The design of that gun is questionable. Most notably in the area where one trigger normally goes.

That's Rick Deckard's gun in Blade Runner
The double trigger allows to shoot two lasser beams at once which kills bots/replicants faster.

And no...the iron cod piece of the book aren't in the movie. Harrison Ford refused to wear one.
