Akuma With Me

Syd stroked her pony tail with one hand, while the other fished her flip-phone out of her pocket and absently thumbed it open and shut. Allie was excited, but she didn't seem to fully understand... but it was too late for Syd to say anything about it.

"Uh..." She said. What was there to see?

Oh, she meant movies. "Whatever you want. I mostly drink tequila. And beer sometimes. It doesn't matter." She ended up sounding much gloomier than she intended, or realized.

"I dunno, I can't see you over your tits. Let's go." She opened the door and stood in the doorway while she waited for Allie.

"Great!" Allie chirped.

"That means I look awesome." She didn't even break a stride as Syd walked out of the door and she looked through her phone. "We really need to get you a better phone, Syd. I'm pretty sure you're the only human left with a phone like that." She teased as she strode past Syd and to the elevator. She knew Syd liked to take the stairs but there was no way in heck she was doing that.

"If you're taking the stairs, I'll meet you down there. I'll have all the arrangements made by the time you walk a billion flights of stairs."Allie teasingly turned and stuck her tongue out at Syd as she stepped into the elevator. She pulled out her phone and began flipping through it. If Syd was coming her way, there would be plenty of time before the door closed, if not, she'd just push the button and go on her merry way.

"My phone is fine."

Syd stepped onto the elevator next to Allie, and leaned back on her hands folded over the railing at the back. She had never been much of a conversationalist, and she had never really had to be. She was beginning to get the feeling that maybe she should say something to Allie. She had no idea what.

And if she thought it was bad now, what would she do in four more hours when they were stuck face to face doing nothing but staring at each other? Allie would do all the talking. That was good. Maybe they could talk about the movie, which, probably, would suck. Most movies did. It was part of the reason why Syd liked to watch them, because she liked that she could see all the things wrong with them, but from a cinematographical point of view, as well as a cosmic/philosophical one.

She glanced over at Allie without quite making eye contact, and gave it her best shot. What came out wasn't words, though, only a muted throat-noise, like the chrysalis of a conversation starter that just wasn't ready to hatch.

"Mnhn..."

Allie pushed the button to the ground floor when Syd stepped through the elevator. She paid no mind to Syd's attempt at starting a conversation. Instead, she thumbed through her smart phone as she looked at movie times while the elevator slowly cruised down the long ride to the bottom. She'd actually gotten pretty good at looking up movie times.

However before she could rattle off what was playing, she heard something come from Syd's mouth. She turned her eyes as she scrolled at the times and looked at Syd from her peripheral. "So, have you tried any of the food yet? I mean, is there something you like or are you too cool to like food too?"

Allie turned fully at Syd, grinning as she teased her when she saw Syd really struggling with something. Allie frowned. Maybe Syd had gas or something? She looked weirder than usual. "Like, what did you eat back home? I tried to eat healthy but to be honest, it's pretty hard for me to pass up a good hot dog." Allie giggled. Didn't that sound naughty?!

"Uh... not really." Syd shrugged, keeping her eyes glued on the elevator door.

Since arriving in Japan, Syd had survived mostly on transplanted American food, or at least the Japanese idea of it. Hamburgers and fried chicken were okay for a little while, but even Syd knew she had to eat healthier. AFW was a big deal, and she had to make sure she brought her best when she got into the ring. She already knew she was smarter than everyone else, but she couldn't risk someone beating her up just because she couldn't find better food.

"I just eat whatever. I don't care."

The moment the doors opened, Syd was out of there, and walking in long strides for the front door of the building. She didn't look back for Allie. She was probably right behind.

Allie huffed at Syd. Wasn't there anything in the world that she didn't get all emo over? Wasn't there one thing that she didn't have to pretend to be uninterested in? It was far too difficult. Allie scrambled to keep up with Syd's pace and was next to her in an instant.

"What about... karaoke?"

Allie threw it out there. Syd would probably reject it instantly but, why not? It couldn't POSSIBLY be worse than a movie with Syd. Who knew, maybe Syd had a pretty singing voice or something? Allie thought the idea could be fun.

Syd gave Allie a look. She couldn't possibly be serious.

"No."

What would Syd even do? Drink by herself while Allie slurred her way through a Bon Jovi song while trying to act sexy for the Japanese pervs? She might as well have just come out by herself if that's what Allie wanted to do.

She cleared her throat and looked around at all the weird Tokyo street decor. It wasn't like Chicago at all. It was like if Chicago was run by an amusement park.

"Where are we going?" She asked. It seemed like an important question.

Instead of frowning, Allie just giggled. She hadn't really expected anything else from Syd. "Hehe, I figured you'd shoot it down in an instant. I just was curious. Maybe, just maaaaaybe I could think of something so completely anti-Syd that I'd come to find it was totally Syd." Allie shrugged. "Oh well!" She was going to try and not let Syd's grumpy attitude get to her.

"Alright Syd." She said as she hopped in front of the white haired girl and spun around. "Today we're going to be daring. We're in Japan, so we have to BE Japanese!" Allie pumped her fists and looked eagerly at Syd. "We must prepare ourselves for... SUSHI!" She tried to say the last word in as Japanese voice as possible and beamed.

"Can you handle it, Syd? It's raw, dead fish rolled onto the infinite whiteness of rice, drenched in blistering wasabi sauce. It's like the most hardcore thing you can eat. You haaaaave to like it." She tried her best to make it sound like the most emo thing that could ever be eaten.

Allie spun around and marched forward. "This is going to be fun!" She squealed and pumped her fists.

"Ha. I've had sushi."

And she didn't like it. But she didn't say that.

"I like, uh... tuna-fish and stuff." Except she didn't mean in sushi. With her wealthy parents frequently busy and out of the house, Syd had grown up mostly on food that she could find in the cupboards, like canned tuna for sandwiches. She liked to add a little hot sauce in with the mayo.

"I'm not emo," she said, feeling the need to point that out again. "You think I'm just one way all the time and I'm not. I like to fight. You liked it too, when you were kicking that British bitch, or English or whatever."

Allie frowned with disappointment when Syd said she had already had sushi. She found new and inventive ways to kill her fun and it was really starting to get annoying.

"Well, I'm pretty sure they have tuna sushi." Allie said in a disgruntled grumble. "And, I only think you're one way because you only ever act one way. Besides, you think I'm only one way! I'm not!" Allie raised her head and shook it haughtily.

"I don't like to fight." Allie corrected as they finally arrived at the sushi bar. "I just liked kicking that stupid bitch. Beating her up was fun. Having to put her in that position when she can still fight back? No thanks. I'm not getting all sweaty and gross."

The hostess smiled to them and started speaking in Japanese. "I got this!" Allie said with a smirk. She had been practicing this line a lot and she was pretty sure she had it down. "Anna... taga... eggo-o... hannasue... no-deh-sue... ka?"

Allie smiled brightly and the server looked at her for a moment, trying to figure out what Allie was saying. After a moment her eyes lit up. "Engurish? Hai, Hai! Table for you?"

Nailed it.

The lady brought them to a table and sat them down, giving them a menu as well. "Anyways." She said back to Syd. "How is fighting not emo? Since you're so smart and everything."
