"Some guys, you know you better...watch out."
We join everyone's favorite - and only - Tension ninja princess in the backstage area, listening to the deft tones of Lauryn Hill over earphones as she waits for her music to start, putting the finishing wraps around her feet and completing her classic outfit - all ninja style in the front, party in the back with the tight shorts and good name placement at a key area. Nothing too special, but it was a style all her own, and from the sound of things it was part of the reason she was getting some attention these days.
"Some girls, some girls are only...about."
Nothing too serious, she hadn't been around for too long, and Tension didn't get quite the play that Friction get - it was still the main show. But she had her fans. She was starting to see signs out in the audience. There was even a little talk about getting her an action figure, and she was seriously psyched about that, even if she'd be the only one buying it. She'd taken a little break after the craziness with Taylor and Johnny, but no she was back in the rotation and rolling hard after a good match with Damus[/url:2aptpqr4]. But that was last week - today was a new program, and she had a new fight.
"That thing, that thing, that-" She looked up as one of the stagehands gave her the signal, and she tossed the earphones off as her music started, tearing off the last bit of tape around her fists with a yank of the teeth as her - well, technically it was Ryu Hayabusa's, but copyright be damned - music[/url:2aptpqr4] started up. She made her way out to applause and camera flashes, commonplace but always welcomed, bouncing to the music as she made her way down the ramp.
She gave the fans a little love, going over to the side and slapping high-fives as she worked her way around the ring. She noticed a lot of wrestlers often talked about how much they owed the fans and how they wouldn't be where they were without them and how they were the real stars of the show. She thought it was all a bunch of ass-kissing when she watched it on TV and she still thought that now, but even she had to admit there was something about having them behind her that egged her on. It was a competition, but it was entertainment, too, and everyone likes to have their performance appreciated. Kozue was no exception.
She slid into the ring and hopped on over to the corner, standing on the middle rope as she threw a 'rock on' sign to the audience, before she bounced off, spun around and came down on the turnbuckle, leaning against it and waiting for her foe to come on out and get his beatdown.

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
The arena's lights were dimmed as a tribal theme[/url:3pz9nogy] began to play over the speakers. A masked figure wearing a patterned baggy pants rushed in to the scene and slided himself between the mat and the lower ropes almost, startling a good amount of the audience. He looked around for a bit like a lost animal before going to the nearby turnbuckle and climbed on top of it. The masked guy then stood up on top of the post before leaping forward, and landed on the center of the ring after pulling a flip.
Looking at the ninja girl on the corner, he tilted his head slightly for a bit, before clasping both his hands together and gave her a bow. There were cheers for that acrobatic performance, but that didn't seem to affect him. Afterwards, the masked guy took a step back and waited for his would be opponent to come over so they could start the match. He didn't do so silently, however, as his body seemed to fidget around a bit, while looking around at the audience once in a while. Either he's nervous, impatient, or probably both.

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
Why did this guy's music make her want to hula dance all of the sudden?
She could help but shake a little bit to it as he came down to the ring, shimmying to the drum beat. It had kind of a tribal theme to it that she really dug, but for the life of her she couldn't guessed what it had to do with him - 'the Mask', he was called. Of course, he had on a mask, and not even a luchadore thing - no, this was full scale, face-covering mask. Looked rather uncomfortable to her eyes, but if that's how he wanted to bring it, she wouldn't object.
He made a pretty impressive entrance, even if he looked lost for most of it, and it gave her an idea of what she was up against. This guy seemed to be pretty agile, a nice little change of pace from the other guys she'd wrestled before. None of them had really been slowpokes, but she always had the speed advantage when everything came down. This one might be a little different, something to give her speed a real test. If there was one thing she loved about the AFW, it was the surprises it kept throwing her way.
"Nice little entrance." She skipped his way, coming to the center of the ring and bending down, craning her neck around as she examined his mask from different angles. "So, you're 'the Mask'. Truth in advertising, I'll give you that. Could've been more creative."

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
The Mask didn't say anything to what Ninjette said, although he did pay attention to her lips when she spoke. He jerked a thumb towards himself, as if he's saying "that's me", and pointed a finger to the ninja girl and herself before bumping his own fists together, followed with an ok sign. He looked at the ref, who gave him a sign after the bell rang to signal him that the match had started.
Part of the crowds were confused to his no speaking attitude, but then again there's only little publication made at his entrance. Most of them probably already forgot or didn't really pay attention that he's introduced as deaf person. Those who remembered, didn't seem as confused, but still curious about what this deaf fighter was capable of. It's like he's a character that came out of a manga or something.
In any case, The Mask immediately started by attempting to slip behind Ninjette, and lowered himself to swipe his opponent's legs.

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
Little weird, this one, even as Tension guys went. She cocked her head to the side as he did the motions - she got the gist, sure, but what was he trying to do with that? Was it some kind of gimmick? The silent type? If it was, she couldn't thing lamer. Except for maybe being an actual mime-wrestler, that would be weirder. But not much weirder.
She saw the referee make her motions and it finally dawned on her. "Oh, I get it." She slapped her forehead. "Deaf." Well, it was good to know the AFW didn't discriminate with the handicapped. Very progressive.
She didn't have much time to dwell on it, though, because his hearing-impairment didn't do a damn thing to slow his reflexes down. He moved in fast and trying to work his way behind her, coming out with a crisp leg sweep.
"Fuck, that really sucks." She backflipped, letting the kick pass underneath, just barely managing to avoid the trip. "Like to have a little banter when I fight, back and forth." She landed in a crouch and jolted forward, coming at him with a knee strike towards his chest, hoping to hit before he could rise up. "Aaaaaand I'm talking to myself. Gah."

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
Her reflex startled the masked guy a bit, but the knee strike that followed it up drew a grunt and sent him tumbling backwards, his legs sticking out in the air. It seemed that the ninja girl wasn't just about attire. The Mask's legs bent inwards and kicked out as he flipped his way to get back on his feet, one hand on his chest. Standing up, he tapped the spot that just took the hit a few times.
"Heh."
Well, that wasn't as impressive as his entrance, but that's not a biggie either. The match just started and he's still measuring his opponent's strength. Shaking her head a bit, The Mask backed away and circled around Ninjette in big circles, maintaining some space to dash in when he found an opportunity.

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
Bullseye, right on target. Her knee caught him by surprise and sent him on his back for all of a split second, before he did the exact thing Kozue would have done in his place - rolling back, flipping to his feet, getting back a standing position and giving her zero window to move in. Not an inch. This guy was slick, bringing unorthodox stuff to the table, not the kind of thing you learn in too many wrestling camps. No, there was definitely more to what little met the eye with 'the Mask'.
"Oh, smooth moves." She started to circle around him as well, keeping the distance for the moment. "Where'd you learn to-" She grunted and smacked her forehead. "Right. right, deaf. Think I could remember that for ten seconds, shit." She shook her end abruptly changed directions, bouncing from left to right and left to right, heel to heel, back and forth as she closed in, staying unpredictable and throwing out a roundhouse kick at his ribs when she got close enough.

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
The footwork of Ninjette might be distracting for some, but The Mask wasn't the one to fall for tricks easily. He had street experiences, where charging at your opponent in a straight forward manner was probably considered as a rookie mistake. The good thing about being deaf was that he didn't really need to pay attention to any possible taunting and thrash talks from his opponent. Sure, he could miss a couple of interesting banter, but the ring wasn't exactly the place for that.
Keeping her eyes fixed on the ninja girl's movement, he stepped to the side when her kick came in, taking a bit of the strike before his arm would attempt to lock in the leg and pressed it to his side. The impact might sent him stumbling a bit, but he would keep his grip tight so his other hand could also hold his opponent's leg.
"Ho," he let out before moving backwards, attempting to make Ninjette jump around a bit. "Yo, yo," before tossing the girl towards the furthest turnbuckle. "Yo!"

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
For all the glib and jive, the silence was unnerving. Not his fault, not like he could turn off the deafness, but that didn't help things one bit. Five fights so far, and she'd gotten used to a rhythm. Taunts to mess up her opponent and throw their game off, using her speed to stay ahead, her agility to work the angles and stay loose. With him, that wasn't working. He was like the anti-Ninjette.
For instance, most opponents would have just had to take her kicks in stride, no chance to counter. This guy? He managed to catch it and whip her around by the leg, sending her flailing towards the turnbuckle.
She hit the corner with a grunt, shaking the cobwebs out as she glanced at the ref. "He just call me a ho?"
The ref shrugged, just as confused as her.

Re: Ninjette vs. The Mask - Dogfight
The Mask immediately rushed towards the corner where he tossed his opponent to, not giving Ninjette too much time to plan something. His pace surprised some, even if they already saw his entrance a while back. Instead of going all the way and launch a punch of something, however, he jumped in front of the ninja girl and stopped like half a second or so, before jumping up and flipped himself backwards. His legs would aim to catch her head to flip her as well with a Hurricanrana. It wasn't really a move aimed to really hurt his opponent, as he planned to disorient her a little for a follow up.
