A new champion, a change of heart?

Sometime after the recent title match ended, various wrestlers were being interviewed
on their thoughts on the outcome, and when it came time to Kei to say something about it
she was reading something and looked at the interviewer with a grin as she put it down.
"Moments ago we witnessed the crowning of a new AFW Champion as Akashi Tanikaze defeated Kirin to win the title. Obviously your views on the former champion arenâ€t all that positive, what are your thoughts on the belt changing hands?”

She takes a moment a looks down at what she was reading then back at the person. “The dictionary defines the word champion as ‘a person who has defeated all opponents in a competition or series of competitions.†with that being said my views do not change, well, kind of. As you already know, some time ago there was a title change where the champion was not defeated for the title, rather it was handed down to someone who happened to be at the right place at the right time. Now while that person was given the duty and honour of caring the promotional torch, nothing was done to 100% , without a shadow of a doubt, EARN the title of champion. However……”

She has a grin on her face.

“I will admit that Akashiâ€s victory did impress me, and, at the same time, so did the efforts of the former ‘champion†which is why Iâ€m having a change of heart so to speak. Akashi, the record books show that you are the current AFW Champion, and like I mentioned a second ago I admire what you did out there and you have earned my respect and I acknowledge your skills as one hell of a wrestler. You won the belt, the question is can you win the honour of me declaring you, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, the undisputed champion? Now granted my record in AFW is very small compared to yours, and Iâ€m not asking you for a title match. All Iâ€m asking is prove to me that you are what the belt says you are. All Iâ€m saying is f.”

Before she can finish, Sion sneaks in and takes the mic from the interviewer.

“Thatâ€s a good speak Kei and Iâ€ll let you finish, but thereâ€s one problem.” Kei raises and eyebrow as her son appears to have a motive. “Thereâ€s someone else that wants to do the same thing.” He then faces the camera. “Unlike her, I got problem with acknowledging that you are the champion Akashi, and out of respect I advise you to watch your back. Keep one eye open at all times. While she isnâ€t anywhere near there yet, one of these days Daisuke Kamiya will make her way up the rankings so fast and before you can even blink sheâ€ll be staring you down and make you question your reign. And I know what Kei was about to do, challenge you to a non-title match. Do it if you want, but remember, one of these days youâ€ll have to face Daisuke Kamiya, maybe not to day maybe not tomorrow, but some day it will happen, and when it does youâ€ll see why Daisukeâ€s the fastest upandcomer in wrestling today. Akashi, congratulations on winning the championship, you did earn it out there, no doubt about it, but remember, you wonâ€t be champion forever.”

Sion hands the mic back to the interviewer and gives a small glare at Kei before leaving. Kei watches him leave then looks back at the guy grinning then leaves herself but in the opposite direction.

Akashi had been witness to the fanfare and reactions that had come from her earning her chance. She was expecting some people wouldn't care and others still might begrudge her winning the title. But that didn't matter to Akashi, however, there were some things that didn't sit will with her about a few of the criticisms. But instead of posting some interview she decided to send a message to the source.

She sent out a message to Sion asking to see both Kamiya and Kei in person so she could have a little chat with them.

Kei notices Sion and Dai going to where Akashi asked to meet them. "You two go ahead, I'll see her later." She goes off in the other direction, but just as they got to the meeting spot she jumps up from being them "IT'S LATER!" causing Daisuke and Sion to jump slightly. "-_-....well we're here." Sion says as Daisuke looks around to see where Akashi is.

Akashi was standing int he middle of the ring, as she awaited her fellow wrestlers. She stepped forward with a smile. "So I hear you don't think I have what it takes to be champion?' She said looking between the two of them. "I don't need to prove anything to anyone you know. I AM the champ now. But I'm not that kind of champion. I honor the title because it is the most sacred thing I own." She then clenched her fist tightly. "I'll prove to anyone anywhere anytime that I'm worthy of holding it!' She declared. "But next time, come challenge me to my face!"

Something about the setting of an empty arena (since it wasn't really said, think it be a good atmosphere for this) Kei kind of liked. She listens to what Akashi has to say.

Kei shakes her head "I'm not saying that you don't, just as you know some of the circumstances with that belt's history are a bit unclean, but I think you can change that. You're good, not denying that, but given what I mentioned earlier can I really accept you as the new torch bearer based on how the previous holder never won it and had it handed to them even you did win it cleanly. You are the champion, but not undisputedly. But as I said I think you can change that and I hope you can, I honestly do."

Before Sion can say his part she looks like was going to leave but then looks back at her. "I could have said what I did back then in the ring right after you won it, but I'm not one to steal the spotlight from someone during there moment. Don't get me wrong, I do respect you Akashi, but as you know given what I've seen since my arrival I need to see a true champion. You did win it and that counts, but again how the person before you got it, it leaves me scratching my head a little, but I know it won't take long for you to make it all clear, and I hope one day we can face off, but I do hope before that time you can make me recognize you as the undisputed champion."

She holds out her hand to her, showing that her words were true and she does want Akashi to succeed.


Sion looked like he was then going to say something for Daisuke, but Dai motioned to him that she can handle this one. "I know what she's saying Akashi, but at the same time I believe you when you say it's the most sacred thing you own and that you will honour the title and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say I know you can. Though something Kei said made me think, she said it doesn't have to be against her, just prove it to her somehow, is that right?" She looks over at Kei for confirmation.

"I did say that. Hey I wouldn't mind facing her at some point, I think it be a good match up, but seeing her in action is something special too."

"yeah, just checking." She looks back at Akashi. "Though like you apparently, I too have some proving to do, not just to her but in general." She said semi-shyly, but then sounded more firm and confident with her next sentence. "Rankingly speaking I know I'm nowhere near a title match, but I believe that I can give you a good run regardless if the belt's on the line or not. I know there are a lot of others out there that would love a piece of you, but I'm not going to let myself get lost in the shuffle and let those that are technically on top have all the fun. I know that I got what it takes to become one of those, all I ask for is a chance to prove myself to you."


Kei and Sion could tell Dai was hungry for a peice of her and waited for her to respond.

Akashi listened carefully but shook her head. "I can't control what happens before I earn the belt but I was there when all that happened. I consider all three of those girls my friend. Tajiri-San, Sarah-San and Yoko-mama. I've fought all three of them. Kirin and Sarah twice. No matter which one of them was champ, they would have been worty. If you don't think so go fight them yourself. But I don't care about that. I'll take you on anytime anywhere until you understand, either of you." She said eying both the ladies. "If you want a match then let me know. If you can beat me then I'll give you a title shot. Any kind of match you want. But if you loose, you'll stop this nonsense about having a worthy champion and you'll rise up the ranks like everyone else, ok?" Akashi said as she gripped Kei's hand tightly and shook it while turning and nodding to Daisuke as well.

the arena workers calls Kei over and tells her something, she then looks back at Akashi "Love to say and continue this but there's something I have to attend to first, but I'm good with that, I'll keep you informed. Good luck until then." She then takes off as Sion finally is able to get a word in. "Know what your upcoming match schedule is Akashi? From what took place here I think it's safe to say Dai would like a match with you sooner than later if it can be helped

Akashi bowed to Kei as she left and then looked at Sion. "I'm the champ. If I want a match I'll have a match made. Simple as that. Go ahead and set it up whenever it's convenient for you." She said with a grin. She then looked at Daisuke. "What kind of match do you want?"
