Akiko Takamiya vs Melody Serperior - No Disqualifications match

Melody's current wrestling career was... fairly disappointing for her so far. Being attacked by an insane blonde and then losing her second match through no fault of her own or her opponent because of the same insane blonde sucked, for the lack of the better word. Going into big leagues like AFW was definitely a lot harder than she expected.

It wasn't all bad though. Her best friend finally signed a contract with the company, and she was going to debut extremely soon. Her insider friend told her that there are plans for her for the upcoming Avalanche pay-per-view in Canada. Hell, taking into account who her opponent was tonight, and she could really forget her loss last match entirely.

She thought that, after her loss, the higher ups would just look at it as is, a loss. So Melody didn't expect her next opponent to be anyone of that much importance. Much less a champion. Granted, half (or a third, depending how to look at it) of the tag team champions, but still. She hoped that a win here would make her a bit more noticable by stronger wrestlers in the company, and not just as a B+ player.

As she was getting changed in the locker room, she went through everything she knows about the match again. First of all, it was a No-DQ match. Once Melody got the notice for the match via email, her first instict was to bite her lip. This confirmed once and for all, she really overdid her counter-attack on Tsunade. Granted, she wanted to try her hands at Hardcore Wrestling, but the problem was that she wanted to ask about it herself. Given that the PPV was in 2 weeks, and she was expecting a notice for the match sometime soon, she needed to be careful in this match if she were to get to the PPV in one piece.

Next, her opponent was one of the Friction Tag Team champions, Akiko Takamiya of Black Feathers Gang. She seemed nice from the information her insider got her. In terms of her style, she was a street fighter who is willing to go for cheap shots. In that case, No-DQ was something that also applied to her opponent.

She finally put on her entrance attire and went towards the gorilla position. Melody did her usual entrance routine, while entering with her theme song, Glorious by CFO. While doing the "turning around" part of her entrance, Melody looked at the crowd... and the words of her enemy that she was going to interfere again raced through her mind for a second. She did notify the security about her, so, hopefully, what happened last time will not repeat itself.

As she got towards the ring, she, as usual, gave high-fives to the lucky few in the front seats before entering the ring. Once there, she did a bow to the crowd to round off her entrance.

Then she would simply take off her jacket and shirt, leaving her in an MMA top, racer pants and shoes, and would do a bit of stretching while waiting for her opponent to come out.

Honestly, Akiko was pretty excited tonight. The entire thing with the tag team championship had really caused her singles career to suffer. In a way, her tag team career was kind of suffering as well, really. Both her and Yukiko weren't really used to playing the role of champions, or trying to be the face of a league when all they really wanted to do was fight (and get paid to fund their hobbies), and that status only made trying to schedule matches difficult. So anything she could get, she would have no problem taking, and it just so happened this one was pretty attractive.

Akiko did like the freedom of no-DQ matches, even if it came with the inherent danger of a vengeful opponent. It made it feel like she was back in her gang leader days, only now in front of a crowd and in a bikini. Somehow, she'd avoided any long-standing grudges so far, unlike her partner Yukiko, and part of her actually wanted some kind of rival. Definitely not to the degree Yukiko and Alicia hated each other, though... Her opponent for tonight was a fairly new wrestler, but apparently this one already had a bitter enemy. And some anger issues, evidently. Not like those were exactly rare at the AFW. She didn't have a lot of information to go off of, but that was exciting in a way too.

Dressed in her pink two-piece wrestling outfit, the fiery-haired girl went through a quick stretch routine as she waited in the locker room. Yukiko and Maddie were there too, dressed in their normal clothes, partially for the pre-match moral support, but mostly as back up in case things got too out of hand.

"Don't worry Akiko-senpai! We definitely have your back if she pulls anything shady!" Maddie reaffirmed her determination, clenching her fist tightly in the air.

"Heh... Don't get too antsy and interfere before we're done with the match though!" Akiko smirked in response. "I'm counting on you to keep Yuki-chan in check on that, you know!"

"C-c'mon, you know I'm better than that!" Yukiko pouted, trying not to act embarrassed as she hid a blush.

Their banter was cut short by a sharp knock at the locker room door, signalling it was Akiko's turn to make her entrance. Giving her two teammates a confident smirk and a thumbs up, the fiery-haired girl rushed out the door and off towards the stage. The moment her J-rock theme started up, Akiko stepped out from behind the stage entrance, smiling brightly and waving as the crowd erupted in cheers. Stopping for a moment to pause and strike a few flashy poses, she eventually continued down towards the ring, still waving and acknowledging her fans as she went. Sliding up onto the canvas, the fiery-haired girl strutted over to the center and took one last pose as her music died down.

Once all of the cheering finally subsided, Akiko turned over towards Melody with a grin. Surrounded by all that excitement and energy, she was feeling even more fired up for a match than she ever had been before.

"Let's have a good fight, okay?"

The crowd reacted with extreme cheer as the tag champ entered the ring. If her opponent's grin was anything to go by, Akiko was extremely excited for the match. As was Melody, so she sent a smile as an answer to said grin.

"Wouldn't have it any other way. No hard feelings, ok?"

With that, ref asked the 2 to move to their separate corners, calling for the bell for match to officially begin.

No-DQ match presented a lot of options to start the match, however, Melody simply got closer to the middle of the ring, waiting to see what her opponent wanted to start with.

Melody's reply came with a slight relief for Akiko, confirming her opponent wasn't a complete bitch at least. Not that it changed her outlook on the fight much; she was still going to do whatever she could to win.

The fiery-haired girl stepped back over to her corner, hopping up and down on her feet to keep her blood flowing until the bell finally rang. Immediately assuming her fighting stance, Akiko advanced forwards to the middle of the ring, meeting Melody half-way. She didn't know much about the girl's fighting style, nor exactly how much the girl knew about hers, so for now she decided to go for her usual plan; testing the waters.

Making a small beckoning motion with her hand in challenge, Akiko smirked confidently, "Let's see what you got!"

Akiko, instead of going with any sort of attack, just challanged Melody to come at her.

Melody needed to be careful with how she started, as it is unlikely that the red-head was a champion for nothing.

Melody slowly came at the champ, hoping she wouldn't pull anything from her position while waiting for Melody's attack. She would then try and put her fists a bit forward, but actually going far enough as to punch Akiko. Instead, she hopes that the feint would divert champ's attention from the actual strike, a kick to the side of her body.

Akiko kept her guard up as Melody approached, watching the girl's movements closely. The green-haired girl started to come at her, however with such a weak attack, it seemed likely there was going to be a strong follow up. And her instincts proved to be right on target, as Melody's leg suddenly lashed up.

"Ghh...!" the fiery-haired girl quickly threw her arms down to her side, managing to block the brunt of the blow. The force was still enough to knock her back a step, but she was quick to recover. "Not bad."

Akiko instantly lunged forwards, hoping to close the distance before Melody readied another kick. If she could get close enough, the fiery-haired girl would spring upwards, raising her leg and attempting to slam her knee into her foe's stomach.

Akiko somewhat managed to block Melody's leg at the last possible moment before the impact, so the kick did some damage, but not as much as Melody hoped for.

She would try and follow up on her attack as fast as possible with a left hook to her opponent's face, but the champion managed to raise her leg to knee her in the stomach before the punch connected.

"OOOOFF", her and Akiko running into each other caused the knee to take a lot of wind out of her, as Melody took a step back, holding her stomach with her right hand, open to an attack from the champion.

Successfully pulling off her attack, Akiko landed on her feet and crouched low. Seeing Melody still reeling from the blow, the fiery-haired girl quickly swung her leg around and tried to sweep her opponent's legs out from under her.

"Got 'ya!"

If she managed to knock Melody over, Akiko would quickly attempt to grab her foot and apply a simple leg lock, aiming to start slowly wearing the girl down.

Melody fell down on her back as the redhead kicked her legs from under her.

She tried to stand up, but Akiko immideatly grabbed her leg and applied a leg lock.

Growling from pain, Melody tried to drag herself and the champion towards the nearby bottom rope on her hands, before remembering that this was a No-DQ match, and ref, most likely, won't break the hold.

So instead, Melody would simply kick the champion with her free leg, hoping she will release the hold.

Akiko wrenched down on the hold, trying to get as much pressure as she could get going quickly. Melody started to drag the both of them towards the ropes, before seemingly realizing the situation and quickly changed strategies. The fiery-haired girl grunted as she took a few light kicks, before quickly letting go and rolling away before she could take too much damage.

Stopping a short distance away, she hopped back to her feet and waited for Melody to do the same. The same confident smirk crossed her face, as the thrill of the adrenaline really started to kick in. The green-haired girl was pretty good so far, but Akiko wanted to see how she reacted after taking a bit of damage.
