Valley Doll vs. Alaina Sanders - The Slamazon and the Amazon

Oh, the dragon sleeper was a nasty one. Almost made Valley feel bad about putting it on. She'd submitted to this one more than a few times, herself. Unpleasant memories, having her neck bent back, waist squeezed, looking up at the back of her opponent's head, stretched...

As Alaina reached up and tried to get her head free, pushing at the hold, Valley tried to snag her left arm with her free hand and pull it to the side, increasing the effectiveness - one of the worst things about this move was how it left you one hand free for all sorts of things.

Alaina moaned in pain as her arm was grabbed and the already torturous hold became even worse.

The worst part was she didn't have any freedom to worm her way or power her way out of this. Her left arm was now held, and with her right arm Alaina just grabbed onto Valley Doll's leg and squeezed. She had to think of a way out and the last thing she wanted to do was tap out.

"Argh... n-no way...." She muttered as it took everything she had not to start slapping her hand on the mat.

Valley shook her head as the Amazon pulled her leg. It was almot dÃjà vu.

The helplessness of being in a hold you can't escape from was a feel she had experiended many, many times. That submission match she participated in during one of the 2009 shows, that was the worst. Locked in a camel clutch, no way out, Valley had to tap after one of the longest minutes of her life.

It wasn't a proud moment, but in retrospect, she had no regrets. She put up a good fight. What was there to be ashamed of?

And so had Alaina.

"You're a great wrestler, Alaina." She wrenched the hold, bucking down. "There's no shame in tapping. Everyone does, sooner or later."

Alaina grit her teeth and had tears slowly pooling around her tightly closed eyes. She wasn't about to tap out yet. She tried to squirm about as best she could. Even if it didn't do her any real good going down without some sort of fight didn't seem right.

Alaina knew it was futile at this point, academic if you will. However, she wanted to test herself. She needed to test herself to see just what it would take for her to tap out, to see how much punishment she could resist from a hold like this before being forced to submit. "Gonna have to do better than that...." She muttered in a shaky voice, indicating how much pain she was already in.

Damn. Stubborn girl.

Valley let out as deep a sigh as she could manage. It was almost admirable, and the crowd was starting to cheer her on, too. Always loving a good show of guts and stamina, and if she was in their seats, she might have felt the same way. But out here, in the ring, the tone of it didn't jive at all. There was such a thing as being too stubborn for your own good, and Alaina was getting close to pushing it and stepping right over that fine line.

Valley kept up the hold, but if this went on for much longer, she might have to release it on general principle. She was not going to cripple this poor girl over something as petty as a wrestling match.

Alaina held out as long as she could... then suddenly the extent of the hold hit her.

"AHHHHHH!" She shouted loudly as she felt an awful pain shooting through her, and before she even knew what she was doing she became aware that she had begun to rapidly tap. She had been out-wrestled by the veteran, and this had been a clean match. Alaina didn't know if that made her feel better or worse about losing.... again.

Valley immediately let the hold go and released Alaina, helping out of it and rolling her onto her back. She ignored the crowds cheers and claps. It was appreciated, greatly, but for now her focus was just on Alaina.

The girl was a solid opponent, all over. Several times she had Valley throughout the tense match, and she fought like a seasoned pro. The only thing Valley would even think to harp on was her pushing the hold, and even that might have been some of her own fault. The dragon sleeper was a rather brutal hold to be using, on anyone. Valley knew submissions, but she typically shied away from them, and this was the reason.

"Are you okay?" She looked Alaina over, head to toe.

Alaina was relieved to feel the hold released immediately. Valley Doll had class, something her last opponent lacked completely. Alaina rolled onto the mat and initially laid on her side. She covered her face and shook her head. She was in pain but more from finding herself defeated as the bell rang again than anything else.

Alaina tried to discreetly wipe away the tears that had flowed down her face... she didn't want the crowd to know how badly she hurt. At that point she felt someone watching her even though she wasn't looking up. She heard the tall blonde veteran speak.

"...Yeah, I'm ok I guess." Alaina finally mustered in a dejected tone.

Yeah, she knew that look. The look of a wrestler who hadn't quite gotten around to winning yet, or one that hadn't heard the ref rule in their favor for a long time. She'd won it herself more than a handful of times, more than she cared to count, and seeing it on someone else's face always touched her in the wrong places.

"Hey, don't be like that." Valley gave her a playful, soft punch in the shoulder. "You did a great job, really. You worked the mat great, right from the start. No shame, here."

"Heh, thanks. I just don't like losing especially since I'm on a big stage like this." Alaina said with as much of a smile as she could muster. "Well, back to the gym for the next match eh?" Alaina said as she held her hand out to Valley Doll.
