The Arrival: Abattoir vs. Lucky Uchida

This was not going great. She had to get control over the pace - something that had been ephemeral, at best, since the match had started - and that wasn't going to happen if she couldn't get out of this hold. Abattoir was flexible but she wasn't that flexible, and a shock of cold pain shot from her hamstring all the way down to her shoulder as Lucky wrenched on the half crab, causing her to wince.

Well, here was the trial by fire. Reaching back, Abattoir grabbed Lucky's ankle and gave it an experimental tug, seeing if she could off-balance the grappler. No dice. There was no way to throw a worthwhile elbow from here...ah. The ropes. You couldn't keep a hold on somebody if they got there. Right.

Abattoir took a deep breath, trying to power past the growing strain in her back, and clawed her way forward hand-over-hand. Thankfully, they weren't quite in the center of the ring, so she didn't have quite as far to go as she could have. All that remained was to reach...

Lucky began to slowly shuffle backwards as she felt Abattoir start to crawl forward towards the ropes. The bad thing about a half crab wasit was easier to escape from in terms of reaching the ropes. Abattoir har three-quarters of her body to use to try and wriggle to the ropes.

Lucky was perfectly fine with that as her icy gaze remained fixed on some point in space while she arched her back and leaned into the hold, letting Abattoir crawl as she wished. She wasn't really trying to end it here. if Abattoir was going to tap, then she deserved to lose in the fashion she had. She was planning ahead, trying to cut down the masked girl's speed a bit. There was usefulness in a hold that was broken, Lucky knew that much.

When Abattoir finally reached the ropes, Lucky held onto the leg for as long as she could until the referee threatened to disqualify her before she finally stood up, spun around and waited once more for Abattoir to rise.

Attrition was a harsh mistress. Although she'd escaped the crab, the damage had been done - plus Abattoir had expended quite a bit of energy getting to the ropes. It seemed like an eternity before Lucky finally released her, backing up and giving her some space. For a second, the masked girl nearly charged in again, but the first step she took sent a painful twinge through her waist and back, and she wisely aborted the strategy.

This gave her a second to re-evaluate the situation. Rampaging in and trying to decapitate Lucky with a single powerful strike had only resulted in the momentum going entirely in the other girl's way. Her arsenal was simply too diverse for Abattoir to brute-force a win. Finesse would be necessary here.

Abattoir broke off from her apparent charge and stepped back, raising her fists. The dead-eyed stare returned. Instead of playing right into her opponent's hands, she'd let Lucky come to her this time.

Lucky was eager to get back into the swing of things against Abattoir as she watched her stand back up. If the girl was just going to come at her the whole time, then Lucky would be on the road to a pretty easy victory and she bounced on her heels as she waited only to watch the masked girl take a much different, and far more cautious stance.

Lucky's own face remained cool and unflinching as she began to circle Abattoir. She doubted the girl would accept another lock up. She decided to try and go low and really test Abattori's speed to see how well the crab had done.

Lucky flinched high when the moment was right and then bent her knees, shooting downward to try and grab hold of one of Abattori's legs.

Abattoir had waited for the attack, and eventually her patience was rewarded: Lucky stepped forward and feinted high. True to form, the nak muay took a quick step back, keeping her hands up - but it had just been a feint, and Lucky shot in for the leg that'd been worked over.

Ironically, it was the step back - an unorthodox reaction to an incoming strike - that helped her defend the takedown. Lucky had to shoot just a little further than normal, and Abattoir's good reaction time, combined with having to lean more heavily on one leg, meant her 'sprawl' was really more of just dropping all her weight on Lucky as she came in. They struggled in place for a second, and then she managed to get a solid grip around the back of the other girl's neck. Shoving roughly to one side, Abattoir attempted to swing their combined momentum around, and threw a big knee strike at Lucky's forehead.

It was the position where she did her best work, but with her leg damaged by the submission and Lucky's grappling skills, it was a precarious advantage at best.

Lucky had gotten hold of Abattoir's leg but she knew she had over extended a bit. In a flash, there was a knee crashing against her head and Lucky was dazed. Her already tenuous grip loosened and one of Lucky's hands slipped of of Abattoir's leg to press into the canvas to try and stabilize herself.

She definitely didn't like the thought of being kneed into unconsciousness by the masked girl so she decided to forgo any more grappling attempts in favor of trying to regroup and avoid anymore painful,head rattling knees.

The familiar thwap of skull against knee brought a grim smile to Abattoir's face, but the next instant, her leg buckled - she'd been leaning on it too much after Lucky had worked it over, and at least for the moment, it wouldn't do her much good.  She dropped to one knee as Lucky caught herself with a hand, trying to keep ahold of her, but mostly just succeeded in hanging onto an arm.

Well, when all you have is a hammer...

Gripping the arm around the wrist, Abattoir quickly stepped over Lucky's back, wrenching her arm up into a crouched armbar and attacking the shoulder joint.  She didn't know nearly enough about pro wrestling to roll her eyes back and thus (somehow) make the move more effective, but a few amateur mistakes could be expected here and there.

"Gaaaah!"

Lucky yelped when Abattoir put her in the standing armbar. It wasn't a bad move and Lucky's fingers dug into the canvas as she tried to figure a way out of it. She bit her lip and looked at Abattoir's leg. She turned her body to try and disrupt Abattori's position and lessen the strain on her shoulder. She then stretched out her hand and tried to clamp down on Abattori's boot. It would be difficult, but she pulled as hard as she could, trying to tug the masked girl's leg and pull it towards her. Hopefully it would throw her off balance but even if it didn't, her mind was still working, even as she began to grunt from the exertion and the pain, sweat dripping off her short, blue hair.

Takedown defense was one thing, but being able to hold her own on the ground was another altogether. Abattoir was wrenching back on the armbar one second, and then the next, Lucky had grabbed her by the boot and was trying to pull her over. She resisted, of course, but with her leg weakened that wasn't the best road to go down, and it only took a moment or two before Abattoir hit the mat.

She held onto the arm, trying to keep the hold on (the classic face-down 'Russian armbar'), but her grip was more tenuous now, and Lucky had a solid grip on her leg. The last thing she wanted was to give the other girl a way out and get locked in another submission in the process. Abattoir slowed her breathing down - it was very obvious, given how loud it was through the mask - focused her concentration, and tried to roll the two of them over to give her a better position. At this point they were pretty much rolling around on the mat, jockeying for an advantage. If ever there was an instance of jumping into the deep end to learn how to swim, this was it.

Once Abattoir slipped, Lucky spread her legs and made sure that the two weren't goin anywhere. With Abbatoir face down, Lucky wasn't as concerned about the armbar as she once was. The masked girl was more or less just laying on Lucky's arm. She tried tugging on it to see if she could pull it free, but it wasn't her main concern.

Lucky tried her best to fkeep a tight grip on Abattoir's boot and triced to push it back and slowly inch her body over it. if she could curl her free arm around Abattoir's leg, and bend the girl's leg over her arm, she could try and put the masked girl in a very awkward Calf Slicer.

Lucky's arm would be trapped but the weight of her chest would be pressing against Abattoir's leg, which would be pinching Lucky's arm. It would ultimately result in Abattoir's leg and knee nbeing painfully stretched.
