A Return and a Debut! Nightingale vs. Ushiwaka

His debut match had been... a long time ago. A year ago at this point, almost to the day. Having had to turn around almost immediately after and head home to take care of some leftover business, he was looking forward to this match. A hot guy had just joined the federation, after all, and he arranged to pop his cherry, as it were, and welcome him. Perhaps he wasn't the best person to welcome someone, since he had barely stuck around to get welcomed himself, but fuck it. He wanted this. Even settling for a standard match. He pulled himself over to his locker, peering at himself in the mirror. Clad in a pair of leather tights and a fashionably distressed blue coat with no shirt, showing off his chiseled abs, he looked about ready to take on the world, and he fuckingwas.

Nic's Appearance:

That's when he was called out, and a grin split his lips open. He rolled his shoulders for a moment as the strains of his opening began to blast over the loudspeakers. He made his way out to pitch-black -- and blue flames erupted from the sides, illuminating him in the glow. The crowd roared, and Nic moved over to the side -- and popped himself onto the railing that lined the audience from the ramp, a simple jump that looked like it took no effort from him as his hands knit behind his head. He could feel the audience members grabbing for his leg, but he just kept on walking, giving a couple of girls and boys a wink and blew a kiss at each of them, before he popped off of the pole. He singled someone out at the front, and walked over as he shrugged out of his jacket. "Here sweetheart, mind holding this for me?" he asked of the cute girl. "I'll be looking for ya after the match, yeah?"

It was only then that he made his way up the staircase next to one of the corners and made his way into the ring, pushing the top rope up so he could slip under it and into the ring. He wasn't quite done though, as he climbed up the cornerpost and flexed those taut biceps for the crowd, giving a wink to the girl in the front row who held onto his jacket. After much more showboating than needed, he jumped off of the cornerpost, so he could stretch himself out and wait for his opponent.

It had been just a short time since Roy had been signed with the league and now he had been booked for his first appearance. He had requested something simple and straightforward to compete in so that he could display his capabilities without any distracting gimmicks. He was sure of this as the best plan to launch his career in the league and having finally gotten the chance to achieve something big he didnt want to waste it.

After Nic has finished showing off and settles into the ring, then Roy is prompted to come out and make his big reveal. His ring gear consists of simple purple and white shorts with black kneebands and one black wristband on his right with white boots.

Roy Ushiwaka:

Roy is much less of a showboater than Nic is and heads straight for the ring with a determined look on his face. He climbs into the ring and stands up proudly. He does a last minute check of his gear and then heads for the center of the ring to meet the ref and his opponent. Nic was both heavier and taller than he was and that made him slightly more nervous but not enough to throw him off too much. Roy prefers to let his moves do the talking, so he doesnt say anything and just nods to the referee to signal he is ready.

A shame, that Roy had insisted on a simple match. Honestly -- who came to AFW for a normal match? Part of the fun of this place was the lack of rules and open stance on pretty much fucking everything and anything. Not to mention, as Roy entered the ring, he barely even showboats, just made his way into the ring in those cute shorts of his and that nicely toned body. "What, you're the strong, silent type?" Nic called out while he walked forward, his lips pressing together for a moment as he peered the other over, eyes clearly raking his frame and taking him in like he was a piece of meat. He shifted, rolling his arm out as the referee checked them over.

He grinned at him broadly, reaching out to pat the other's bicep for a moment, giving it an approving squeeze. "Looking good, handsome," he remarked. "I'm just sayin', I could make this a lot more fun if this were an erotic match. You and I would be absolutely fuckin' gorgeous together." He removed his hand, before he put his hand out for a handshake. "Either way, I'm gonna destroy ya. Let's have a good match, yeah?"

Roy gets checked out by the referee, who clears him for the match, and also by his opponent, who has a lot more to say to him. The strong silent type wasnt really an accurate description in his opinion, but Roy decided to play into Nics assumption by not reacting. He looks at Nics hand when he grabs and gives his arm a squeeze but doesnt react strongly at first. He listens through what his opponent has to say and then extends his hand to accept the handshake.

"I wont be destroyed but thanks for the compliment" he responds as he squeezes the handshake a bit harder than normal. He wasnt angry at all he just wanted to give Nic the wrong impression on purpose so that he could surprise and flip the script on him later. After the handshake Roy raises his arms and gets into a ready stance. "Do your worst I'll beat anything youve got"

... Really? That was it? After all the effort he put into trash-talking Ushiwaka, the man just settled for a most common of rebuttals. Nic let out a low groan and a roll of his eyes, clearly disappointed. "Aw, c'mon. That's all you got when it comes to trash talk? Honestly, how boring. Though he was slightly surprised as the other man took his hand to shake, with more strength than was needed -- but he just grinned and returned the favor.

"All right, all right. Clearly, I'll just have to work to make you make noises," he remarked simply, pulling his hand away as his lips curled up into a smirk. "You better give me a fun match though." With that, he shifted into a ready stance of his own, before the bell rang out with a resounding DING. He raised his arms for a lockup with the other man, though, if Roy actually took him up on it, he would slam his knee into the other's gut to start the match off with a bang.

Roy is inwardly pleased that his plan is working. Nic is buying his act after all. Hopefully both he and the crowd wouldnt mind the mid-match personality blossom once he was a bit more comfortable and taking the lead. That was just the kind of guy he was, he didnt fully come alive until the competitive spirit got in fully swing. If there was one thing he could promise Nic it would be that he would do his best to make it a worthwhile match for the both of them.

Roy moves his arms to accept the lock up and start the match in the traditional way, so hes surprised when he gets a hard knee into his muscley gut isntead. He does not fall over but rises back up to his regular height and rubs the area. "Oh, was that it?" he asks very casually like he was unbothered. Roy copies Nics action and slams his knee up towards Nics hard abs to show that he was just as tough as anyone else.

Nic was absolutely falling for this ruse that Roy was putting on, hook, line, and sinker. Granted, he didn't quite get why someone would hide his true personality for mid match, but that's why he was the Heartbreaker and the Gambler, not the Brains. But he would certainly love to see that personality bloom, and see the match get even more excited. That's really all that Nightingale wanted -- he just was looking to have a good time, win or lose. But preferably win.

Oh, how Nic's eyes sparkled at the way Roy didn't fall over, just rubbed at the area and made such a challenging remark. Before he could say anything, Ushiwaka returned the favor, slamming his knee right into Nic's own hard abs, eliciting a grunt from the man, but he pulled himself up to his full height once more, grin stretched across his face. "Cute. Is that all you got?" he replied. With that, he grabbed for Roy's wrist with his left hand, moving as if he were going to throw him into the ropes -- but rather than let go of him, he spun them around to gather momentum -- before suddenly lifting his right arm up to slam right into Ushiwaka's neck and chest.

Roy watches as Nic takes his attack in stride just like he had done and with a grin no less. Roy didnt know much about this guy but if he could take a hit and keep going then that would make things so much more fun. Roy is grabbed and spun around towards the ropes but instead of letting go of him instead the guy brings his other arm up and slams a powerful hit into his neck and chest. Roy groans as he sinks down to one knee and grabs the part of his chest in pain.

The pain is a good motivator for him and reminds him of how important this first impression is to him. With that in mind Roy powers up and rises to his feet quickly. He swings his arm aimed for Nics middle section somewhat like an uppercut and clothesline attack combined.

Of course Nic took the attack in stride -- after all, Roy had done the exact same thing, and he was clearly showing that he would be a good match up! Why wouldn't he be grinning? Though his follow up seemed to have done quite a bit of damage to Roy, but Nic had no doubt in his mind that the other would be able to keep going. And, sure enough, Ushiwaka surged upwards, aiming his arm for Nic's midsection. But Nic, expecting a counter and still at the advantageous position of still being standing, grabbed for Ushiwaka's arm right before it landed.

"Nice try, handsome," he cooed out, before moving to try and lift his leg up and slam it into Roy's chest, releasing his hand at the last moment to do some considerable damage. "Gonna have to try a bit harder, though!" If that moved landed and knocked Roy onto his back like he intended it to, Nic would move forward, with that grin still plastered across his face, and aim to drop himself, knee first, right into the same spot that he just kicked.

Roy's arm gets caught before he can land his hit. He narrows his eyes and jerks his arm to get it back. Nic releases him and while he rises to his feet Nic lifts his leg up to stomp on his chest. The boot to his chest knocks him backwards off his feet and he falls hard onto his back with a groan. He looks up to see Nic standing over him and preparing another move and the tension rises as he does not want to be on the receiving end of that.

So when Nic drops down Roy quickly rolls to his side and recovers up to his knees. He quickly throws his whole body into a tackle from this position and aims to slam into Nic's back. He wants the dive to land Nic on his stomach with Roy on his back so that he can try and lock his arms behind Nics neck and catch him in a full nelson. "Hard enough for you?"
