Thoughtlock (Submission): A gogoplata/Hell’s Gate. Maya will often do this from a position of play ‘possum. As the victim leans close, she will grab their arm and pull them close while simultaneously pressing her shin against their throat, which will also lock the trapped arm. She will complete the lock by holding the victim’s head and pulling it into the leg, applying pressure to the throat.

Life Tap: Standing high kick to the head.

Sweet Release (Submission/Hentai): Maya applies a tight head or body scissors on her opponent. In hentai matches, she will use her opponent’s vulnerability to fondle and arouse their body.

Personality: Maya just wants to have fun, plain and simple. After years of being secluded and locked away from the outside world by the Order of the Impending Storm, Maya has just wanted to explore what riches life has to offer as well as learn from where she came. Being controlled for most of her life, Maya will often look to control her opponents and those around her, even Lilith. Maya’s life under the guidance of the religious order caused a great deal of confusion with what was real and what was not. Lilith and Moxxi are still working this out for her.


History: Maya had been informed that she was abandoned as a child within the city of Athens and was raised under the guidance of the monks. When she turned 16, shortly after a ritualistic tattooing ceremony, Maya learned that her parents were actually the victims of the Order of the Impending Storm’s scare tactics. The Order were a mob that masqueraded as monks, but used fear tactics, including murder, in order to control and extort citizens of Athens and the surrounding area. They also had the law enforcement in their pocket. When the Order murdered Maya’s parents for standing up to them, they decided to take a new route to their scare tactics. They would raise and parade her about to their victims as powerful incarnation of a goddess whose wrath would be brought upon those who dared to defy the Order.

Maya, secluded from the outside world, was left to the teachings of the Monks. However, she used their own secret passages in order to sneak around at night and accumulate an impressive number of books and audio/visual equipment. She would teach herself history, science, math, and several languages. It wasn’t until she came across the Order’s armory that she began to formulate her escape plan.

On Maya’s 18th birthday, she was to be presented to the people who were under the Order’s wrath. Maya had other plans though. She had concealed a pistol within a book that she insisted keeping on her hip. Around her chamber, she rigged a number of illusions created by the audio/visual equipment and some chemical reactions. Utilizing these, she not only killed her handler, but fought through the forces of the Order that came at her. When all was said and done, the Order laid mostly dead and broken. Maya took all that she could carry of her hidden belongings, what she thought would be enough money, and a bit of artillery before alerting the long-oppressed citizens of their freedom.

She journeyed out on her own with little knowledge of the world apart from what she taught herself. Maya was quickly met with a quick dose of reality. She unintentionally traveled east, where she was met with much hostility because of her appearance and attitude. While in Russia, she was held at gunpoint by a group of men, who proceeded to capture her and forced her to fight in underground matches for the amusement of her captors. Some of the matches were violent in nature, while others were sexual. Maya persevered through it all and learned various devastating maneuvers along the way. One day, her and a few fellow captives organized a revolt against their captors. They didn’t manage to completely overthrow them, but they did manage to escape.

The group would travel across the Pacific, landing in Alaska before entering into Canada, where they met up with a few other wanderers. Maya, Gaige, a robotics expert, and “Zero”, an assassin who preferred blades, joined together with Axton, a former United States marine, and Krieg, a psychotic victim of torture who only wanted to be seen for the gentle man that he was inside. They would join forces and run wild across North America, eventually recruiting one other member to their gang while in Mexico: Salvador, the gun-loving heavy with a temper. Together, they had a good run before coming across Sanctuary, where they felt quite at home amongst men and women of their own kind.

Joint History:
However, a local barkeep and the seductress of Sanctuary would be certain to reveal to Maya that not all was right in Sanctuary. There was a woman who had a similar background to Maya, but had since secluded herself from the founding group of the city for personal reasons. Maya decided to set-out to find this woman and learn from her what she could. She fought through the hordes of bandits that worshipped the secluded woman, whom they called “The Firehawk”. Maya eventually made her way through these hordes to The Firehawk’s chambers, and drew the ire of the red-haired woman. However, she quickly earned the outlaw's respect when she was challenged to hand-to-hand combat. Maya inspired this woman, Lilith, who decided that it was time to leave the den once more and travel...and fight. Their partnership together soon led them to underground fightclubs and wrestling leagues, where they quickly grew popular as both singles competitors and a duo dubbed the Sirens of Sin (sometimes the Sultry Sirens of Sin in the more risqué venues). One of these leagues led them to a familiar face from Sanctuary: Moxxi. Her Underdome league proved no match for the Sirens, and she quickly set them up with a tryout for AFW..leading them to the hallowed grounds of Friction.
