The Podcast: "Aicee" is the creator and host of Forever War 555, the number 1 Women's Combat Sports podcast in the world. With its first show in 2010, the podcast had its humble roots as a trashy tabloid podcast built around the speculation on the lives, rivalries, sexual affairs, and scandals of women MMA fighters, but has since grown to encompass nearly every mainstream and pseudo-mainstream women's combat sport on God's (increasingly less) green earth. It even covers the occasional hockey brawl once in a while.

In the present day, Forever War 555 boasts an estimated 13 million viewers per episode and rising, making Aicee Everthang the de facto media mogul of women's combat sports. No one likes her. Everyone despises her, but when has that ever stopped Rupert Murdoch or Piers Morgan? The power and influence that Aicee wields is undeniable. She has millions of keyboards to push her agenda, to fight her wars, to hound and harass and badger. News stations move to her whim, Sports commissions and promotions keep her placated lest they draw her wrath, and her reach even extends into local sporting regulatory bodies and even into the parts of politics one wouldn't expect her to have sway over. In the era of alternate facts and fake news, Aicee is at the peak of her considerable soft power.

It's fortunate, then, that in her own weird way there is no one that loves women's combat sports more than Aicee, and everything she does is aimed towards getting every single eye in the world onto the sport. Capturing the world as your audience meant certain compromises... and the truth was the first in a long line of them.

Forever War 555's show schedule is inconsistent, erratic, and never pre-announced... and a major part of its modern-day success, forcing loyal viewers to chase the show rather than market to them. Despite its reputation as a tabloid juggernaut, the actual content of the modern super-budget version jumps around between its tabloid roots, actual in-depth interviews, zany gameshows, a news program, stand-up and many more less orthodox segments. Regardless of how much the show has changed over the years, one thing has been consistent:

Aicee is never there.

She's a disembodied voice on the speaker, a badly pixellated image on an old telly, a face through Skype and later Zoom, and in its latest digital iteration, a hard-light projection. Forever War 555's entire branding strategy is built around exclusivity: a host that isn't there running a program without a schedule, and the fans are the one driving the marketing through rabid word of mouth across social media seconds after an episode airs. The 2nd major gimmick that has been there since time immemorial is the questionable consent of many of her guests. While a lot of them are conventionally invited onto the show, even more are... kidnapped is an ugly word, isn't it? Misled. Yes. They're misled onto the ever-changing location of the show, and encouraged to participate before the oxygen runs out. Kidding. Kidding... or am I? Yeah, kidding. Sure. Maybe.

Let's just say she has an impregnably competent and always-busy legal team.

Personality: If you asked Aicee what she thinks she is, she would say she's a storyteller. Every phase of her life, consciously or subconsciously, has been in pursuit of the greatest story ever felt. She acts the part of the smarmy, smug, irreverent attention whore on the show, but she doesn't care all that much about fame and fortune (despite having both in abundance). No, their just a means to an end. The only thing that matters to Aicee Everthang is helping opposing fighters craft a compelling narrative between themselves, whether they (or reality) like it or not.

Aicee is obsessed with personal narratives, intense rivalries, mutually exclusive goals contested between sympathetic characters, the triumph of the victor's hard-fought victory, and the soul-crushing despair of the broken loser, and so on and so forth. She also believes that the average combat athlete does shit all to sell these narratives, and so she sees herself as a necessary evil, a guiding hand to ensure that every ounce of tension, of heartbreak, of glorious victory, is squeezed out of every fight worth its salt. Things like the truth and sportsmanship are good and all, but they are ingredients (bland ones at that) that cannot stand on their own. The world craves sensationalism, editorialized narratives, stories crafted to evoke the most primal elements of the human condition. The truth on the other hand...

The truth is boring. The truth in combat sports generally boils down to two people fighting for money, and that won't stand and that won't sell in a way that matters.

Or maybe the actual truth is that everything written before this point is bullshit. Maybe the actual truth is that she's a chronically bored sociopath who has carved up a little piece of the world where she can play god all she wants. Maybe they're both the truth. Maybe neither of them are. Aicee herself isn't telling. She will lie, cheat, steal, act, kidnap, and intimidate for a better show, and all the skills that once made her one of the rising stars in international journalism during her youth have now been blackened, twisted into the success of one of the biggest niche tabloid mega podcasts in the world.

Where once she delivered the news, now she makes it. Where once she sought information, now it comes right to her. As far as she's concerned, she's at a much better place in the world, and she ain't ever going to stop.

Appearance: Aicee's signature outfit on her shows is the same damn suit and tie each time, with a randomized splash of blood splattering her clothes. Sometimes all over. Sometimes barely discenerable. Now some say the blood was added digitally. Well, if it was, it's very life-like...

If you dropped the name Aicee Everthang to any professional journalist, they would all answer similarly that she was a bright, rising investigative war journalist in the 2010's who feared nothing and would have probably been in the running for a Nobel peace prize by this point. Where their answers would differ is why she suddenly left a dignified, proper career to go start some dingy fight podcast far beneath her. Some would say she did it for the money, others would say that the horrors of war drove her to something a little less intense, a little different to forget what she saw. Regardless of the reason, Aicee Everthang left the deserts and the battlefields and all the crap behind at the age of 25, and embarked on a project on a woefully underappreciated segment of combat athleticism and spawned one of the biggest blights of misinformation in the modern world.



Fun Facts:

- If Aicee Everthang isn't her real name, she's gone to extensive efforts to retroactively fit it in. The name itself dates as far back as her high school yearbook but all surviving copies have her yearbook photo replaced with jagged, gouged-in text that says "Ye guilty"

- She can speak English, French, too many middle eastern languages, Russian, but not a whiff of Japanese.

- She really likes Jurassic park. She has brought up, quite frequently, that the T-rex killing the last Velociraptor was her sexual awakening and the actual foundation of female combat sports. Often unprompted. It honestly seems like a sincere admission.

- The only time the Forever War 555 closes is on the last week of the year. She claims it's for her annual mourning of Saddam Hussein, one of the great loves of her life. Another outlandish lie maybe... but why do the military radars at Camp Justice pick up a weird black coat-shaped smudge every year at the same time?

- Is a devout catholic. According to her, of course. The Vatican has since responded with a very public ex-communication.

- No one knows where Aicee is broadcasting from, but it's definitely not North Korea. Her Wifi's too consistent.

- Aicee is a certified AFW referee. She's never attended a damn referee course in her life, but she has the certification all the same.

- Aicee had won 3 Emmy awards for her work on "Run, Run, Run, Little Bitches", a satirical news package piece on the US withdrawal of iraq. She has since donated her 3 Emmies into the garbage bin with a surprising lack of further comment from someone who won't ever shut up about anything.

- The last documentary piece she made before leaving for the podcast "Revisiting Vietnam: What we could have bombed better" did not receive an Emmy nomination.

- Aicee is the shadow owner of too-many independent combat sports publications. And when she wants a viewpoint out, she will go all in on them.
