Re: [Standard Match] Hawk Moth vs The Black Fang - Motivation And Respect
Karen closed her eyes as the referee's hand went up a second time. All she could do now was breathe and pray. She needed to breathe in order to remain conscious. And she needed to pray so that her rival would not find the strength in herself to the pin. Karen was the most down-to-earth person and she was perfectly aware that if Ryoko broke the pin, then she simply would not be able to continue the match, she simply had no strength left.
“Stay down… please…” thought the Hawk Moth.
"TWO!"
Now the Japanese girl held her breath. She had no idea what exactly was her rival's attitude to this match. But today the street fighter received just unforgettable emotions. Thanks to the Black Fang, she remembered the passion for which she long ago began to fight. Not because her fists were the only way to make money. But because she loved that incredible adrenaline rush during the fight. Just one second left.
"THREE!!!"
Ding-Ding-Ding.
Karen exhaled loudly, letting go of her rival's leg. It was all over. The audience screamed as they rose from their seats, while Karen just rolled off Ryoko's body, lying down next to her and gasping for air. Damn it, she couldn't remember the last time she felt her body so beaten. And she couldn't remember the last time victory was as sweet to her as it was now.
The Hawk Moth smiled involuntarily, finally realizing that she had won this grueling match. And then she heard the Black Fang's words after a heavy sigh. The girl turned her head, looking her rival in the eyes. There was no doubt that she was upset, even if she didn't show it. This match was so close that just one movement separated Karen from a completely different result. She could have been in Ryoko's place. But today she turned out to be stronger and she had nothing to ask for forgiveness and nothing to regret. However, she still had words that she wanted to say.
“Possibly the best in my life for now,” she said in a hoarse voice.
The referee girl came up to her and handed Karen her phone. Precisely, in a fit of passion, she completely forgot about it. After her debut, many remembered her habit of taking a joint photo with a defeated rival. But today she did not want to put her foot on her rival or something for the sake of a old tradition. Karen wearily raised her hand and took her phone.
"Selfie?" she asked her rival, smiling weakly and tiredly.
“Stay down… please…” thought the Hawk Moth.

Re: [Standard Match] Hawk Moth vs The Black Fang - Motivation And Respect
‘Three’. Simultaneously Ryoko’s favorite and least favorite number.
The moment she heard it, a wave of euphoria washed over her, her body coming down from the high she had built up in an instant. It wasn’t an easy thing to slip out of warrior mode like that, but she had been taught to make it essential, to let everything go when the fight was over. Win or lose, it had to stop when the bell rang, and that was the thought that kept ringing in the back of her head.
She wanted to forget, to chalk it up to a minute thing, but it wasn’t simple. Losing wasn’t new to her, she’d done it more than she won since she came to the AFW. But that margin, so close she could feel it, was enough to grate and leave her blood boiling. She knew she shouldn’t have been mad, that she did her best, but knowing and feeling a truth could be wildly different things.
”Next time.” She grumbled as she sat up. ”Next time.”
For now, she was ready to close this out, hit the showers, and head home for a long, hard sleep in her bed. Her former opponent had other ideas, though.
”Really? Your hardest match?” As much as she didn’t want to smile like a goofy idiot at that complement, she knew she probably was, in fact, smiling like a goofy idiot. It was high praise, the sort of thing she never expected to hear after a match. Nor was she expecting to get offered a selfie from a woman who she had just been trying to beat black and blue only a few moments ago.
But she wasn’t against it. ”Sure.”
Pushing up on her leg, Ryoko made her way over to Hawk Moth and stood beside her. She brought her arm up and leaned on her shoulder, looking between her and the camera to make sure the pose was right.

Re: [Standard Match] Hawk Moth vs The Black Fang - Motivation And Respect
“Sometimes a match is more than trying to knock the shit out of an opponent,” the Hawk Moth said as she rose to her feet, “today you reminded me of that, so our match means a lot more to me than you think.”
And it really was true. Although Karen had no right to complain about her life, there were many people who felt much worse. But she also had problems. The problems that led her to a very powerful cycle of fighting and alcohol. Everyone lives the way they can, but sometimes circumstances were something that a person could not cope with. First you try to resist, but then you just get used to it.
A time ago used to fight because she just liked it. At first it was just a desire to get adrenaline by showing all her skills. But then it just turned into something that became for her nothing more than a way of earning money. And today, having met the Black Fang, who fought so selflessly and passionately, Karen again felt that wonderful feeling of enjoying the match.
Karen was glad that Ryoko agreed to a joint photo, for Karen it was a signal that there were no hard feelings between them. And that meant a lot to the street fighter. She did not want to become an enemy for the person to whom she was imbued with sincere respect during this match. The Hawk Moth smiled broadly as the brunette got to her feet and leaned on Karen's shoulder, choosing a pose for the photo.
The street fighter thought for a moment, and then her smile widened a little. She pressed the screen once to focus the camera, and then turned her head to the side, barely touching her lips to the cheek of another Japanese girl. Loud shouts and applause from the audience completely drowned out the click of the camera. But the photo turned out great, it will take its rightful place on the wall of victories and defeats of the Hawk Moth. The girl took a step to the side, turning towards Ryoko, her smile becoming slightly embarrassed, although there was nothing too out of place in this gesture, she did not want Ryoko to take it in any way wrong. Karen held out her hand for a handshake.
"I hope to meet you in the ring again, Black Fang!" she said.
