Contendership Match Kayla Kirisa vs. Akashi Tanikaze

This time when the dulcimer tones of the Sanishen echoed through the arena the busty Sumo did walk out. She had a halfhearted smile on her face and she walked slowly to the ring. She had a a bandaged wrapped around her head. She had taken all the time she could to rest and despite the doctors protest she demanded that she continue. Even when she was told that she had been officially counted in the previous match and that bowing out of the competition would not make her loose any face she stubbornly prrotested. She knew as long as she was able to rest she could at least try in this new round.

"The outcome doesn't matter it's how hard you try. Even in this state I can still compete."

She said to herself as she performed the sumo ritual. She then looked at the fans and bowed deeply to them. Many cheered her simply for making it out to the ring. She then inhaled deeply and awaited her opponent.

Kayla wasn't long in coming down to the ring, smiling and waving to the crowd. But even as she did so, it was easy enough for some people to tell she had an air of uncertainty to her. She was always quite nervous about her matches. When she finally slid into the ring, she'd notice that her opponent had bandages around her head. She opened her mouth to say something, but must have decided against it. Instead, she'd just smile, holding her hand out to her opponent. "Lets...have a good match."

Akashi heaved a sigh as she looked over her opponent. she was glad to be able to have a match with a friendly opponent. she reached out her hand and gave Kaylas a firm shake. "Hai!" she said with a firm nod of her head. she then backed away and waited for the bell to ring. She didn't take her usual stance but held out her hands in anticipation. Because of her injuries she knew she would have to be cautious.

Not long after she returned to her corner, the bell would ring. Kayla was quite unsure on how to continue, a bit worried that her opponent seemed to have an injury. And so, she'd move forward, holding her hands out for a test of strength. And strength certainly wasn't a strong point for her.

Akashi watched as the bell rang and sighed inwardly when Kayla offered up the test of strength. A smile suddenly appeared on her lips as she cautiously approached and raised her hands. Why do you have to be so stubborn though. She might be willing to in easy on you. She thought as she locked up. "Ignore the fashion accessory." She whispered. "This is for a chance at the belt, I want the toughest competition this league has to offer." She then stepped forward and attempted to shove her chest into Kayla's to throw her off balance.

Kayla knew how Akashi felt. She would likely do the exact same thing. This wasn't a competition for the weak. And it made her realize she couldn't be soft on anyone. When Akashi suddenly pressed forward, Kayla would roll backwards. She was pulling on her opponents hands, aiming to draw her off balance instead, while bringing her feet up to flip Akashi overhead. If she managed this, Kayla would roll backwards and on top of her opponent, intending to pin her to the ground. If the move failed... well she'd land herself on the mat, and her opponent would still be standing. A bad position to start the match in.

"Shit." Akashi muttered as she saw Kayla roll backwards. She knew what was coming but fortunately for her, as a sumo by trade, maintaining her balance during awkward movements was her stock in trade. She was able to twist herself out of the way of Kayla's feet. Unfortunately, no matter how much of an expert she was, she could not defeat momentum and was flung passed Kayla on her hands and knees. With a smile on her face she turned her head to look back at Kayla as she began to stand up slowly. "Well don't we both look foolish. Let's try something else." She launched herself at Kayla hoping to catch her hike she was getting up (if she was getting up) and knock her back down again.

Kayla was at least glad that she hadn't ended up in a bad position. Sure they looked foolish. But it didn't bother her too much. She'd grin a bit before she'd suddenly cry out as she was getting up, feeling her opponent crash into her and send her falling back to the mat. But she'd try to roll with it, coming up to her knees in the corner behind her.

Akashi growled to herself when all she managed to do was get Kayla further away and on her knees. She certainly was good at maneuvering. Akashi stood up and advanced slowly. She kept one hand up for defense expecting Kayla to try and tumble passed her or something. When she was close enough she launched a hard open handed sumo at her face to try and daze her.

Kayla would climb to her feet, keeping an eye on her opponent. She definately couldn't go easy on her and expect to win. Watching Akashi advance, she'd duck low and rush in close, managing to slip under her opponents attack. She would aim to tackle Akashi by the midsection, while her hands reached to grab the back of her knees and yank her off her feet.
