Nikolette Tessla Vs. Satomi Hakase

The crunchy guitars of 'Calculating Infinite' signaled the appearance of Nikolette. The aloof inventor was on time to this match but still seemed dishelved, looking like she had just barely beat the clock. Her dirty brown overalls had one button hanging loose, exposing a wrinkled white shirt with a big black handprint smudged down her breast. A wrench clanked in her back pocket and her goggles were crooked over her face. With a friendly wave she looked at the crowd and smiled cheerfully. She was really excited to have this match.

She climbed into the ring and thought about her opponent. She had looked at the file (Something she did even for those who wouldn't be her opponent) and it seemed like Satomi was another person much like herself. That would really make things interestign to find another genius in the AFW. Though she didn't think most people that met Nikolette thought she was anything more than an airhead. She waved tot he crowd again and bounced in her heels and was suddenly stopped by the ref who once again warned her about the wrench.

"Oh geeze! I'm so sorry, dang thing musta hid in there, er maybe I got a magnetic butt!" She chuckled tossing the wrench aside.

And so, her second match in this league was going to begin. Most of the time, when a rookie finished their first match, they were more than excited about no longer being 'fresh meat', and could jump into the match with all they had. But, for a certain scientist, that wasn't the case today. Ever since her first match and how horribly humiliated she had been in the ring, it was nearly impossible to bounce back.

Satomi Hakase was on her way to the ring at this moment, the unique riffs of "Colors of the World" being played as she stepped down the ramp, but for the once optimistic and cheerful scientist had certainly taken a change. Her attire was the same; a short red skirt with stripes, a red vest tucked into it, a long, white lab coat over it all along with white gloves, and brown petty shoes and long black socks. She was certainly an adorable looking scientist, especially with her black pigtails that reached her shouldesr and the large, coke-bottle glasses, but there was one thing off about her; she had a dark scowl like she really hated the world around her right now.

Satomi's profile showed how she was eccentric, but certainly a gentle-hearted scientist. But as she stepped down the ring, her hands folded in front of her without paying attention to a single member of the crowd, she didn't seem to even crack a smile, just stepping down to the ring and heaving a long sigh. It was like she didn't even want to be here now.

Stepping between the ropes, Satomi just quarked a single black brow when she eyed her opponent, hardly taking notice of who she was or how they had such similiar hobbies. Instead, right now, Satomi was just a broken down individual who wanted to get this over with.

Nikolette watched as the entrance music changed and Satomi came down the ramp. Well she seemed just as out of place as Nikolette did. The young inventor looked like she should be in a scrapyard with a welding machine digging through a pile of rusted metal and here Satomi seemed different, yet the same. Maybe she would be more comfortable in a laboratory, looking through a microscope.

Eitherway, Nikolette put a cheerful smile, expecting to greet Satomi but instead she found that the girl seemed distracted at best. This wasn't any way to start a match. She looked over to the ref and held up her hand. "Hey, before ya ring that bell, let me have a moment, will ya?" She said and marched to the center of the ring.

She lifted up her goggles and eyed Satomi. "Oi! Maybe ya got that look on yer face cause ya ain't in the lab er somethin..." She barked out the words in a friendly yet teasing tone. "...but ya can't just mope around when ya gotta match, ya know!"

When the bell didn't ring just yet, it didn't seem to bother Satomi all too much. It was almost like she had already expected it to have rung, and just thought she didn't hear it. Either way, the enthuisiasm for this match didn't even seem to exist, as she just let out a slow sigh, only to notice the brown haired inventor begin approaching her. For now, Satomi didn't take in the girl's appearance all to much, but if she did, she would have admitted that the girl was awfully cute, and her first thought would have normally been trying to forge a friendship with this girl. But instead, Satomi started to tense up, ready to strike up to her stance, expecting Nikolette to sucker punch her.

Instead, before Satomi even raised her hands, the young inventor had spoken, and it actually surprised Satomi just a little, putting her a bit off guard more than anything. "...You wouldn't understand. It has nothing to do with that." Satomi said dryly, avoiding eye contact with the girl as she blinked slowly, heaving a slow sigh. Her voice was undeniably cute, and rather soft for a girl like herself. But it would have been a lot better if she had that usual energy and optimism ringing in her words, instead replaced by what could only be described as a pit of sadness and disheartened spirit.

Nikolette frowned at Satomi's words. "Well..." She said, taken aback slightly. Her pause didn't last long as she perked up, puffing out her chest. She tossed away her goggles and pushed up her sleeves, only to have them fall right back down. "Course I ain't gonna understand! I mean, ya only said two words ta me right? It's like walkin up to a stranger an saying 'Heya chum! Remember back when we were wee an we used ta play?' Ain't no stranger gonna say 'course I do!' an strike up a conversation!"

She wrinkled her brow. "An I ain't fightin no mopey sour puss. 'Specially if I don't even know their name. This here's supposed ta be all gentlemanly right?" She paused and thought about what she had just daid. "I mean, this is all just good friendly competition, ain't nothing supposed ta be better than wrasslin round with a good lookin gal right? Maybe ya get a few nicks but in the end yer supposed ta be alrgiht."

She shook her head and extended her hand, smiling brightly. "Yeah, well I ain't here ta ramble on so why don't we get to it? My name's Nikolette, Nikolette Tessla! An what's yers?"

Satomi was completely mute when she heard this girl go on a small rant, bringing up some good points. However, when Satomi heard those words about it all being just friendly competition and be alright in the end, it struck a chord as she thought back on her last match. If all of that was true, then her previous match would have never happened. Ever since then, she didn't know who to really trust, and she had lost a lot of faith in this league. She never thought it would have ended that way, but it was something she could never forget.

But, the more Nikolette talked, the more it helped. Satomi let out a long sigh, briefly adjusting her glasses as she looked towards Nikolette with that stoic expression still, her olive eyes meeting her soon to be opponent's. And as she offered that hand to her, Satomi wasn't sure what to say or do right away. But soon, she raised her hand too, clasping Nikolette's with a gloved, scrawny palm, and shook hands with her, slowly growing a small grin.

"I... um... th..thanks. That.. that means a lot to hear from someone." Though she stuttered at first, Satomi was slowly but surely getting better about this. She was starting to feel like she could trust this girl, like she wouldn't do anything dirty to her in the match like the first time she experienced in the ring. "My name is Satomi, Professor Satomi Hakase." In the end, though she still had a look of pain in her face, it was slowly shifting away to a genuine little smile, all thanks to Nikolette.

Nikolette held her smile despite the wavering of Satomi who seemed unsure about what was going on. Her own fingerless glove gripped Satomi's firmly. She couldn't help but laugh. "Hey, dun need ta thank me, ok? All I did was ramble on but geeze how could I let ya just slink through a match with that kinda look on yer face. Was kinda painful ta watch."

She wrinkled her brow when she gave her full name. "Dangit!" She said stomping her foot. "Professor, eh? Man I never was able to get all professional like that. When ya come from a tiny village they don't really got really fancy universities though. But Mr. Tesla never even made it through a semester so I guess I ain't gonna worry bout gettin a title. "Dr. Tessla, that really sounds weird ya know. I think just Nikolette is fine."

The machinist's green eyes were wide and she had quite a big smile on her face as she talke to Satomi. "Oh, What're ya studyin?" She gazed down at Satomi. "Maybe I would guess yer more into bioengineerin?" She wondered. It was hard to tell from a lab coat but she thought Satomi seemed the type.

Nikolette took in a deep breath and was about to continue when the ref cleared her throat. Nikolette blushed and waved her hands. "Hey! Sorry bout that! I was just so caught up in havin a good chat an here I go an forget this is some kinda match." She lowered her head. "Go head and ring the bell.

She looked back up at Satomi and smiled. "Let's have a good fight, ok? I think it'll be fun!" She back up to her corner and the bell rung.

The professor was a little taken back when Nikolette got so excited and indulged on a conversation between them. The girl really helped bring out a good side of Satomi. She was usually very private, and only opened up to a handful of people because hardly anyone understood her. But even though Nikolette was a lot more open and cheerful than Satomi was, she was already sensing a slight connection. Somewhere past her overoptimistic personality, Satomi could sense the genuis in Nikolette. And not only that, but the girl wasn't just telling Satomi these things so she could bounce back and start the match, but she seemed like she really was genuinely concerned about her. And that... it meant a lot to her.

She had to admit though, the girl certainly was eccentric, and her last name did raise some questions. In fact, had they not been in a match, Satomi would have started asking a bunch of questions too. Maybe even spend some real time with her, and... make friends with her? It was strange, such a thought never came to Satomi, at least not that often or so sudden. But Nikolette really was helping Satomi ease into this match, and she found her to be very genuine and easy to get along with, and right now, that meant a lot to her. Especially in her depressing downtime right now.

Lightly she actually managed a chuckle, sweatdropping even a little when Nikolette realized she was rambling a bit too much, and she tried to hide it by covering her mouth, heading for her corner as well. She had high hopes for this match, and really, this might help her get over all her problems, or at least forget them for some time.

When the bell rang, Satomi immediattly got into her fighting stance, one that was unique for sure. Her left foot went out a bit further than the other, and her left arm up and strait foward with a closed palm, it seemed like a defensive position similiar to Hapkido, only there were subtle differences, and she really seemed to analyze Nikolette.

'Determining strance... style... height... weight... muscle mass...' Her mind racing with rough calculations, trying to assess what she could from Nikolette, Satomi could feel herself enter her state of concentration, just like she needed for her style to work. But for once... she was smiling. "Yes, let's have a good match, and good luck."

Nikolette smiled and nodded when Satomi wished her good luck. "Yeah, you too!" She said as the bell rang. She saw Hatomi get into a fighting stance and furrowed her brow. She recognized the fighting style from a picture she saw when she was trying to learn the basics. Her photographic memory retained every bit of knowledge she saw and before her first match she poured over books on martial arts.

Her face fell slightly as she walked forward. "Crap!" She blurted out. "Don't tell me you know how ta fight too!" She growled auddibly. "I ain't even had time to learn any a that cause I been too busy workin in the shop. All I know is that's a pain in the ass ta defend against..." She furrowed her brow as she glanced at Hatomi. "Hapkido right?" She asked. "That's what it looks like at least. Well dammit!" She growled again.

"Ain't nothin better than a good ol fashioned knuckle sandwich!" She bull rushed Satomi and went to aim a hook right at her face, not pausing in her momentum.

Now the young scientist was really starting to feel upbeat about this match. When she entered this style, Satomi was more focused than anything, but for the first time as she entered this state of concentration, she didn't have the cold look in her eyes, instead, she kept a more optimistic outlook, a light grin in the corner of her lips as she was ready for anything. Her stance was similiar to Hapkido, but as Satomi heard what her opponent said, beleiving that it was infact that style, Satomi couldn't help herself as she smiled evern more, but this time a bit cocky about it, knowing her opponent was underestimating her.

Satomi always had a bit of an obsession with weaponry, almost 80 percent of her inventions relating to some sort of offensive or defensive equipment the military would be envious of. So it was no surprise that she didn't just invent herself weapons overtime, but her own style as well.

"Good guess-" She said as Nikolette came at her, even more confident as she saw a strike; it was what her style was meant for countering, so if that was all Nikolette did, then Satomi would have this in the bag. 'Velocity, angle, potential and kinetic energy, determined!' Satomi quickly raised her palm towards her face, managing to capture Nikolette's blow with amazing grace, like she had predicted it coming. But the truth was that Satomi had not predicted it, but calculated it, all within a second, helping her capture the attack. "It's called Ki-Geo-Do."

Attempting to sneak in a counter the moment she caught Nikolette's blow, Satomi took her other palm, fingertips first, and drove it under the same arm she was holding, attempting to strike a nerve and muscle under Nikolette's right arm while she kept it raised after the counter.
