Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Time and time again it has been shown that you cannot be big if your target audience is the hardcore fans of anything...
If you want to go big you need to go mainstream, casual. I thought this was kind of obvious... but so many people just don't get it.

Do they move merch?`Sure. Is this fanbase good to have? Sure.
Is it good to focus on only one segment of viewers and search for the lowest common denominator? No. If Walt Disney knew that 80+ years ago, why not Vince?
"I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty."

Again, I don't want to scare te casual fan away. I just want the WWE to aknowledge that Big Show can and has been lifted. Children won't turn away frm Cena when they know that he can do it, and Adults won't facepalm whern they hear it again. Besides, kids are not stupid in the web age and can(and probably will) google Cena and see what he has done before.
I don't know a better example, so I take Soccer as how I would like to see it. Soccer is huge in Germany and we have a show akin to US Sports center just for Soccer. To highlight the dimensions, Players are traded for 50+ million dollars, and tv rights are sold for billions. So in this Sports Center like show, hosts are journalists, managers and presidents of clubs and soccer legends. People tune in in droves to see it every season, and many, many casual fans know the accomplishments of their respective clubs.
Of course that would show WWEs booking pattern, so that would hve to be overhauled first.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Your not making a good case.
I mean honestly, casual or hardcore, who really cares if the acknowledge that Cena lifted Big Show before or not?
I mean, is it THAT fucking important that you just HAVE to hear Micheal Cole say "Tonight, in our main event, can John Cena lift Big Show off his feet for an AA for the 22nd time!? Tune in!"
That would sound stupid. Granted, they shouldn't act like its never happened before, but they don't have to have a freaking running count of all the times its happened.
Besides, you don't seem to realize, most casual fans tend to have short term memories. They won't remember the Daniel Bryan/Dean Ambrose main event from Raw last monday by this time two weeks from now, so why expect them to remember every single occasion of Cena lifting Big Show? It's just a quick pop that takes 30 seconds about and is forgotten about the next Raw.
Simply put, we don't need to be reminded of past events all the time. It doesn't stop us from enjoying how things are going now.
Now, you've compared pro wrestling to....comic book characters, power rangers, and now soccer. I'm sure theres another comparison I've forgotten about in the meantime.
WHY you keep doing this, I will never understand. You are BAD at this. Your comparisons never make any sense, nobody understands them, and you pick the weirdest shit to compare it with.

I know. But finally getting an official retirement from him, with him completely cutting ties with the company, is still kind of a bummer.
