Deathbird vs. Ric Spalding

Ric Spalding was doing sit-ups in a locker room backstage just before his debut match that would commence in a matter of minutes. The former United States soldier was fueled by the things that angered him most. Many things troubled him. No matter how far he tried to get away, he could never escape the torturous memories that plagued his entire existence. Ric was almost willing to accept the possibility that his past would come back to haunt him until the day he died. Who was Ric's first opponent? A woman. That was all he knew, but that was all he really cared to know. He didn't look for any data on his opponent. All the Hardened Soldier knew was that he could not hold back, no matter how harmless she seemed.

A member of the backstage crew informed him to leave the locker room: "Mr. Spalding, you have one minute before showtime!"

When the crew member left, Ric slowly stood on his feet. He popped his knuckles. "'Showtime...'" Ric took a deep breath and made his way through the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, he was met with an unexpected surprise: the American flag was hanging along the entrance, almost like a curtain of sorts. This brought a half-hearted smile to his face. It seemed that the league officials wanted to make him feel somewhat at home. Ric passed through the star-spangled curtain, keeping his eyes locked on the ring in the center. He climbed over the ropes, and placed his hands on his hips, waiting for his foe to grace the ring with her presence.

Suddenly, a loud sound like an eagle shrieking filled the entire stadium and the crowd was terrified. Suddenly, an explosion of black smoke came from 5 feet close to the ring. Once it was clear, Paramore's "Misery Business" began to play and there stood a girl with dark purple and black hair. Her clothing consisted of a dark shining purple sleeveless zippered suit with the collars covering the bottom of her face, long black fingerless gloves, and black army boots.

As she was walking along, she noticed that the men were all looking at her in awe of her beauty. She responded by giving an innocent look in her eyes and a seductive kiss to make them swoon and fall before her. Inside though, she is a sadistic, bad-tempered, and revengeful woman who would do anything to get what she wants, even if it means getting the men out of the way. She then jumped and kept her balance on the top rope before doing a double axle flip into the ring and gave out a loud screech that can reach 3 feet at the audience.

Deathbird then saw Ric standing there and would smile at him as she said, "Eric Spalding...how nice to meet you at last."

Ric stretched his arms and legs to warm up. Loosening up was a self-taught habit he acquired in military training to lower the risk of injuring himself during activities. He wouldnâ€

t be able to finish his routine practice, however---a dreadful cry disrupted the warm-up session. Ric saw a pillar of black smoke linger just several feet from the ring. Squinting, he saw Deathbird, whose beauty was noticeable. She blew kisses to the men who were captivated by her presence. Ric took note of this. Deathbird was a temptress, perhaps a person who used her appearance to lull people into complacency. â€œNice tricks,â€ Ric muttered with sarcasm. A dull, unamused look fell upon him, as reflected in his eyes.

The Hardened Soldier placed his hands on his hips as he watched her pull off an extravagant flip to land in the ring. She screamed again, mimicking a terrible bird; she lived up to her wrestling name. Deathbird introduced herself, flashing a smile. â€œLikewise, Deathbird,â€ he replied. Nothing in his words matched his facial expression. His eyes narrowed. There was something about this character he did not like. Especially that smileâ€¦the woman was hiding something behind her curled lips. Something sinister. â€œThereâ€

s something off about this lady. I should be cautious when I engage her,â€ Ric thought to himself.

As Deathbird greeted, she would also narrow her eyes at Ric's figure. Her mind thought, "He looks prepared for this. Such muscle, such aggressiveness in his eyes, definitely someone to not be underestimated." She would brush her hair back and say, "You are called 'The Hardened Soldier'. Obviously, you maintain a well-built figure and it is necessary to serve your country well. I don't suppose you expect me to go easy on you."

The bell then rang to signal the start of the match and Deathbird would immediately get into her fighting position. "So, shall we get things started then?"

Deathbird gave an equally inquisitive stare, just as Ric did moments ago. She acknowledged everything that Ric was: a freedom fighter, with nerves of steel. He had no compliments for Deathbird, because they would have most likely been taken as insults. He could tell that she was going to try all kinds of tricky things to fool the former soldier.

When asked if he expected to be taken lightly, he shook his head in disagreement. "No....not at all." Ric then held up his fists, taking a fighting stance. "Nor should you expect me to hold back," he stated. After all, complacency was one of the things he convinced himself to avoid at all costs. It showed a lack of discipline, something that was preached against so much when he was undergoing his military training. The bell rang, and Ric once again replied to Deathbird with a nod. He was ready alright.

The Hardened Soldier approached her, fists raised. He took a few steps around Deathbird, and looked for an opening. He didn't see one. "I suppose I need to make her open up," Ric thought. Ric threw a feint left hook, making it look like it was about to go straight into her face. He then pulled it back quickly and threw a heavy right punch, trying to take advantage of what might have been a convincing mock attack.

Deathbird would smile seductively at Ric at his response. "That is exactly what I want to hear. So, give me your best shot, big boy...I dare ya." She finished with a wink so the two can begin the fight. As Ric took a few steps around Deathbird, she would do the same and they both would follow each other like cats preparing to unleash their claws.

She then would react when the guy threw a left hook and tried to move to the opposite side. But as it turns out, the attack was faint and Ric would Deathbird would try to use both arms to block the attack, but Ric unleashed it hard and good. "GAH!" she cried out as a bit of pain already set in on that arm and would step back to try and keep some distance.

The punch didn't hit the desired target, but it did cause some harm. Seeing that Deathbird was taking some steps away, Ric decided to follow up on his first strike. She's backing up. Time to engage. Ric stepped forward, following Deathbird as she retreated. If there was one thing he had to remember, it was to pursue her with caution. If he acted recklessly, he would be prone to exposing his own body to an attack.

Ric took his time, not in any rush to find an opening. Patience was something he always had. It would require a drastic situation to make him hurry, and even that was rare. Instead of targeting Deathbird's face, he chose to go for a lower part of her body. He swung another feint punch in the direction of Deathbird's head. If he timed it right, he would pull back his fist swiftly and attempt to strike her gut with a roundhouse kick.

As Deathbird was rubbing her arm from the pain, she noticed that Ric was preparing for another attack. She smiled as she thought, "So...you're taking initiative. Good. Now, it's my turn." She would prepare herself though she's not in position and wait for her opponent to strike her. If she can guess correctly from earlier, Ric would fake the first move before using the second as a silent but effective strike.

Sure enough, she watched as Ric would go for a punch to her head and would duck to try and avoid it. When she ducked, she would attempt to rush and tackle her opponent to the mat. If this worked, she would also try to go on his chest for a bit of ground pounding to his face.

Deathbird quickly ducked to evade the punch! "Tch, fuck," he quietly uttered. Before Ric could even attempt the roundhouse kick, Deathbird knocked him over. She was on top of him, delivering blow after blow to his face. He let out grunts that were barely audible with each punch. A small cut formed on his forehead. Blood glistened under the broken skin, but none of it oozed out. Deathbird could throw some sharp punches, without a doubt.

In his current position, Ric could not afford to be careful. Raising his arm, he attempted to block the rest of the blows. His arms were free, something that he had to take advantage of. He curled his other arm to where his elbow was primed for an attack. Ric swiped at Deathbird with his elbow, aimed just above her eyebrows. He hoped that if the slash did connect, enough force would be behind it to form a cut. One of the main purposes of an elbow slash is to cause blood to flow from any cuts that are made and blind the enemy fighter with the blood that flowed down. But that would be left to fate. Ric was not expecting all of those events to occur, however.

Deathbird would continue to throw punches at Ric and she saw that he already had a cut. She would then smile vilely as she licked her lips and said, "Blood...I love the sight and taste of it." The cut must have really caught her attention because she didn't see that her opponent had another thing coming for her. Sure enough, when the elbow came at her, all she could do was go wide-eyed and raise only one arm to her face before getting knocked off of Ric.

"AAAAAAHHH!" she would scream as the pain felt hard on mostly her head and would examine it to see if there was a cut.
