Re: Topic: Wrestling?
I watched TNA's Slammiversary PPV and I'm feeling self important, so I made a little review.
Match 1: Ultimate X match: X Division Title: Kenny King vs Suicide vs Chris Sabin
So first off it was obvious that they lowered the cables a little, probably to compensate for Sabin just coming back off his last ACL injury I would assume. This was actually a pretty solid matchup, the three of them focusing more on putting on an actual wrestling match, as opposed to a simple series of high spots over and over like alot of recent Ultimate X matches have been. Suicide, now portrayed by T.J. Perkins, known for wrestling under the name "Puma", was impressive, using some impressive fake out/evasion stuff at one point. There were the usual highlights, such as the tower of doom spot and such, and Sabin continued to use his more high impact/power moveset that he's used since he's return. Sabin ended up pulling the belt off the X to win the title belt.
Overall, a good match, focusing much more on the actual wrestling then the usual spotfest.
Match 2: Six Man Tag: Magnus, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy vs Anderson, Brisco, Garrett.
This match was set up when the three heels came out during a boring Hulk Hogan promo, which led to Hogan claiming that Boston, where tonights PPV was held, wasn't afraid of "Ghosts, Terrorists, or 3 little pussies in leather", before pointing at Garrett Bischoff and stating "Your a little bitch, and your old man is a bitch!", while flipping off Anderson, in whats certainly the most random and funniest thing Hogan's done in TNA yet.
Match itself was your usual 6 man tag, nothing bad if nothing too special. Good note though is that Samoa Joe is FINALLY appearing to give a shit about wrestling again, as he was on fire when he was in the ring, looked like he lost a little weight, and FINALLY has shaved off that STUPID mohawk of his, looking much like his old 2005 again, which is a relief. Wes Brisco botched taking a Twist of Fate at the end of the match, dropping too fast and at the wrong angle for the move, so Hardy did it again...only for Brisco to botch his angle and landing AGAIN. Faces win when Jeff Hardy Swanton'ed Brisco for the pin.
Good match.
Match 3: Jay Bradley vs Sam Shaw: Winner enters BFG Series.
This match was stupid. Jay Bradley is stupid and can't work, while Sam Shaw is stupid, can't work, and wears the dumbest possible gym shorts to the ring because he apparently can't afford ring gear. Why TNA decided to let these two go on, and have Christian York, who has wrestled longer then any of them and had great matches with Jeff Hardy, Robert Roode, Kenny King and others, sit on the sidelines doing nothing for the BFG series is a very dumb decision.
Jay Bradley wins via being stupid. Match was boring.
Match 4: Devon vs Abyss for TV Title.
Match was originally going to have Joseph Park in it, but he got attacked backstage, and Devon challenged Abyss, who came out and whooped ass before pinning him to win the bet after a Black Hole Slam. Meh. Nothing special. Abyss is still boring, Joseph Park is still funny.
Match 5: 4 Way elimination match for Tag Team Titles: Bad Influence/Dirty Heels/Mexicans/Rednecks.
Honestly...Match of the Night. Even GUNNAR was great in this match, each time pulling out all the stops in their own signature style throughout the match. Too long to give details. Storm and Gunnar win Tag Titles after Gunnar makes Aries submit to the "Gunrack" torture hold.
Match 6: Gail Kim vs Tayrn Terrell: Last Knockout Standing.
By far and away the best Knockout match since the classic Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong matches. Both girls fought every bit as hard as any of the men on this show did, and both put themselves through hell and are probably sore as all fuck right now, using chairs, submission holds, and their own bodies to harm each other. Kudo's to them for breaking the mold and showing that knockouts can just flat out beat the shit out each other when it comes down to it. Terrell wins after hitting running Ace Cutter off of the long entrance ramp onto the floor.
Match 7: AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle.
Let's be honest. We ALL knew this match was going to be flawless. And it was. At least, almost. AJ Styles debuted some new, darker, theme music tonight, that sounded awesome and perfectly fit his new character 100 percent. Only issue with the match is the ending, where Angle got the pinfall off of what looked like a botched rollup attempt. While the botch is fine, having Angle win doesn't make any sense. Yes, Angle was announced tonight as TNA's second inductee into their hall of fame, but having him win the match just because of that was stupid. AJ Styles has only had 3 matches since coming back, this being his first PPV Match in months, if not all year. He NEEDS to rack up wins if he wants this "Lone Wolf" character to get over and be taken seriously and while his win over James Storm was a nice start, having the Anderson match be a DQ and losing this match doesn't help him at all. Hell, AJ's new finisher is the MMA "Knee Slicer" hold, and Angle went in with a storyline injured knee, giving him the perfect excuse to lose!
Great match...just the wrong guy won.
Match 8: Sting vs Bully Ray No Holds Barred match TNA World Title.
You know that saying "So bad, its good?" Look, nobody expected this match to be a technical classic, what with Bully being a brawler and Sting being old, but anybody who says that this match "Sucked" is stupid and hasn't paid any attention to the storyline. This was a fun and entertaining brawl. Anybody expecting an actual hold for hold wrestling match is missing the point of the entire match, it's supposed to be a fight. Bully cut a great promo at the start, reminding the world that "No Holds Barred" isn't supposed to be about weapons, but about being allowed to do moves that are normally banned, such as the Piledriver, which Bully pulled out twice. Wonderful promo and led to a brilliant spot where Bully, his first piledriver failing, actually cut the mat ropes, removing the mat and the padding underneath to reveal the hard wood base of the ring, and piledriving Sting right on top of it, Sting later hitting his Scorpion Death Drop on that. Eventually, Bully prevailed thanks to a well timed hammer strike on a mid-air Sting for the pinfall.
Was it a good hold for hold "wrestling" match? No, no it wasn't. Was it a great and entertaining fight with both guys beating the piss out of each other while brawling, hitting with chairs, being put through tables, and pulling out some fun and surprising moments such as exposing the wooden bottom of the ring and pulling out surprise move that justify just WHY is was made a No Holds Barred match? Yes.
In other words, while the main event wasn't a technical classic, it was everything it was supposed to be, and did a Fantastic job of it too.
So overall, the only real things to complain about regarding tonights PPV was that AJ Styles REALLY should have won his match with Angle, simply because it made far more sense. Aside from that, and Jay Bradley/Sam Shaw failing horribly, this was a pretty damn good PPV. TNA has been greatly improving for quite some time now, which idiots who can't get past that former WWE guys work there aren't realizing.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
Wes Briscoe sucks as wrestler. Period. If Kurt Angle puts you and Garett Bischoff of all people over and G.B is a better wrestler and a better showman than you, there's not much hope left for your Wrestling career. No idea why everyone was praising this guy before he came to TNA, had not seen anything from him.
Ken Anderson also sucks as A&8 Guy most of the time, although it got a little better lately. Liked him better as smug tweener asshole.
I do not feel bad for York for sitting out, the Gut Check guys are probably in for the quick points for Angle and Joe and the other guys like Robbie E or Joe in 2011(?)
Roode, Harris(Braden Walker) and now Gunner formed teams with Storm. Even with Walker in the equation, easy to see who is the weak link here, but maybe Gunner will learn something from Storm outside of the ring. Still better than WWE with their pointless and repetive squash matches for directionless main event or upper midcard guys.
Always glad to hear about a great women's match, really. Women wrestling in WWE ist pure garbage expect for for NXT.
Always was and allways will be a fan of the Stinger. SAdly AJ can't pull Crow Sting as good as I hoped, but there is still hope for it.

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
And so ends another round of Cenawinslol with Payback. But I am not really upset with it cause his opponent was the only guy in the ME scene that brings less to the table than him.
That was probably the last major Championship for Ziggler, but you can't ask for more in his position. Grand Slam Champion at least. Will probably be in Christian's and Miz position soon. 6th attempt to get Del Rio over incoming...
Another absolutely meaningless Reign of IC Champion Wade Barrett ended. If not for the money, he should probably ask for his release. As much as I think that the Genesis of McGillicutty is kind of funny, he's absolutely average in every possible way. But could have been worse, like Bo Dallas.
No Christian Cage! " title="Mad" /> But RvD promo!

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
That was one AWESOME Raw. Just about everything had a purpose and was exciting, the crowd was hot, the matches were good, and MARK HENRY blew the fucking walls off the place with the best promo/attack he's ever done.
Plus, LESNAR/PUNK!!! WOOOTTT!!!!

Re: Topic: Wrestling?
*Mark Henry is indeed catching fire again with the hall of pain/angry black man gimmick. Would like him to win the WWE championship from Cena, and then D-Bryan vs. Henry again.
*Cesaro getting a midcard push with Mr *Weed the people* and Zeb also caught my interest, although I am really disappointed with Swagger after the fuck up he landed before WM.
*Christian back, feud with the Shield? Don't hope so, although it did not really hurt Kingston and the Usos to feud with them.
*Still can't believe Axel is only a heavyweight championship away from surpassing Mr. Perfect accolade wise at this point. But he's not Ryback like bad. Just really, really average. Would still have liked to see Hawkins in his place, but better Axel than nobody from the low card.
Indeed a really good episode of RAW, hard to decide between Impact and RAW in terms of quality here.

Holy damn, this is impressive.
The WWE has a fuck-huge archive of wrestling video, part of it is protected by a robot and the rest is kept in a NUCLEAR-PROOF CAVE.
When the nuclear apocalypse finally happens, the first thing the survivors will find is a massive vault of wrestling footage that managed to survive. Wow.

I have to give credit to Ryback this time. He has indeed improved on the mic, or it is the magic of Y2J that rubs off on him. The first time I don't have to cringe at the thought of a Ryback feud.
Also very impressed by the Usos, a samoan drop to Sweet T? Impressive, even if they used the momentum of the movement. I hope they finally get a chance to win the Tag titles at least.
