Wrestling Information

Strategy:

Mika knows that she will never be the biggest hitter on the block and has no delusions that she will ever win with brute strength alone. She is quick to avoid such things that would put her at a disadvantage and instead tries to capitalize on what she is good at, which is speed. Multiple hits combined with dodging have brought her though various brawls so far, while take downs, jump kicks, and flying springboards moves (and occasionally from the turnbuckles) make up for what her punch lacks.
Once wearing them down, placing opponents in various submission holds and forcing them to quit is the optimal path for her. Only a few times has she attempted to go for “consistent high risk moves” for a pin victory.
Basic strategy in a nutshell, don't get hit, make them quit.


Style:

Mika's style is somewhat similar to her friend and partner, but different since she lacks the brute physical force to come out on top of a slug-fest in the ring. Many would call her a “Speedy Highflyer with Submissions”, since she really doesn't fit in a single category.


Type:

Mika is generally happy, cute, friendly, and a total face. She likes wrestling and has purpose and motivation, making fans fall even more in love with her determination for victory. There are those moments however that Mika does get a lot more “serious then usual” but it generally never gets out of hand. She is not however above embarrassing an opponent with a submission move, but will generally not resort to any type of low or underhanded tactics which will overly embarrass an opponent if they didn't deserve it. (So feel safe general AFW public! If she's got you in a submission move she generally won't pull your pants down or pull your top off! She's not that kind of girl)
Generally, she's here to have fun, make money, and put on a good wrestling show.

Preferred Attacks:

Mika likes quick but fast hitting attacks and strikes that let her dodge in and out if possible. She likes running and connecting with the extra force, be it a chop to the chest or a jump kick. She uses the guise of her somewhat small frame to lure people into traps, tripping them or taking them off of her feet and then applying a submission hold.
Once in a while she will even get to the top rope and do something “crazy” like a flying head-scissors take-down or a missile dropkick.

Favored moves:

Low leg kicks, sweeps and monkey flips, jump kicks, running clotheslines, wear-down submission holds

Purification: This move usually is done before preforming a match ending submission. It's actually a modified Enzuigiri without the use of the opponent catching her leg. Mika either jumps or uses the opponent's legs as a boost and delivers a surprisingly powerful kick to the back of an opponent's head.

Finishing moves:

The Torii: The Torii is often attempted as a match ending submission move, often after a move like Purification or another hard hitting move. The move itself is a Cavernaria, where the opponent starts on her stomach or on her knees. Mika places her feet on the opposite bend of the knee and puts her knees into the opponent's back. Using her hands she locks her chin in a chinlock and pulls back until submission. The move is named Torii because of it's vague resemblance to the Torii gates of Shinto belief.

The Dai-Torii: The Dai-Torii is the exact same as The Torii, except that there is no chinlock applied by Mika. Instead, the opponent's arms are crossed over her throat and pulled back, forming an X over her own throat and choking her out when pulled hard enough. The Dai-Torii is used for matches where submissions are not allowed, and the opponent is typically pinned after falling unconcious to the Dai-Torii.

Personality

Mika is generally a sweet girl in and out of the ring even though most would say she is a bit on the quiet side. She has no problem voicing her opinions, but will tend to hold back in situations where she is the new person, or will take some time to first warm up to others. It is strange that she has this habit but takes a liking to the world of professional wrestling.
Mika has a strong sense of justice and professionalism, and generally will attempt to help others, especially when backed up by her partner who is subsequently the more physically opposing of the two.
Mika currently could not as for a better friend and partner in her constant companion in and out of the ring, Talya Tsukuchi, and would do just about anything for her. She is very defensive over her companion despite the fact that Talya constancy teases that it is generally her that needs the protecting of the bigger girl. While this is not the case, both seem to find their friendship unique and would seemingly die before breaking it. (As a side note, their constant togetherness sometimes leads to the misinterpretation that they are lovers, which they are not.)

Past/History

Mika was born in Kawabe, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, but moved to Honolulu, Hawaii when she was a baby. Her parents legally immigrated to the United States where her father could work for a local animation company, and her mother could raise Mika and eventually her two younger sisters.
Mika was born a special child, always visiting the local Shinto Shrine to hear of stories about Japanese mythology, yokai and obakemono. These stories thrilled her imagination and eventually led to her seeking to become a Miko, or a Japanese Shrine Maiden. She took a position at the “Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine” as Miko. There she not only learned things such as blessings and rites of exorcism (for bad luck and illness), she preformed them on a regular basis. It was here that she met her friend and partner, Talya Tsukuchi, for the first time. They have been inseparable since.
Mika's first contact with female wrestlers came when she was 15, when a group of local female wrestlers decided to make Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine their haven right before shows. Those that were sick or facing some sort of injury and needed strength turned to Mika who proforcmed rites over them. She was fascinated and even dedicated part of her time to watching and learning their profession. Eventually, at the urging of Talya (who was always the more brash of the two), she took to the ring herself (With Talya participating as well).
Shortly after her graduation from High School tragedy struck. The neighboring building to the Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine, storing fireworks illegally, caught on fire. The inferno claimed that building and the Kōdai-ji Shinto Shrine, leaving both Mika and Talya at a loss. Suddenly out of their Miko professions, they struggled for a short while to figure things out together.
Being lucky is a Miko trait apparently as they were soon after contacted by Valkyrie Wrestling United (VWU), who made an offer they were both quick to accept as long as they could go together. VWU soon contracted the two out to preform in none other then Mika's birthplace, Japan, under the AFW.
While wrestling is something that Mika enjoys, Talya and her are secretly building their bank accounts with matches, winnings, pay and hopefully soon part time Miko jobs, with the hope of some day opening their own shrine in Japan.

Wrestling Attire

As shown in picture, except Mika generally takes off her arm sleeves after getting into the ring.

During beach matches she will wear shorter boots and no knee pads if appropriate, or go bare foot if it's appropriate. She will wear a “swimsuit” version of her wrestling attire top which looks pretty much the exact same. During beach matches she will remove her red pants however, generally wearing a swimsuit bottom of the same white with red marking designs as her top. The bottom is quite tasteful and not scandalous at all.

Fun Facts

-Mika is a skilled Miko with a special talent for exorcisms dealing with bad luck and injury. Various people have various levels of recovery when she preforms rites over them, and has before had a “behind the ring” locker room following with other female wrestlers.
-Her favorite color is red.
-Was often teased in school for her fascination with Shintoism and being a Miko.
-Is planning on some day opening a shrine with Talya. The shrine will be dedicated to the seven gods of luck, the Shichi Fukujin. They have however made plans to have a section of their temple dedicated to Nominosukune, the god of wrestling, where they will also have a haven for female wrestlers.
-Graduated second in her high school class
-Has almost no ties with her family. They let her go out and discover what she wanted and are more focused on her sisters.
-Hates coffee, but loves the sugar free energy drink named “Maneki Neko”, named after the good luck cat seen in Japanese stores.
-Her first design wrestling attire was almost a full on Miko outfit that wasn't exciting at all. Talya had to redesign it to make it both more attractive and cute, which is what you see today. Talya also had to convince her to actually wear a two piece swimsuit during beach matches. This is actually a little ironic, as Talya herself wears a one piece type ring attire, which is what Mika wanted at first.
-Is payed by Valkyrie Wrestling United regardless of match outcomes, which in turn makes her more motivated knowing that she is saving up for end-game goals.
