, Makie successfully skipped over Melody to build up a bit of momentum, before rebounding off of the ropes, and successfully landing her leg on top of Melody's stomach, driving the air out of Melody's lungs as a result.

Makie's blow landed beautifully, her leg slamming down across her prone foe to leave her gasping and reeling on the mat. Although Melody had kept surprising Makie again and again, she knew that the other girl ought not to have too much left in the tank at this point. Truth to be told, she was still sore from all those moments when Melody managed to get hits in on her. She would have to finish this match, and quickly.

Taking a deep breath, Makie would return to her feet, grabbing Melody by the head to pull her up as well. Aiming to finish this girl at long last, Makie would drag Melody towards the corner, aiming to ram her head-first into the turnbuckle in preparation for her next move...
