When you stacked Lorenza and Yvette against one another in terms of stats and skills, Lorenza would always come out ontop. That was why Yvette was eager now to push hard. She knew very well that this was not going to go to the tenth round, and would rather go out with a bang rather than try and hold on for the full ten. That was why when the bell rang, Yvette smashed forward into Lorenza. She knew very well that her punches were going to futile, but she managed to land a few decent punches to the former champions swollen face. She could feel herself slowing down and knew that retreating was going to be the smarter option, she didn't want to give Lorenza a excuse to land a few good counter punches.

Falling back and raising her guard was the smartest move that she could think of while her arms recovered from the constant swinging. Lorenza however came at her fast, giving her the same as she got, throwing punch after punch at her guard. Her marked and bruised forearms taking punch after punch. Yvette took damage too however, as the odd punch managed to slip through and hit her cheek. To be fair to Yvette, only two of Lorenzas punches broke through to hit. But these two punches were enough to cause alot of damage. The first punch that sailed through smashed into her clean cheek, though it wasn't clean for long. Just like in the round beforehand, a small cut had appeared as the already stretched and swollen skin broke apart. Small speckles of blood jumping off her face form the impact. The second punch hit her already cut up cheek, causing the cut to open slightly more, more blood jumping backwards from her face.

Hurting badly, Yvette would stagger backwards, trying to protect her face as she hunched down, using her guard to try and protect her entire body as best as she could. She needed to try and avoid letting Lorenza score any more hits this round. Especially to the face.

Yvette fell back, and Lorenza jumped forward to capitalize on her opponent's retreat. Lorenza knew that throwing these quick jabs almost right at Yvette's guard was not going to finish the fight, but it kept Yvette in a defensive position, and it would wear down her will to fight, as each and every punch hit her arms and caused them to sting following their hard collision with leather. More than that, every now and then Lorenza would aim a punch a little tighter in or further out, and twice, Lorenza managed to land those jabs to Yvette's cheeks.

Both times, too, she struck blood. The liquid smeared across her gloves and a couple droplets even hit the ground underneath the two battling women.

Yvette did not respond with a counter, but would walk backwards again, hunching down to fully protect her face behind her gloves. That would probably work, but Lorenza had other targets she could aim at. With Yvette's decreased vision, she would not be able to see some of Lorenza's wider punches as well, or so the Mexican boxer believed. To test that theory, she would shoot a quick left jab right at Yvette's guard, following it up with a right hook aimed a bit lower, looking to hit Yvette in her flank!

Yvette was bleeding twice now. That was two cuts now, and Yvette was more than aware that things were going from bad to worse for her. If Lorenza was able to make a few more cuts, she knew the fight would be over, and Yvette was refusing to give Lorenza the easy victory that she wanted. Falling backwards she hoped to escape the onslaught, allow her face time recover. The tightened guard was supposed to allow Yvette time to recover. But Lorenza in typical fashion refused to let her recover, homing in again and throwing more punches.

Thankfully her new tightened guard absorbed the left jab, leaving a mark but keeping her precious face as safe as possible. Yvette was alright though, she could take those punches for a while, until the fire in her cheek subsided at least. However Lorenza decided to expose a weakspot in her little defensive plan. A punch arced across and smashed into her side, her ribs getting caught as she could feel the bone aching, that was going to leave a bruise. At this point Yvette had two choices: She could either fall back again and try to get Lorenza to stop going around the sides, or just suck it up and tighten her guard while taking more of those punches. If she did fall back, it would take her closer to the corner again, and after learning in the past few rounds, she didn't want to get back into the corner. So to that affect, Yvette dug her feet into the canvas and tightened her body as close as she could. It wouldn't help her sides that much, but right now she just wanted to weather the storm until she could find the perfect opening.

After Yvette's early round onslaught, it seemed that the blonde woman had worn herself out, or at least needed some time to recharge her batteries, because she was just standing there and taking the abuse that Lorenza had to give her. Unfortunately, Lorenza could not do that much damage while Yvette was turtled up like that, protecting her whole face, most of her chest, and even making it difficult to aim for the uppermost areas of her sides. Still, as Yvette remained in place, digging her boots into the canvas defiantly and ducking deeper into her guard, Lorenza would keep up a rhythm. She was not able to make it a relentless, unceasing onslaught—she would simply exhaust herself that way—but she would try to time her punches to test Yvette, to make sure that, if the girl was going to hide, she would have to hide pretty well to escape her punishment.

Lorenza would throw a jab to Yvette's guard, then pause, then throw another, this one with the opposite glove. Occasionally, she would try for a combination, aiming a couple of jabs in a row at that guard, then trying to swing one glove around to whack Yvette in her ribs, or maybe even upside her head. Lorenza was not getting the sense that she was doing very much damage, but she would keep on throwing punches, one every couple of seconds, at least, to make sure to keep Yvette scared.

It was common knowledge that Yvette was always going to struggle once she ran out of steam. Yvettte simply didn't have the level of endurance that Lorenza had built up over the many more years of boxing she had done. Lorenza had made sure that she drew more blood, another sure sign of things to come. But as Yvette tightened her guard, trying to avoid even more damage than she was currently getting, Lorenza changed her punching strategy. She slowed down herself, avoiding running out of her steam herself. The good news was that most of Lorenza's punches were now useless, the odd one hit the side of her head and almost forcing Yvette to drop her guard.

This was going to be the perfect time for Yvette to counter attack, however Lorenza's punches were making it difficult. She was throwing just enough of them that it was hard for Yvette to find a counter attack angle without exposing herself to more punches. But in the end, Yvette decided to throw caution to the wind, Springing into action and throwing her counter attack. Dropping the guard she snapped her left arm upwards, taking advantage of her southpaw nature and tried to throw her fist upwards high enough to uppercut Lorenza in the chin and try to shift the momentum in her direction.

Lorenza knew that she could not blow a tire herself and lose her ability to go on the offensive right now, because Yvette was giving her a war and she could not afford to handicap herself like that. Her punches slowed down, but she made sure to throw one every few seconds to keep Yvette from following her too closely, and every now and then the odd punch managed to slip past those raised gloves and smack into one of Yvette's two bloody cheeks. Lorenza could tell that the blonde was trying to work up the courage to counterattack, but too bad for her the constant, if slow, rain of punches from Lorenza made such an effort very difficult indeed.

Yvette would get off a counterpunch, though, and she timed it right as Lorenza's fist had hit her guard but before it came back into place in front of her face. As Yvette threw herself forward and stretched out her left arm, nearly stepping on Lorenza's front right foot in the process, the Mexican woman would backpedal, trying to keep some space between them. Maybe it did lessen the blow that she took, the uppercut which snapped her whole head upwards and caused her to stumble, just a little bit. If it had been lessened, Lorenza couldn't really tell. Quickly, she pulled her gloves together in front of her, trying to take a big step back to force Yvette to cover more distance with her punches.

Swinging the momentous back in her favour, Yvette knew that she couldn't waste her time. If Yvette couldn't pave a way through Lorenza, Lorenza would start fighting back and Yvette would be on the canvas in no time. The uppercut did it's job, pushing and forcing Lorenza back a few steps but it wasn't enough to do any significant damage. With Lorenza retreating, Yvette would follow suit, keeping up with Lorenza as she threw a left hook at the former champion, only for it to collide with her guard. Yvette growled. Lorenza was already guarding up which was going to make it harder for Yvette to make any path forward.

Yvette tried to pave forward, but Lorenza still had her guard up, the three jabs she fired afterwards still met her guard, upping her frustration even more. Yvette couldn't crack her guard and it was vexing her. So instead she decided to instead frustrate Lorenza back. Getting as close as she could, Yvette flung herself forward, wrapping her arms around Lorenza to get her in a clinch, giving Yvette more time to replensih lost energy as Lorenza would struggle for a few seconds. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make Yvette feel slightly better, considering both her cheeks were swollen and bleeding.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing - Page 8 Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

This fifth round had already gone on for quite a while, with Yvette coming out fast, then shrinking back into her shell as Lorenza took command for quite a while, keeping the blonde very effectively bottled up with a slow but steady rhythm of punch after punch, punctuated by the occasional flurry which prevented Yvette from countering effectively. Lorenza had even opened up another cut on Yvette's face, which would score her big points and give her the win for the round already so long as she did not do anything stupid—and so long as Yvette was not still more dangerous than she seemed.

The blonde seemed destined to find new ways to surprise Lorenza every round, though. She was dangerous, obviously. Lorenza knew that. But Yvette had been faltering a moment ago, and now she had just executed a very risky move which turned into a very successful one, snapping Lorenza's head back and forcing her to retreat. Lorenza was ready with her guard to defend herself from another barrage of blows, but instead of attacking in that way, Yvette would lunge forward and wrap her arms around Lorenza for a clinch!

"Errgh..." Lorenza would groan, as she would slap at Yvette's shoulders with both gloves, trying to push the girl away even before the referee swooped in. Sure, a few seconds of rest was nice, but Lorenza knew that Yvette was probably getting more benefit from it than she was!

It did not take long for the referee to get involved. She swooped in and very quickly broke the pair up, giving Yvette only a few seconds of precious rest. But that was ok. That was all Yvette needed. Se knew with the cuts littering her face that Lorenza had yet again stolen the round from her. It seemed like at this rate, Yvette was hardly going to win any of the rounds. Infact, she wasn't sure she had won a single round yet. And that was bad enough. The ref could see that the round was coming to a close, it was ticking down fast, less than a minute for sure, more than likely less that thirty seconds, but nevertheless, the ref started the fight again, letting the two women go at it.

Yvette would charge again, this time throwing her left fist forward as soon as she got close enough to do so. She was going to try and get a punch in before Lorenza could solidify her guard and let the seconds tick away. The left hook she had thrown was aiming for the females face, the cheek to be exact. It was partly in anger and frustration, but also for revenge over the fact that Lorenz had been hitting her face enough to draw blood, while Lorenza had gotten away with a few light bruises. If she scored the hit - by some sort of divine miracle, then Yvette would follow up with a right uppercut to the chin, to try and end this round on a high note.

Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing - Page 8 Empty Re: Lorenza Saldano Vs Yvette King - Standard Boxing

There was just enough time left in this round for the two to go at it again. That was good. Lorenza did not want to let Yvette have a doubly-long break, giving her a chance to collect her thoughts and focus on what she was doing right. Because there was plenty that she was doing right. If she focused on those aspects of her game and got a little bit lucky, she might really make Lorenza work for this victory.

Yvette came streaking in at her, and Lorenza would throw a quick left jab to try to force her opponent to keep her distance. But the spunky blonde, suddenly driving herself forward with a reserve of energy that Lorenza hadn't realized she had, avoided the punch, and swung her left fist around fast enough to connect with Lorenza's cheek. The Mexican pugilist groaned and backpedaled as Yvette came after her again, swinging her fist up and connecting with Lorenza's chin, snapping the former champion's head upward, and forcing her to stumble for a step before she recovered her balance.

Yvette was obviously giving this all she had. Lorenza growled and pounded her gloves, readying herself to go after Yvette again. Slowly, in the corner of her mouth, a trickle of blood showed, a droplet running out along the edge of her chin.

Then, to Lorenza's frustration, the bell would ring.
