The Movie Thread
Okay, making this because I love to talk about movies and discuss them, and this is somewhat more convenient than writing a new topic for every movie I see. Plus, if there can be a Pokemon thread, there can be a movie thread.
So it is written, so it is done.
To kick off, I'll talk about the latest movie I saw - Noah.
I love Russel Crowe and Anthony Hopkins, so them being in this was enough of a reason to go see it. They both did a good job - I particularly liked Anthony Hopkin's character Methusalah. He kind of plays this slightly crazy old man living in the mountains that gives advice to Noah about his visions.
Which reminds me - God doesn't speak to Noah, like in the Bible. He just sort of gives him visions. In fact, he never speaks to anyone. In fact, God doesn't even seem like a being or an actual individual at all - he seems cold, impersonal, distant; nothing at all like the way I think most Christians want to view God. That's just one of the many changes the story makes to the Biblical narrative. I think they all come together to make a stronger story than just a simple retelling off the story, but I understand why certain Christians might take umbrage. For instace, a big change from the Bible's story is that only one of Noah's sons has a wife in this story. It's not outright stated but very clearly implied that the other two are going to have procreate with their nieces. There's a plot twist that revolves around this, but all the same, it seems like a weird change to go with. All for the sake of drama, I suppose.
My main problem with the movie is that it's too long. Without giving too much away, it has a climax right before the Ark reaches land...and then it goes on. I guess they did this because they wanted to tell the ENTIRE story of Noah, even the part after he lands the Ark that nobody really cares about, but at that point it was reaching the two and half hour mark, I think, and I was seriously considering just walking out. It tends to drag on at other points, too.
Still, it was a fairly entertaining movie with some passable story and good scenes. Great special effects, too; the Flood scenes are pretty incredible if you're into Apocalypse scenes. Watchable, but nothing to go crazy over.

I don't go to the movies anymore. But since this thread exists now...go watch Resident Evil: Degeneration and Resident Evil: Damnation. Way better than the live action movies. There, I said it. Someone had to.

I've seen both those movies, and while I agree that they're better than the live action ones...that's not saying terribly much.

Noah was quite an eye raiser to do, but then again, there was the Passion of Christ and the rest :/

Re: The Movie Thread
Saw the Raid 2 last Saturday - a few thoughts.
-The more is bloody and violent as hell. I mean, the first one wasn't for the faint of heart, but this is just goes way beyond. Broken bones, gore, blood - you name it, and this movie probably does it at some points, and there aren't too many discretion shots. Honestly, with a few minor additions, it probably could have got away with an NC-17.
But I loved it. It's long, two and half hours, but like I said before, I don't mind that long of a movie when it brings something new to the table, and the Raid 2 has some of the most insane fight scenes I've ever seen on film. Creative, intricate, and non-stop. The minute you start to get even a little bored, it throws in another awesome action sequence, and you're back to it. I loved that.
The plots better than the first, too - we've got some crime drama going on here, with a war brewing between two major factions for control of the city. Some interesting story stuff, with the son of a big boss trying to rise up and make a name for himself, and Rama, the supercop hero of the story, trying to infiltrate the organization - it's not the Godfather, don't get me wrong, but it works well enough to keep you focused between sequences and provide good opportunities.
If you want an crazy two and a half hours, if you love fight scenes, you have to see this movie - preferably with friends, that really helps the experience. It's a roller coaster movie, and it does its job well.

I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier yesterday, and it was very awesome with a very bizzare twist to it. Along with lots of hot Black Widow action. :3

Yeah, that was a good movie, and Widow was awesome in it. I was a little on the fence about her getting a solo movie, but after that, I'm convinced she could hold it down.

Re: The Movie Thread
Nick Fury needs his own movie, and Black Widow getting her own solo movie would bet VERY awesome to see " title="Very Happy" />.
