Backstory:
Annemarije was an only child characterized by her diminutive size. She was never particularly strong or physically impressive, but what she lacked in size and muscle Annemarije made up in intelligence and strategy. Without her parents’ knowledge, Annemarije began utilizing her intellect to participate in Belgium’s small -- albeit brutal -- bare-knuckle boxing and catch wrestling scene. Her first fights were, as one expected, losses. However, in those defeats Annemarije learned her opponents’ weaknesses and soon adapted her fighting strategy to capitalize on their deficiencies. The fights following her initiation saw Annemarije become a popular fighter in the Belgian undergound.

After four years of fighting -- from ages sixteen to twenty -- and graduating from the University of Antwerp, Annemarije discovered AFW. Annemarije set out for Japan, with her parents blessing, soon after her graduation using the money she had earned from her time in the underground fighting ring. Annemarije fighting style has been characterized by her high-endurance and defensive capabilities, a facet that made her unique among her peers back in Antwerp.
