Ante Up!

Wells walked into the lobby of the AFW complex with a big duffle bag on her face. She had contacted the people here and had signed a contract even being told that she was lucky enough to come at the perfect time. A 'lil kawaii princess' tournament, or something had just been announced and she would be perfect as an 'unknown darkhorse'. Wells was fairly distraught with the idea. It sure was lucky. Exactly the kind of luck the little gambler had become used to.

With a sigh, she asked for directions, deciding to take advantage of the dormatories and live inside the facility. She was lucky to find such accomadations. Again... It was the Wells Quinn kind of luck. Now she was able to cut her parents completely out of her life for better or worse.

Making her way through the complex she was in awr at the place. It was so massive. Really, no expense seemed to be spared. As she wandered around and got a good feel of the place, she wondered what the other wrestlers were like. They would be comrades right? She wondered if it was like the fake &merican wrestling where everyone hated each other in the ring but were all budy budy out of it. Finding her room and setting her things down, she wandered out to find some of these 'comrades' and see what kind of place this really was.

Her body still ached from the her recent fights, but she could not simply stop or take some time to sit in a medical ward. Lu Zhou Yi had plans to formulate. Presently, she sat in the lobby, watching the comings and goings of people as they went about their business. There was much information to be gained by simply watching. Who went where and when was always an important bit of information to have. She spotted a new face... one she didn't quite recognize. The duffel bag suggested that the girl was new. Her age and size suggested Kawaii. After the new girl left the front desk and went upstairs to put away her things, Yi went to the front desk. A few folded bills exchanged hands and Yi got a quick look at the girl's information. Interesting, a gambler... no predisposition towards abuse or kindness... No, too quick to make such assessments. This Wells Quinn was to be in the new tournament.

Yes, very interesting.

She was finished by the time Quinn came down. Yi spoke a few soft words to the lady at the desk and turned to follow Quinns. The historian was careful to stay back enough to not be drawn out by a keen eye, at least not immediately. The woman soon matched step with Quinn. "I may not be the first to do so; but, welcome to the AFW," the historian walked alongside Quinn in her wanderings, and had it not been for this breach of speech the girl may have only figured the historian was passing her.

Outside of the ring, she didn't carry her fan or her huge ropes. She did still wear the coveralls, though these were more standard and included a variety of pockets. If one had to guess, she might have been a part of some maintenance team. Black hair which usually was pulled back into two large and over the top pigtails was left to rest between her shoulder blades. "I'm Lu Zhou Yi," she introduced herself with a... smile?

Wells was blissfully unaware that she had received a follower. She would have thought it strange that anyone would particularly want to follow her aroun if she had known. Bouncing through the hallway, she didn't even notice Yi until She spoke. The sudden voice next to her ear cause her to practically leap away grom it, slamming her shoulder into the wall. "Ah!... Ow!" was the noise she made.

As she rubbed her shoulder, she looked over the much taller Yi. Registering her words, she stiffened to attention and curtseyed to Yi. "T-Thank you." She said in a soft and polite tone. "My name is Wells Quinn, um, Miss ... Yi?" She said the name with a bit of confusion. Three names thre her off and she thought that japanese people had their las names first but could not figure out what that third name was. She returned a meek smile of her own. "H-How long have you been here?" She asked. For all she knew, Yi could be a veteren with lots of advice to offer. "I hope that I don't have to fightyou in this tournament that wer're having. You look very strong."

Her smile continued as Wells bounced off and into a wall. Casually her right hand was offered to help the girl off the wall and back to somewhat of a normal walking position. Open hand, palm up, the other hand was clenched at her back... often her opening fighting stance, but today it was only to be used to help Ms. Quinn if she desired it.

When Wells was finally in a position to offer a courtesy, Yi would off a partial bow. At least the girl had manners, suggested against a heelish attitude. "I've been here for a month, still fairly new by most standards. And you won't have to fight me, unless you make the jump from the Kawaii league," she said, her hand gesturing for them to continue walking. "And I am not very strong... But, one doesn't need to be very strong to win here."

Wells used the hand to steady herself and gave Yi a soft smile, looking away slightly as she blushed. "A month? They must have people coming in all the time." She was a little confused but shrugged it off. Her eyes widened at Yi's words. "N-no! I'm tiny! I've seen some of these girls! They would smoosh me!" Nervously she looked down. "I don't even think I can beat any of these girls in this tournament I was put in. I've never even been in a fight before" She said looking back up at Yi.

She shook her head. "You are only weak when you believe it." She noticably looked over the tattoo under the girl's left eye, "if you don't believe in yourself and your abilities, no amount of luck can save you." She was silent for a moment as she watched another wrestler go by, "and most people my size and larger are in friction... The kawaii league is mostly made up of girls your age, size, and experience. "If you play effectively, you may attract some attention for yourself."

"I-I don't think I'm weak!" She said, though there wasn't conviction in her voice. She saw Yi look at her tattoo and brought her hand up and touched it. "ahh!" She winced and shook her head. "I'm fighting against luck... Not with it. She said with a defeated sigh. If only Yi knew how she ended up here. She was silent as the wrestler passed. "I'm going to try my best... It's not like I'm just going to roll oover and take it. " Though her eyes didn't have a burning fire.

A fire burned in Yi's eyes, but that was more due to genetic inheretence than any sort passion she may or may not have felt. "You're fear will be your undoing, if you let it." She let a long silence carry between them before she decided proverbs weren't working, "I lost my first match." Where was she gonna go with that? "Nothing bad comes of it. Of course, victory is sweeter..." The punishment of having to walk around the ring half dressed and handcuffed caused her cheeks to flush a bit.

"I'm not very good at these pep talks, am I?"

Wells eyes widened. "I-I'm not a fraid!" She said standing tall. "If I was, I wouldn't be here." She then sighed. "I'll take on any challenge no matter how much it scares me." She lowered her gaze. "I'm just not confident in my abilites. I don't want to be at the bottom the whole time but I think that luck isn't not on my side."

She looked up at Yi and smiled weakly. "Miss Yi. Just speaking is doing a good job, right? Aren't you supposed to be giving me a pep talk?"

She shrugged, "Funny thing about Lady Luck... you never really know whose corner she's in." The woman shrugged. "It's not something you should discount so quickly. I know what makes me feel confident going into a fight is knowing more about my opponent than she knows about me. For you, that'd be very easy, as no one knows anything about you." A smirk crossed her lips as she looked over the good Ms. Quinn.

"Once you figure out your opponent, you can learn how to play your hand against them."
