Eka Guramishvili vs. Evelyn Evans

Eka was quick, methodical. A lot of women who were really into submissions also enjoyed the darker side of wrestling, giving in to their desires to make the other women suffer. The Georgian girl did not find any joy in inflicting pain on anyone. What Eka did delight in was the thrill of victory, and she simply found submission moves to be the easiest way of accomplishing that particular feat. So Eka went through with the move snappily and without much circumstance. The Georgian girl wanted this move to be in nice and tight, not due to the fact that she could cause a lot of suffering but because she wanted to drain her opponent of her energy.

Evelyn, as she proved, still had a lot of energy left to give Eka. She bucked off wildly. The Georgian girl was terribly off balance, and the first time that Evelyn moved Eka lost her grip. The second jump caused Eka to abandon the hold entirely, such was the strength with which it came. Eka was a few feet away now. For a second, she paused, and considered her options. The youth in her wanted to surge forward and attack Evelyn relentlessly.

The experience in her held off. Eka rolled away and stood up. The reason that she went for submissions all the time was the fact that she played the long game, and wore her opponents down. There was no sense in charging in and going for the kill right now.

There was something about Eka that puzzled Evelyn the most. All along her previous career in indie wrestling and in her short but intense months in the AFW she had found very different kind of rivals. Some of them had similar personalities to hers, some of them were talkative and friendly, some others were bitter and dirty players but Eka was in a quite complicated position for the redhead. The woman wasn’t unfriendly per se, but something in the way she talked, she moved signaled that for her her rival was nothing more than an obstacle in order to get a victory. Evelyn liked her rivals meaning something to her, but that didn’t seem the case for the Georgian. Even the way she applied the submission hold on Evelyn felt impersonal. For the British it was so hard to understand because she was all about character and cheerfulness.

But not now. No one would have a good mood while subjected to some perfectly executed submission move like the one Eka locked. Luckily for the British she managed to break the hold and free herself, but not without sustainins some damage that would drain some of her now precious strength.

Just when Evelyn was at her lowest Eka restrained herself. Instead of going for the kill she waited to see what the redhead would do. That showed the Georgian’s caution when approaching this. She was definitely a more than worthy rival. Evelyn was getting tired, so tired she was starting to become confused about what kind of path to take in that match. She would go for maybe not the smartest of choices, but one that would change the pace of the match for good. After trying a couple of feints to distract Eka Evelyn would use her flexibility to try and catch her with a powerful axe kick, with the intentions of stopping her rival’s streak suddenly.

Eka watched as Evelyn got up. Both of them were quite beautiful. Eka's skin was shimmering with sweat, earned over the course of the bout so far. The Georgian girl was sure that this was not the only sweat that would be on her body for the rest of the night, but she wanted it to be the good sweat of a well wrestled match as opposed to the bad sweat of a young girl in panic. As she saw the redhead approaching, she perked up. Eka was waiting for her opportunity to strike.

That opportunity would have to be earned, and not given. When Evelyn feinted this way, Eka dodged that way. When Evelyn went that way, Eka went this way. They were playing a cat and mouse game, and the longer it went on, the more Eka felt like the mouse. She knew that there was going to be something big somewhere along the way, but she would have to pick the right spot and make the most of it.

Then the kick came down. Deftly, Eka darted to the side. Both her arms went up to catch Evelyn's leg, and her other foot planted behind Evelyn's foot. She turned. The apple picker takedown was one she rarely got to use back in the day, but now she was going for it full force here. She was trying to dump her right on her butt, and then explore from there.

Evelyn managed to smile to herself in between all the exertion. This was what she was about, the thing she loved out of wrestling. Going back and forth in exciting competition, not having a clear outcome in mind since any woman could win but with the feeling that no matter what happened she gave the best she got.


For the moment as Evelyn threw different strikes in order to make her rival break a sweat and feel threatened the redhead noticed how in this exchange it looked like she had the upper hand. She was feeling comfortable because even if the Georgian was managing to avoid her strikes it was visibly taking a toll on her as Lyn could notice Eka’s body pearled with sweat and her breathing going heavier. Evelyn knew her chance for a really powerful attack was at hand, and that was the moment she launched her axe kick.

Red loved the axe kick. It was a very flashy move that made use of the attacker’s flexibility, something Evelyn had to share, and used it in a way that gets a very powerful hit on the rival. It was spectacular and powerful and Evelyn really liked favoring that move. It also was easy to predict and avoid if the rival wasn’t dazed enough. As Evelyn’s leg started going down it didn’t connect with Eka’s body but with her crossed arms instead. The Georgian had a grip on Lyn’s ankle as she moved her leg behing Evelyn’s remaining foot and applied some pressure to make the redhead’s own weight take her down! Evelyn gasped and her eyes went wide as she realized how Eka had managed to make the most out of a complicated situation, the redhead’s butt and back impacting with the mat in a not painful way, but leaving her exposed to any kind of retaliation.

Eka was impressed with herself. Not because of how complex the takedown was, as she picked that up in one of the first few practices she had, but because she was able to pull it out of her back pocket when it seemed that hope might be fading. All of those hours that her dad made her spend shooting for single legs in the backyard paid off in a big and crucial way, as she now had the impetus to act.

While the takedown effectively rendered her opponent to the ground, she knew that it didn't really hurt that much. So if the Georgian girl wanted to continue dominating, she was going to have to act quickly. Eka rolled her opponent over and flung herself onto Evelyn's back. That particular splash was not going to cause a lot of damage, which was fine, because that was not really what she was going for.

Eka showed her intent when she grabbed at Evelyn's arms, and leaned back. She was going for a surfboard hold. It was a grinding hold that would wear her opponent down, she hoped. The Georgian girl knew holds that were far more intricate, but she could not deny that this one hurt.

Still from the ground Evelyn wondered about how Eka had managed top turn the tide in her favor. Just where did that takedown come from? It had been an amazing display of inventiveness and lateral thinking applied to wrestling. The Georgian had searched for a solution to her predicament the British couldn’t have predicted. That is why the redhead could do nothing to prevent Eka from grabbing her leg and tossing her like a ragdoll. The Georgian had some strength to her, she had to admit.

But Eka had also proven to be a cunning strategist. Where another wrestler would have let the momentum die and the positions reset the Georgian kept going with her tactics aimed at draining Evelyn’s stamina and make her weak. Eka rolled her rival over and splashed on her back. The movement wasn’t very painful per se, but added to the continuous treatment the British had taken it was starting to take its toll on her body.

That was the moment the Georgian used to continue doing what she did best: submission holds. Eka had proven at that point that she was really good at it, and now she was just going to prove it once more by locking Evelyn in a surfboard hold. The redhead kicked against the mat as she cried in pain. Her rival was smart enough to apply pressure on her shoulders and neck because her legs were quite flexible based on her gymnast background, but nothing could help her against the surfboard hold. Fearing from the outcome of the hold ifd it lasted long Evelyn thrashed as much as she could while kicking aimlessly, the pain starting to get difficult to bear.

Eka had the move sunk in deeply now. The Georgian girl was ready to sit pretty and ride this hold out. An inkling of doubt crept through her mind, one that suggested that Evelyn was not going to tap to this. It was one that faded once she started kicking the mat, which bolstered the Georgian girl's mood. Sensing an opponent was in pain was never that much fun for Eka, but she knew that it got her that little bit closer to winning the match.

That was, until it didn't. Evelyn was bucking wildly now. The Georgian girl was pretty strong, but far from the strongest woman in this federation. She found herself off balance, and barely able to hang on. All the strength in her arm was not enough to make sure that she was stable on top of her opponent. She meant for the hold to wear her opponent down over time, but she knew that she could maintain the hold no longer when she was sent toppling off her opponent.

She managed the roll pretty well, at least. The ravenhaired girl popped up a few feet away from her opponent, and braced herself. Her hands were out, ready to accept whatever was coming her way. She felt that she had gotten the most of the past exchange but only by the skin of her teeth. The Georgian girl was going to have to be on high alert if she wanted to stay on top.

Frustration was starting to sink deep in Evelyn’s mind now. No matter what kind of approach she tried for the match, her rival always looked ready for it and quickly outsmarted the redhead. When striking, Eka managed to dodge and counter the moves and when subjected to submissions the Georgian showed her prowess and skill, bending the insanely flexible Evelyn to a point even she was starting to doubt her chances. Red was quite proud of how she was able to endure being bent to the limit, but this treatment she was getting from the expert submissionist was just too much. Her groans of pain became cries, and when she thought it was all over she used all her pain and frustration to fuel her thrashing.

It worked. In time Eka found too difficult to maintain the hold and eventually Evelyn managed to topple her rival. Eka wouldn’t remain much time on the ground as the Georgian had enough time to recover as Evelyn was still lying on the ground kicking in pain, trying to make her body move again. She punched the mat, frustrated at her weakness, even if she knew it wasn't that, only she had met a very powerful rival capable making an art out of submission wrestling.

Eka appraised the situation quickly. Lingering for any period of time in a submission hold was torture, and the Georgian girl had slapped on more than a few over the course of the evening. The pain must have glued Evelyn to the mat. She was not some woman who would delight in the fact that her opponent was hurt, but she was well aware that she could swoop in for the kill. She took a running start forward and threw herself down on top of her opponent. Someone who was better at flying through the air would have added some special twist, some special effect to make it hurt that little bit more, but the Georgian girl was happy to find herself on top of her opponent.

She brought her arm down around Evelyn's head and then got her other arm to Evelyn's throat. An Ezekiel choke couldn't last that long according to the rules of wrestling, only a mere five seconds, but the Georgian girl was going to try and wear her opponent out for long enough that she could go for something really big. The dark-haired girl was focusing hard, her blue eyes never wavering once from her opponent.

Evelyn was getting quite exhausted fast. At first she managed to endure whatever her rival had in store for her, but as the match kept going and the Georgian kept going with strike after strike and more importantly submission hold after submission hold it was getting clear that Evelyn’s rival for that match was a remarkable wrestler, even on par if not superior to her based on how she had been all the time one step behind Eka.

But even in how relentless Eka looked when strategizing and trying to force a submission out of Evelyn, there was no disdain or bad intentions on how she executed her holds. Of course there was pain since it was the point to make Evelyn not be able to withstand until she gave up, but she could feel that Eka executed them with cold efficiency, not basking in her rival’s suffering but using it as a means to reach an end.

When Eka locked her arms around Evelyn’s throat the British panicked. One thing was resisting limb submissions, she was good at that, but no one could overcome oxygen deprivation. Evelyn’s face became red as she started feeling the effects of the lack of air. Desperate, she tried to undo Eka’s lock while she still had some energy to move.
