Politics is fun! *sarcasm detected* Obama or Romney?

The popular vote determines how the electoral college votes.

It's suppose to, at least.

There's no federal law saying they have to vote according to the popular vote. Some states have laws saying they have to, but not all of them.

I'm certainly not going say who I am going to vote for but I have to step in and defend the electoral college because people loooove to shit on it.

The Electoral college is the BEST way to go. It is far superior to a popular vote. You want to know why?

So New York and Los Angeles don't decide everything for the ENTIRE country.

There's a reason the Senate exists.

There's a reason why we are a republic and not a democracy.

The popular vote is stupid because people will vote in dictators.

Your vote still counts with the electoral college in place. In fact, thanks to the electoral college it probably counts MORE than it would with a simple popular vote.

Just because Wyoming only has 5 people per square mile doesn't mean they deserve any less representation than California.

(well actually they do deserve less, but they deserve a proportional amount and that is what they get)

What happens when one state's electoral college goes against the popular vote?

Lets just admit it, the US election will be just like it was over here in the GB.

We have had enough of the party that works to help everyone cause of the WORLD crisis and then we decide to elect a rich idiot into power, thinking he might help cause he is rich and becuase during the camping he said he was going to help.

In the end all that happens is our lives get worse and his rich buddies get richer. Happened here with the tories and now there are protests every month and annual riots now.

There have been several presidents who have lost the popular vote but won via Electoral college votes. Because the population isn't distributed evenly among states, it's a fair way for smaller states, or less populated states to get representation as well.

Let's say California and New York all voted for one guy and every other state voted for the other guy, you don't want the guy who won only TWO states in just because there are more people living in those two states.

(or however you need to distribute it out to make my point.)

But then that's devaluing the individual's vote then, and making it a state thing, isn't it?
