Best inventions come at twilight - Akiko Hoshi vs (D) Amber Addison

For her debut match Amber couldn’t have asked for a greater challenge. Akiko was witty and quick in reflexes and moves, pushing the Inventor against the limits of her abilities just to stay alive in that match. It was a fair challenge though as it was clear that the ninja was actually having to use a fair amount of her own strength to keep her streak of attacks going.

At that moment, Amber’s main concern was preventing her rival from locking a submission move. It looked like the ninja had quite the knowledge and skill surrounding those kind of moves and Amber didn’t like the idea of getting into one of them in the receiving end at all. That was why she kept jerking her body like crazy, spending a great amount of her strength but being a hassle for Akiko who still tried to drag her to the center of the ring.

In the end, the ninja fed up with Amber’s struggle and decided to go for an ankle lock there and now. “W-waaaagh!” Amber felt a burning sensation on her ankle as her leg and foot were bent in an unnatural way, jolts of pain coursing her leg. It made her body feel weak and heavy as well, making it hard for her to keep going with her struggle. Crying in pain at the torture, Amber clawed at the mat as she tried to drag her body towards the ropes, seeing her only salvation in that rope which looked so close and yet so far...

Amber’s situation wasn’t promising at all. The debutant had gotten herself in a dire moment as it looked so complicated and difficult to escape from Akiko’s grasp. The Inventor fought with claws and teeth in order to prevent her rival from moving her to a centered position in the ring where she could have locked a match finishing submission move and that was a silver lining. Instead, the shinobe settlef for an ankle lock that wasn’t a pushover movement at all.

The Inventor cried in despair as a jolt of pain coursed through all her leg. Her ankle and calf muscles were hurting like hell, and she wasn’t sure of being able to force herself out of the hold. Gritting her teeth and denying with her head in response to her rival's words, Amber endured some more seconds of pain that felt like an eternity. Then she noticed something: between all the sounds coming from the arena something made its way to her brain. Cheering. Some people in the stands were actually cheering for her, trying to give her a push towards an escape. She couldn’t fail them!

Just when everything looked lost for Amber, the woman found new resolution in those supporters who believed in her! Pushing with her elbows she desperatedly tried to get a crawl that would make her closer to the ropes going. Each centimeter she gained was paid with terrible pain coming from her leg, but the surrender that looked so plausible before was completely out of her book. Finally, with a groan of strain and frustration Amber’s fingers wrapped around the lower rope. “G-aaaaaah!!! Ref, rope!!!”, she pleaded to the referee to put an end to that torture, a tear forming in the corner of her eye.

To be honest, Akiko was throwing each of her moves flawlessly. The ninja wasn’t pulling any punches and was showing how she was a force to truly reckon, and Amber was paying a heavy price anytime she got caught in one of the woman’s moves. That nasty ankle submission move had been the worst so far as it caused severe pain to Amber’s leg. It was becoming unbearable and more than once the Inventor thought of tapping out and accepting defeat, but hearing the crowd roar and cheer for her to escape invigorated her with new resolve.

Luckily for Amber, the woman found enough strength in her to crawl to the ropes and achieve a rope break. The very instant the ref called for it Akiko released the Inventor’s ankle and backed down. In that act of sportswomanship the shinobi showed how she had a high sense of honor. She fought hard but also fair, and maybe because of that Amber was feeling so happy even while she felt down and battered at the time.

Clenching her teeth to endure the pain, Amber got to her feet. Her leg was still in severe pain from what was a definitely powerful submission hold that could have ended the match, and a slight limp on Amber’s movements hinted how far the damage had gone, but the Inventor wasn’t going to go down without fighting back. She would use her pained leg the least so it wouldn’t become a hindrance to her chances. She would decide to play Akiko’s game in throwing quick strikes. Slowly advancing towards the shinobi, Amber would suddenly lunge forwards aiming to hit her rival in the midsection with her elbow. She needed Akiko in pain and dazed and that was a proper first try at that.

Amber was observant enough to notice how her rival was assessing the damage she had sustained on her ankle. Akiko was thoroughly gazing to notice any weakness coming from her, and even if her limp showed that she was actually in pain and her leg wasn’t at full force, the Inventor had decided to catch her rival off guard with something she wouldn’t expect.

The Inventor’s lunge forwards made that strategy bear fruit as it could be one of the last things the shinobi could be expecting. When Akiko dropped on her knees while clutching her stomach Amber knew that was her chance. It had costed her a lot taking her rival down and stopping her quick paced attacks, so the Inventor knew she had to do something with enough impact to even the match and tip the scales in her favor.

Amber settled for something that wasn’t in her usual book of moves since she was used to fight bigger girls, but given Akiko’s size it wouldn’t be that hard for her. The Inventor would get a grip at her rival’s scalp and position her so she would execute a snap mare, but things wouldn’t end there because instead of letting that low impact move be the end of it Amber wouldn’t let Akiko go and would keep getting her on her feet and going with a series of snap mare moves! One, two, three and four time she would make her move and throw Akiko against the mat to the crowd’s delight. After the fourth snap mare Amber was feeling out of breath so she let her rival go while she would support herself with her hands on her knees, observing the results of her work.

Amber was still holding herself against her knees, huffing and puffing as she tried to regain her breath. A part of her was amazed by her last chain of moves, feeling as if something had taken over her. The Inventor knew she needed something with more impact to tip the scales, but then her fighting instincts took over and the next moment she was throwing her rival four times against the mat. Her father had told her about that feeling in the middle of a fight when one is so focused it is as if time stopped for some moments, but she had never experienced it until now.

Amber’s onslaught of throws had paid off well as Akiko was just sprayed on the mat with a dazed, almost absent look on her face. She looked in a dire struggle to compose herself, but her only moves were small writhing ones. For just an instant Amber remained there looking at the fruit of her moves but then the cheers and noise coming from the stands snapped her out of her distracted state.

The wrestling world’s narrative dictated that Amber should do something shiny before finishing things, but as things were and no matter how hard the Inventor wanted to test some of her high flying finisher moves there was no way she was going to be able to execute those demanding moves with her limp. In the end everyone would have to settle with that rush of throws she did, which were spectacular on their own way. “This is it!” Deciding not to let that window of opportunity fade Amber got on the mat and hooked one of Akiko’s legs while securing the woman in a pinning maneuver. The Inventor was feeling battered and exhausted, but also resolved to endure the count and get the win.

“ONE!”

Akiko barely stirred as the first count was given, her mind was still in too much in a haze from all those throws to make an effort to fight back. She could feel Amber's weight pressing down on her body, a leg hooked and raised off the mat, but the most she could manage was groaning and slight movement. The throws had done their work in wearing down her body. All she could make out were the lights above and the tap against the mat as Amber laid atop her.
