After her hard match with Riana Helstrom, it took much longer for Chigusa to recover. She was really feeling the strain of multiple matches now, having fought two of them with all her strength. But she was going to continue, she was going to win! She got up off the bench she was resting on, wiping the sweat off her face. She was about to walk out upon the ramp when her manager Thomas Drake stopped her.

"Drink this," Drake said. He handed her a small bottle. Chigusa looked at it warily.

"What is that? It's not steriods or anything is it?" Chigusa asked suspiciously.

"Oh no, it's Five Hour Energy," Drake said, "First off, it's a corporate sponsor for this event, and secondly, you're beat. You need some energy." Drake pushed it into Chigusa's hands, "Quickly now, people are expecting you."

Chigusa took a look at the bottle, shrugged, and downed the bottle in one gulp. It tasted awful, but Chigusa felt a warmth in her belly when she drank it. She felt a little bit more at ease, and felt her head clear. Drake patted Chigusa on the arm. Chigusa nodded, and walked out onto the ramp. She walked quickly into the ring, getting into her corner and bouncing a little to warm herself up. She felt energy in her body again, and felt that she could take on her new opponent.

Athena's music began to play as she stepped in front of the curtains, but waited a few minutes before walking through them. "I may have blown my chance of getting into the finals of the tournament, but this Contendership match is just as important, I have to try my best." She said to herself slapping her cheeks and walked out to the ring.

Athena gave the crowd her trademark smile as she waved to her fans, reaching the ring she slide under the ropes and finished her waves to the crowd, Then she looked at her opponent.

"Oh Wow The schoolgirl Idol Chigusa Yuuk?!!" Athena said with a burst. "I have followed your matches here and I have to say I am very impressed with how far you have come here in the AFW." She added holding her hand out.

"Let's have a great match Chigusa." She said with a warm smile.

When she heard Athena's praise, Chigusa smiled. "Arigatou Athena-san," Chigusa said, "Let's have a good match."

Chigusa knew a little bit of who Athena was; she knew that Athena wasn't at all inexperienced or weak, and that she had been fighting in combat sports for quite a while. She was not an opponent to take lightly. Coupled with the fact that Athena seemed fresher than Chigusa, it seemed that Chigusa was almost at a disadvantage. But she was not going to let that show. Chigusa was going to use everything she had, just like in her previous two matches. When the bell rang, Chigusa dashed forward at her usual stunning speed, leaping into the air to try and deliver a dropkick. It was her standard opening move, and an effective one at that.

After the introductions were made Athena went back to her corner and as always her smile vanished once the bell rang. Athena came out of her corner a bit before Chigusa ran her taking her by surprise with a dropkick to her chest that forced her backwards.

Athena went down onto her back then rolled backwards and jumped back on her feet. "Well, Chigusa I can't wait for this match to be serious, that was an interesting way to start things." Athena said. "Now its my turn." She added

She began shuffling around Chigusa then would try and go for a waist lock for an attempt to suplex Chigusa down to the mat.

Chigusa felt the dropkick connect solidly, smiling to herself. She had the first hit! Even though it wasn't powerful; despite the energy drink Chigusa still couldn't fight at her full power, it still took Athena down to the mat. She was up quickly though, surprising Chigusa a little. "You're up quickly," Chigusa said. She maintained her defensive stance, following Athena's movements.

She wasn't quite prepared for Athena to come in with a waist lock. Chigusa narrowed her eyes. She couldn't overpower Athena, not in her weakened state, but wasn't going down without a fight. Chigusa would bring her arms up and strike down at Athena with an axe-handle strike, hoping to make her let go.

Attempting to back suplex Chigusa, Athena was struck by the double axe handle attack, but instead of trying to continue with the original attack, Athena quickly let go of the waist lock and spun around then threw a kick at Chigusa's Thigh and if connected Athena would follow up the kick with a hard clothesline.

Chigusa managed to prevent the damaging suplex, but she wasn't let off easily. Athena's kick struck home, knocking Chigusa to one knee, making her cry out in pain. Another bruise was going to form. Then the clothesline hit Chigusa right in the upper chest, knocking her flat on her back, coughing and sputtering.

"Owww," Chigusa moaned, "That hurt... but I'm not done yet!" With that, Chigusa would leap to her feet and face Athena, prepared to receive her next battery of assaults and hopefully counter them.

Athena gave an evil looking smile when Chigusa stood back up. "You got guts Chigusa, this match is gonna be fun." She said before grabbing the back of Chigusa's head and would try to throw a elbow shot to her cheek.

Chigusa tried to avoid the elbow strike, but Athena held her in place by grabbing the hair on the back of her head. Chigusa took the blow to the cheek, crying out in pain, falling back a few steps but not falling down. Chigusa gritted her teeth from the pain; that was going to leave a bruise too. She was still standing though. Chigusa launched her counterattack, ducking down low and going for a sweep kick. If Athena avoids this, she would try to grab Athena around the waist right when she lands, and try to hit her with a back drop.

After the elbow struck Chigusa's cheek Athena would try and follow up with another elbow strike, but Chigusa's sudden drop down took her by surprise. Athena felt her legs get swept out from under her by Chigusa's sweep kick.
"Not good." Athena said to herself as she fell back, but would try to recover with a backflip.
