Wrestling Information

Strategy:

Talya is everything that her friend isn't. She's able to stand toe to toe with the worst of it and trade back just as good as she gets. Talya isn't afraid to step up and attack head on and take some punishment while she is at it. She uses big, traditional wrestling moves mixed in with some “street fight” style ones to create a strong offense with big slams and big pain.
Her finishing style is a mixed bag, but like her partner, tends to use submissions to end a match. This of course isn't to say that she is not outside ending matches with one big slam and pinning an opponent though.


Style:

Talya is a traditional, heavy hitter with a modest submission background. She's able to withstand punishment and pain for quite long periods of time and uses it to her advantage. Unfortunately, compared to Mika, Talya is somewhat slow, often relying on strong hits to make up for the lack of speed in her step.
It is also worthy of note that Talya is much, much quicker to resort to more “questionable” tactics then her partner Mika, especially if on the loosing end. She does so however with grace to maintain both the respect of her friend and partner and her status as a face in the wrestling circuits.


Type:

Talya is friendly, loves to have a good time, and dedicated but somewhat overly protective of her friend and partner Mika. She is noticeably much quicker to anger and is sometimes a hot headed person quick to respond without thinking. This has gotten her into trouble more times then a few, but Mika always justifies it because generally there is always a good underlying cause.
Talya however does not have the shy, good manners that Mika projects. She will do what she has to when it comes to accomplishing goals and tasks, even if Mika will generally disprove (Which is always sorted out one way or another). For example, if you embarrass Mika or her own self, she will pay you back one way or another. Talya is also not above using humiliation techniques to cause opponents to quit, though things like this are few and far between in recent matches. (Mika has really caused Talya's uncontrollable inner fire to burn at a now steady pace)

Preferred Attacks:

Talya isn't afraid of locking up with an opponent and testing their strength. That being said, she also isn't afraid of using such things as trips, takedowns, hammerlocks or good old punches and slaps to place her opponent in a disadvantage. Big, traditional wrestling moves such as suplexs, backbreakers, DDTs and even piledrivers are common when she gets a match going in her favor. Wear down submissions tend to be somewhat traditional of the female wrestling variety, with lots of boston crabs and camel clutches.
Talya also enjoys whipping an opponent into the turnbuckles and working on them in that small confined space.

Finishing moves:

The Bugaku Dance: The Bugaku Dance in reality is an Asian form of dance done sometimes at Shinto shrines and consists of two forms, sahō no mai (“dances of the left”) and uhō samai no mai (“dances of the right”). Starting behind her standing opponent Talya will grab her under the chest or around the stomach, lock her tight and quickly turn slightly to the left before delivering a strong German suplex (if the opponent is bigger but still able to be suplexed, Talya will often let go of the suplex half way and launch them over her, then continue to the next step). Talya then rolls over to the right and rises with her opponent, this time turn slightly to the right and delivering another, harder German suplex. With the Bugaku Dance complete, Talya will maintain the position for a pin or move onto another move depending on the match.

The Shimenawa: The Shimenawa is a straw rope that generally marks something sacred in Shintoism. Talya mimics the tying of the rope nature in her simple but efficient normally match ending submission hold. Often done after The Bugaku Dance if the opponent isn't pinned or pins are not allowed, the move starts with her opponent lying on her back usually. Talya first prepares her opponent by propping her up to a comfortable height before wrapping her leg around the opponents neck and locking it in with her other leg, creating a figure four position around the opponent's neck. She then props herself up to gain leverage with her own hands while pushing down with her legs, presenting her opponent with two choices: To tap out or choke out. If Talya is having trouble adjusting her opponent's head to set up the move or if the opponent is a fighter she is not beyond using her her hands to pull on the opponent's hair to both cause pain and open up the neck for a better angle.

Personality

Talya is a nice person with a loud mouth, but a happy one. Generally not one to hold back both compliments and complaints, Talya has an infection personality that you either love or hate. Most people are never in the middle and are quick to figure out if they really want to like her or dislike her. It has been a trait that has followed her since her young days in Russia and doesn't bother her none. She doesn't mind others formulating opinions as everybody has to be their own self, but she will let you know if your plans cross hers.
Among Talya's more noticeable traits is her sense of protection over her smaller friend Mika. The two have been partners in just about everything since they first met and, for some reason, Talya sees herself as a “big sister” role to the girl. Talya's sphere of influence is also very strong over Mika, and it is often Talya who urges Mika to go out and do what she wants to do or get what she wants. Talya is encouraging and willing to tell people the truth to their face, then turn around and encourage them to reach for new heights no matter what the risk.
Talya is unfortunately a bit of a hot head as well and tends to remember the slightest wrongs done to her and especially to Mika and is very revenge focused, even if it will be a long time coming. She does have her rare moments though where she would rather start a fist fight then plot something intricate, although by that point Mika's calming counter sphere of influence is already hard at work trying to calm the raging inferno down before she puts a glass or a chair over somebody's head.

Past/History

Talya was born in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Russia's Sakhalin island. Her father was Japanese and her mother was full Russian, and both made a living working for the local rail system in their small town outside of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Talya grew up like many other Russian children, playing in the streets, huddling from the cold, and punching those that got in her way.
Talya's parents loved her as she was the only child of their small family. They weren't necessarily poor, but lived on the edge, always having just enough money to provide for their daughter. All of this changed however during an unfortunate accident at the local train station. A passenger train derailed suddenly and barreled into the station killing forty seven people and injuring two hundred and seventeen. Both Talya's mother and father were killed, as Talya's mother worked in the ticketing office and her father happened to be attending passengers boarding another train. Talya suddenly found herself alone and with no relatives, was thrust into the care of the Russian state. Of course a young girl on an island was of no concern to her and she soon found herself in an orphanage, all of her belongings handed over to the Russian state for “safekeeping” until she turned of legal age to claim them. It would be the last that Talya ever saw of any of her things and her small family home.
Talya was labeled a problem child and moved through several orphanages, often within a month of arriving at the last one. At the age of 11, Talya found herself in an orphanage under the care of surprisingly kind Japanese folk who actually took good care of the children in their care. Talya, pressing closer to her half Japanese side, seemingly calmed down and spent several years there.
After three years Talya was 14 and actively attending school, her manners and demeanor had changed. While she remained a little spitfire, she had also learned values from others and generally how to get along with other people. She took an interest into her Japanese roots even though she looked more Russian then Japanese, and attempted to learn all she could in the little run down orphanage. Upon the recommendation of one of the heads of the orphanage, Talya found herself whisked away to the United States where she officially became an American citizen (a process that may have stretched a bit over the legal borders).
She was sent to the care of the Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine only because that the heads of the orphanage thought that she could make a better life for herself in America (and actually risked themselves legally to get her there) and the simple fact that they had a longstanding friendship with several people at the shrine itself. Luck seemed to finally find Talya as she found her way into school and part time work at the shrine at 15. Feeling more in touch with her Japanese roots, she became a Miko and happily attended the Ema at the Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine. She was actually a popular attraction (Especially to the young men around her age that visited the shrine) due to her exotic looks.
Life as a whole changed once again though when Mika was introduced to her, and the two have been never apart since. At first Talya came on with that strong spitfire role and actually scared Mika a little, but when they got to know each other they found eternal friendship.
It was Talya that pushed Mika into the world of wrestling and it was Talya that aptly followed right behind her. She stayed up late at night putting together their first outfits, talking to the wrestlers who visited for tips and pointers, even putting together little training sessions. Without Talya, none of this grand adventure would have been possible, a fact Talya is more then proud to announce.
When the fire claimed Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine Talya became worried for both herself and Mika, attempting several jobs to get their monetary income up. When it seemed like she was starting back from square one she was approached by Valkyrie Wrestling United (VWU) with an offer. She accepted and demanded that Mika go with her.
Now making money in Japan and doing something that they love, Talya wants to coordinate more then ever with Mika in hopes of opening their own shrine someday, though she has yet to figure out if it's really what she wants for herself, or if she's really doing it to make Mika happy.

Wrestling Attire

As shown in picture. Talya's hair is generally pinned up with more pins then just the one shown so that her hair doesn't fall down during matches.

Talya wears the same outfit during beach matches, minus the boots, knee and elbow pads (unless otherwise directed), and will sometimes let her hair down.

Fun Facts

-Talya is nowhere near as natural a Miko as her friend Mika, and is still trying to figure out what she is best at. Generally she is happy just being part of the culture and tending the Ena at shrines. Several people have told her that she has potential for divination and invocation, but it has yet to be proved.
-She has no favorite color, preferring to give “each color their chance to prove themselves”.
-Is addicted to coffee, countering her partners addiction to “Maneki Neko” energy drinks. The two often have arguments over which one is better. Talya is generally seen in the mornings with a cup of coffee.
-Secretly would like to go to college, but does not know what she would major in.
-Wants to own a Tosa (Japanese Fighting Dog) some day. She would also let the Tosa wander around the shrine in Tosa formal wear.
-She is actually somewhat of a good concept artist and seamstress. Talya put together both her outfit and Mika's and has been doing so since they started wrestling. She constantly gets into arguments with Mika over the design of her outfit, but Talya always wins in the end.
-Is not so quick to trust others. Doesn't fully trust Valkyrie Wrestling United (VWU) due to the strange nature in which they appeared to save both her and Mika, but is open to using their money to further her goals.
-Loves to swim and loves going to the beach, a fact that she misses about Hawaii.
-She can always out-do Mika at most physical things, but for some reason can never beat her in sit-ups. Mika has a strange habit of blowing Talya away at them, a fact that Talya still can't figure out to this day.
