Domain Name part 2 (EVERYONE READ)

Hi everyone,
wanted to make this in a new thread so that everyone will read it as a new subject. Our domain name has been renewed for another year, but in a years time we will have the same problem again (I doubt that we will get any more free renewals, so we will either have to pay for an extension or lose the afwrpg.com address). I wanted to check with everyone what they felt we should do...

1. We can resolve to pay for an extension each year.

it is approximately 22 US dollars to extend it for a year and there is no way to pay anonymously. We have also been locked out of having a donations button because of some terms and conditions Paypal have enforced on forumotion, meaning that I'd have to get one member to make the payment rather than just leave a button for people to contribute as and when they feel like it.


2. We can use the year brought for us and start making plans to move onto the default domain name.

The content on the site will still remain even if we allow the domain name to expire... What will happen however is that instead of having the web address: afwrpg.com , we would go by the web address: afwrpg.forumotion.com ... Any links that we have on the board (eg. links to character's bios from a blog page, or link to characters matches from their bios), would then become broken and would need to be edited to point to the correct location.

Microsoft word (if you have it) can be used to edit posts that have numerous links... It would just be a case of clicking edit on the post, copying all of the content onto word and then using the Replace all function to change "afwrpg.com" to "afwrpg.forumotion.com". But I understand there are several threads with links back and forth on this board.



So, what does everyone think we should do when given these two options?

I vote option 1. I understand money is money, but...twenty bucks a year isn't that much for a year, especially for a place where so many of us devout our time and effort. I don't even have a problem giving the money myself, next time it comes around.

I'm pretty sure some of us don't care for privacy, and as both Tai and Acuya said. 20 a year is honestly nothing, that's a good deal. So I vote for option 1.

Option 1 as well. I don't mind spending some money myself for this site (I don't mind much because it's only once a year stuff).

I think if people are willing to pay we should go with option one. But I'm also not against simply fixing links. So My opinion shouldn't matter much... XD

I already spend money relating to board with all the custom characters I make, so spending an extra 20 a year on the domain name isn't an issue for me.

In this case, I'd say take the easy way out.

The domain name died...
