[quote="Tatyina":2vwp38ry]Why do we do events at all? People could do them on their own and doing them could just create unnecessary drama.
Because sometimes providing a platform for creativity fosters creativity that might not otherwise be fostered.
There are people who want Tension to do better than it's doing. Maybe this will help. Maybe it won't

Re: Something New for Tension
I have a question, spiched with a little explaining chatter:
I am sometimes(twice a year or so) asked if I can come over to Tension for a match. I don`t intend to win any gold or have large backstage segments in Tension. So would I have to find a partner for this also, or is a simple stroll over still ok?

Re: Something New for Tension
Why would you need to have a partner to have a singles match?
Tension matches are officially mixed matches.
In a tournament or for titles, there will be times when the matches end up being M-M or F-F. This can lead to an impasse ooc, and a weird situation ic.
This idea is to provide ways to not miss out on rp stuff, and ic it's a dramatic device that lots of people can play with.
It's a partnership out of mutual interest to help each other get to the top or whatever the goal is, because in tension a m-f pair will be more effective than a solo dude/chick since there are more matches available to them. That's the idea, anyway. I'm sure Sellers has some contract for you to sign stipulating shit about the partnership.
If the mods said "YOU CANT HAVE MIXED MATCH ANYMORE WITHOUT MARRIAGE LICENSE", it wouldn't mean anything. Because screw them, man, we're just trying to have a good time. Do what you want, but when it comes to the board as a corporate entity, conspiring together to produce collaborative stories, we need some common ground to work with. Shared RP elements and stuff.

Re: Something New for Tension
I hate when I discover threads that are 4 pages in when I learn about them.
I'll admit, its late as fuck and I'm exhausted after both work and returning from a WWE live event, so I might not have fully understood what this is all about.
But it seems that this is basically saying, in over simplified terms, "We want to put everybody in a tag team, because we feel the entire reason behind Tension not having much in the way of stories and title match/defenses and such comes down to a majority of the board feeling that M/M matches are just icky. Now, we can make sure M/M matches never happen, which should make everybody happy. Except the 4 people who actually like such matches, but fuck those guys."
Oversimplified, I know, but I'm tired. All that being said, I actually don't have much issue with this idea. If people being scared of possibly having to do icky M/M matches at some point prevented them from having fun in Tension, and this idea helps them do so, then I don't see a reason why not to go ahead with it. The majority enjoys it, Tension benefits, and quite frankly, there's nothing stopping the 4 of us who do enjoy such matches to continue do so and to even have such matches on the board itself. Just because the majority has a distaste for it does not, by itself, make it bad or wrong to do it.
As for title matches, While I do think that, if your planning on being Tension Main or Tension Hentai Champion, you should be willing to accept all comers, or else whats the point in letting you have the shiny belt if you aren't going to be a team player, having this "Duo" team up option will, or at least, should, overall increase stories and matches involving such titles...which is good, because they need it. Two of those belts have been held for over a year with barely any activity.
So in other words, Tension has the potential to gain massive benefits from this idea, and the only "drawback" is that it pretty much officially eliminates M/M from AFW, or at least keeps it completely contained and limited to the 4 guys that actually enjoy it. Which frankly doesn't matter since us 4 are the only one's who were doing such matches anyway.
So no harm no foul. Hope it goes well.
Edit: Technically, there is a second drawback, though that's probably the wrong term to use. But its basically a question of "If nobody gave a shit to do stories and stuff before, why would they give a shit now?" That's assuming of course, that the problem is more than just "But M/M matches are icky! I don't wanna risk being put in one!"

Re: Something New for Tension
Not quite...
There are two separate points on this duo system idea and unfortunately people are becoming focused a bit on the secondary point (which for me amounts to about 15% of the reasons behind this idea):
The first point is that we are trying to boost Tension's storylines (which are noticeably not flourishing as much as Friction). By having characters ICly pushed into a partnership with someone they may love or hate, it automatically creates a tense situation for them and thus lends a lot to storyline. Members can easily set up a running storyline with their partners without mods needing to push things along. But in my mind, just cause duos would be there, doesn't mean that we'd be forcing to do certain things... First and foremost this would just be something you can use in your character's stories
The second point (which scarcely happens) is that sometimes a MvM or FvF title match or match in a tournament will occur which one or both the members are not keen on. In these cases there would be a logical storylines reason why we can swap characters around to avoid such a match... If both members are happy with the MvM or FvF, there is no reason to do any swaps (unless it is instead required as part of a storyline script). It is not intended to completely eliminate MvM and FvF from Tension

Re: Something New for Tension
This idea I like quite a lot, in fact this system would have spared me some headache back during that tournament i made for tension some months back where people didn't want to get into m/m matches. It doesn't force anyone into anything and gives people who don't like certain matches to swap out without discarding a storyline. My only question would be how duo's are formed IC, is it management that decides who is a duo or can people just team up? also can a tag team also be a duo if they are m/f?
Now to address people
Hey theres no need to worry about things straying too far in that scenario since Ro is dating my guy Ronan " title="Razz" /> and she would never do that, or would she? drama!
Hey thats hurtful Kitten, my male characters are now heartbroken and distraught!
Now to address people
Example 2: Ro Laren is a Tension wrestler, and friend of Johnny's. If they were a duo, the complicating factors would be 1. Johnny's married to Taylor, 2. Ro's breasts are huge, and 3. Taylor deals with another chick working closely with Johnny, Johnny deals with balancing a working relationship and friendship without straying too far.

Re: Something New for Tension
This was going to be a counterpoint to the points Kel brought up, in agreement with Alex's statements...but fuck it. There will just be a counter argument for that and then somebody will probably call me stupid for not just going along with it.
Like the three of them said, this is what's happening, so I'm going quit bitching and just live with the decision. This idea is going through and either everyone at Tension will pull through in a surprising and awesome way to make it a huge success, letting Tension flourish with long term important character developing storylines,or it will stay exactly the same way it is now, with the people that care about stories and such will continue to work only with each other to make them, while the ones that don't really care about such things will work with each other to do whatever they like.

Re: Something New for Tension
This is not a "This is going to happen, deal with it..." This is a "We are strongly considering this, please give ideas to improve.. comments... etc."
From the sounds of it (disregarding confusions with how this would work), the *main* concern from those that see this as a negative (alex's comment) boils down to the possibility that this would overcomplicate something that is already "working". I personally don't think its that complicated, but perhaps in that case we should allow an opt out where by you don't have to have your character set up with a duo (even if ICly its mandatory for some characters). They can continue on with how Tension is working currently, but I would recommend that you at least give the idea a try out period with one of your characters (and probably it being more mandatory for characters you choose to go for belts or to be put in tournaments)
However:

Pretty much... I can't see it having a negative impact where people stop playing on Tension because of it (particularly if you can opt out). So it should be either win or break even.
