Gaining Momentum - Camilia Espinoza vs. Mako 'The Shark' Adachi

Camilia rolls her shoulders, it had been quite some time since she had boxed but her body remembered the rigorous training that she endured day in and day out. She threw a mock punch as she waited for her cue, the sudden rush of wind blowing her past her frame as the glove connected with nothing but air. She could sense the power was there but how would she do tonight? Would she manage to continue through the tournament or would this be her first flop? Even if she didn’t win in the end this match at least she wanted and she wanted it badly.

Tonight’s attire was a bit different, her black sports bra and blue boxing shorts with the red gloves, oh the memories were just flooding into her mind as she desperately waited for things to get rolling. Camilia lightly bounces on her feet continuing to loosen herself up in preparation for her fight, she couldn’t exactly tell you if she was nervous or just anxious but whatever it was needed to get in gear.

The sudden boom of the guitar over the speakers brought the attention she needed, before the music could settle in, the Latina breaks through the curtains. The crowd roars in her favor as she makes her way down, she pops her gloves together, a sort of gimmick to keep her head on straight, the butterflies in her stomach began to float and flap their wings, testing her limits for now.

Climbing into the ring she immodestly went to her corner, no need for theatrics when she had a match to bear in mind, it demanded her full focus and it’d have it. Her opponent wouldn’t be far behind, the Latina thinks her strategy through. Going all out wouldn’t work, especially if they threw up their guard, so powering through was out of the question, secondly there was their expirence to consider too. Just how much did they know? She could tell that this was going to be a rough first match.

Mako was hyped for tonight. She was gonna get back in the ring with her new pal Camilia and have a kick boxing match with her. The shark had high expectations, all of which centered around an intense bout between them. Their first ended more or less as a draw, but tonight there would only be one woman coming out on top, So after putting on her black legs guards, gloves, and the rest of her attire, Mako would walk out of the locker area and head towards the ring. While she walked through the halls the young woman would throw on her black hooded robe. She hadn't worn a robe for an entrance in a while, but wearing one seemed to fit the boxing theme pretty well.

Appearance:

Mako's music would blast throughout the arena as she walked out from the entrance. Bouncing on the balls of her feet at the top of the ramp, the shark would soak in the cheers from the audience before making her way down the ramp. Then as she reached the ring, Mako would climb up the apron before stepping through the ropes. By now she could see Camilia just fine, and the Latina looked as tough as ever.

Mako would take off her robe soon after getting in her corner. She'd then place it on the top rope before it was moved by a stage hand moments after. The shark would then nod at her opponent to say hello before cracking her neck to each side. She had a good feeling about tonight, so Mako didn't seem nervous at all. All she felt was excitement.

"Hey Toro! Did you think of any cheesy taunts about how I'm gonna get the horns?" she'd laugh before punching her gloves together somewhat eagerly. "I came up with...You're about to go sleeping with the fishes! ...Ok not my best taunt, but hey, you get the idea." Mako would say while pointing her glove at Camilia to seem intimidating, but then she'd shrug while admitting it wasn't her attempt at trash talking.

Oh the shark, she recalled her last encounter with them and although pleasant she’d have to pull out all the stops if she wanted to have any real fun with. She grins as she pops her gloves together, of course she’d make some crappy jab but she did have a taint to share. ”Please, I’m not that generic. I was going to say get ready for the stampede.”

Mako could’ve done better but Camilia felt it was decent enough. She raises her arms, her knees bend in as her body gets low. The bulls guard set and ready for action, she was ready, ready to take this woman down and ready to bring on the pain. The Latina might feel sorry after this but she had to do what she had to, anything to achieve her goal. For now, Mako was a stepping stone, one she adored and saw as a friend but not here, not now.

"Hehe...okay...that's a pretty good one." Mako laughed a bit as her opponent explained what she was about to say. Honestly, the stampede thing was way more clever than what the shark had said. "Well played, Camilia...Well played..." she thought to herself. The time for talk was over, though, as the bell would ring and the two women approached each other.

"Good luck 'chica'...you're gonna need it." she said with a fierce grin on her face. Like Camilia, Mako had raised her arms up to guard from any incoming attacks. However, she wasn't going low like her opponent. The shark wanted to stay light on her feet so that she could send out a swift kick at any moment. Mako wouldn't hold back at all, tonight. Despite thinking of Camilia as a good friend, the shark had no qualms about punching a friends face. It was kinda odd, but she expected her friends to act the same way with her. This was a fight, after all, and Mako wanted the very best from every opponent.

So after a few moments of looking over her opponent and judging her defenses, Mako would start things off by turning quickly to send a low kick to the side of Camilia's leg. This didn't have more power behind it than a jab would, though. This strike was just for testing her opponent's reflexes and reactions.

Camilia was fully prepared to bring the hurt to her friend, she could never think of holding back in a matc she wouldn’t start now. Her laugh definitely set in a different mood as did her compliment but now wasn’t the time to be thinking about that or anything besides her fists/kicks pummeling her opponent.

With the sound of the bell, the Latina spring into s light switching jump-in-love position. This acted to give her a sense of rhythm before she fought and set herself in motion before Mako had any bright ideas. She growled with aggression and friendly competition st their warning ”Don’t worry about me, Mako. Te haré comer el lienzo pronto.“ she says with a grin.

Of course no amount of preparedness could have anyone account for their opponents thinking, the low kick came as a surprise and forced the bull to retreat. It didn’t hurt but still she couldn’t be too cautious. Camilia switches the stance of her guard, her shoulders loose, her back bent slightly in but still straight. In that moment, she’d step forward, pivoting her left foot forward before throwing a heavy jab at her opponents gaurs. If they were going to test the waters than so would she.

"I don't know what that means..." the shark would say after landing the low kick. "Do you mind filling me in? I can't taunt back if I don't know what the taunt was..."

Mako then watched Camilia's movements carefully as she retreated. It seemed like her kick had surprised the woman, maybe because it was odd that the shark was only testing the waters instead of diving right in. Mako would keep holding back, though, instead of attacking again. She would play it safe for now, and focus on her guard to see what Camilia did next.

El toro took this chance to throw a heavy jab at the shark's guard. Mako blocked the strike with her arms, but she could tell this wasn't Camilia's best either. It seemed the latina was testing out her opponent's defenses, as well. So Mako responded by trying to clinch up with the woman. That way she could quickly lift her leg up, and attempt to drive her knee into Camilia's midsection with a loud "HAAAH!". This strike would have much more force than her love tap of a kick, and Mako hoped it would knock some wind out of her opponent's lungs.

Camilia only smirked to Mako’s plea for a translation, she wasn’t planning on revealing that to her, if anything Mako should learn Spanish if she was so interested. Of course her jab didn’t break their guard, the other woman was as sturdy as her but she held the advantage right? She was capable of overpowering her, right?

It didn’t take an amateur to understand what Mako had planned. Her guard was ready and she stepped in,’is she going for another kick or a feint?’ She wondered, to her surprise, it’s be neither, with their bodies locked together, Camilia wastes no time in moving to keep Mako on her toes. Even in a clinch your opponent could pull something nasty and the bull wasn’t keen on giving the shark that chance.

Mako thought she had Camilia after locking her in the clinch. Her knee was ready to drive into the woman's midsection and knock the wind out of her. Sadly, the bull was quick enough to realize her opponent's target, and moved back outside of the shark's reach.

Groaning out from missing the woman's abs, Mako would simply move back and regroup. She didn't want to get dropped from charging in stupidly, after all. So with her fists raised, the shark would watch Camilia's moments intensely. Eyes glued on the woman for any signs of an opening that she could exploit. Her mind was focused solely on the match, besides a few thoughts about the woman's unknown taunt which Camilia refused to translate for her.

Mako was going to hold that against the stubborn bull for sure.
