Re: Favorite Movie?
Good Will Hunting! (Always makes me cry)
500 Days Of Summer (in recent memory. Joseph Gordon Levitt is hilarious in it)
The Wrestler (Also makes me cry. I looove Darren Aronofsky)
Braveheart (Makes me want to paint up and go attack things with a baseball bat)
There are so many good movies, I can't pick favorites, really. Favorites are just what's freshest or more revisited in your mind at the time.

Re: Favorite Movie?
Braveheart is not just an actiony movie! I can't deny that movie. Like if I watch it in mixed company and the guys gets all pumped and the women are a little uncomfortable, I try to play it off like I'm not into it but inside it's "waaaaaar!"

Re: Favorite Movie?
I have not seen Avatar. For the longest time I thought it was a movie of the anime, and I wondered why so many people were talking about it.

Because its the "Greatest Movie Ever".... Course there are like 200 other films that have earned that title.... And they earned that without the HD-3D-CGI

Re: Favorite Movie?
Yeah, a movie's greatness factor has very little to do with the technology they used to make it. Technology can help, certainly, but it has to help the movie to accomplish something, and isn't in itself the point.
In general I tend to like movies about normal people. Movies with heart and humanity that are personal and intimate and smart. I mean I still like movies like Avatar (or what I understand it to be), but I wouldn't take them home to meet my parents. >_>

Re: Favorite Movie?
I liked Avatar when I saw it in theaters but then I realized something about it. It's the exact same kinda movie that has been before at least 10 diffrent times.
White solider comes to foreign land to fight the "savages". Ends up getting captured, learns their ways, forgets about the "Modern, civilized society" to live among the "Savages". And during his time there he hooks up with the Chief's daughter. Sometime after that the Soldier goes back to where he came from and the Natives are facing doom. The soldier then realizes. "society sux!" and goes back to fight with the Indians/Samurai/Blue ppl.
In short... Avatar is a Prettier 3D copy of "The Last Samurai", "Dances with Wolves", and a bit of Pochohantas.
Want a Movie with heart and humanity? that is personal and intimate and smart?
Watch "Fight Club"
